Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

Fallon is winning the late night wars

Glad it is not Kimmel.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon continues to handily dominate late-night in overall audience, last week clocking 4.26 million viewers to Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s 2.83 million on ABC and David Letterman’s 2.78 million on CBS.

Fallon hung on to 99% of his previous week’s demo and was up 81% compared to same week last year when Leno was hosting and was No. 1 and doing just fine in the ratings. That’s good news for Tonight Show as it’s still seeking its new normal, four weeks into its new era with new host Fallon.

Arnold's recent visit had me in stitches. Go to the .40 second mark.

The one thing that gets me is how much either prep or just work Jimmy gets his guests to do on his show.

Agreed. I recently watched the Kevin Bacon "Footloose" intro and I was thinking the same thing.

These are bits Jay Lame-o and his hack writers could never in a million years come up with. Glad he's finally gone.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

I actually watch the Tonight Show almost every night now. Something I never did with Leno hosting.

Jimmy making fun of Billy Dee Williams on Dancing with the Stars has been great

Noticed Fallon has Fox News host Bill O'Reilly on tonight. This may be the first time where Fallon can't kiss ass & say 'i love this guy' or even say 'he's a big fan'

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

Fallon just did a nice homage & tribute to Letterman & did a top ten list of 'why letterman is retiring' & had the Roots doing the Late Show theme song

But he did the interview in a way where no questions about Bills politics or views were discussed.

I hope Brian Williams does the show. He has not been on for a while and maybe he is pissed at all those rap montages lol

Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic on tonight, along with Stevie Nicks. Is Stevie the new Kurt?

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

There is no one on TV right now that is having more fun than Jimmy and it shows. His guests are having fun too, they are all in for whatever he asks them to do. It's energizing! Love the Jimmy.

That being said, Conan has been really funny as of late. His Clueless Gamer segments are hysterical and doing them in the ATT stadium in Dallas on the humongous screen was brilliant.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

Yeah, I wish there were an alternate reality where Fallon had Tonight and Conan was Late Show. I'd like that combo better than Conan on TBS (face it he isn't Tonight show material) and I'm still not really digging Seth on Late Night.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

Showing once again why Jimmy Fallon is (IMO, OK?) the best late night talk show on TV...

^It's clever but hardly as 'revolutionary' as the Internet is making it out to be. Fallon is admittedly great at bits, but his monologue and interviewing skills are pretty subpar.

His interviewing skills are getting better, his monologues are still pretty bad.

And even though his skits are getting a little repetitive, the way he pulls in celebrities to participate is still fantastic.

Agree

I liked Conan hosting Tonight Show and Fallon following him and that was a dream lineup but I like the idea of Fallon hosting Tonight and Conan following him.

I think the Conan clueless gamers sketch with the ET game was the best.
