I'm through 2 and will probably try to do one or two a night. That's my version of binge watching. Don't really have anything to add about what we've seen through 2 episodes that hasn't been said already.

Care to offer anymore insight (in spoilers of course)?

Rather than just, that's a wrap yo! I'm done watching it. Okay? And?

I haven't started season 2 yet, but you aren't really adding anything insightful to others watching. I mean you watched 13 hours of programming in under 24 hours, at least share some more details.

Finished my run thru as well. Amazing stuff. Very strong 2nd episode.
I didn't intend to binge on the rest of them ( I did 4 episodes last night), it just kinda happened. I couldn't stop watching.

Why would you want them to share details when 99% of us haven't even started?

hahha, yeah, I just had to take a nap. Didn't sleep that much last night, so I am/was tired.

And now I will.

I think season 2 buries season 1 without question as the stakes were raised beyond imagination. Not only do I think Wright should get an Emmy but so should Kevin Spacey and Gerald McRaney as Raymond Tusk. Tusk is especially reserved until things get heated.

James Foley, Jodie Foster, and Robin Wright kicked major ass on the episodes that they directed as did those directors that I've missed. I don't think David Fincher directed anything this time for season 2 like he did for season one.

Lots of character arcs explored and brought to their conclusion
Spoiler:
Freddy's friendship, for example
and more shocking
Spoiler:
deaths
bookend season 2 like
Spoiler:
Doug's unfortunate demise
.

Someone had mentioned earlier that they hated the
Spoiler:
cyberwarfare
element but I felt that that added even more intrigue into this massive world of power and players.

Season 2 starts off big, finds its pacing halfway through, before taking the rug off of your feet by the time we get to that final episode. It is a doozy and it is a powerful one. It's gonna be a long year until we get season 3 but I look forward to it.

EDIT - any details that I have added have been spoilerzied, so don't fucking click on the spoilers if you haven't seen the episodes yet. You've been warned.

Re: House of Cards (Netflix) -- Season 2 Discussion Thread -- Available 2/14/14

Alright. I just finished season 1 tonight. Watched episodes 4-13 over the past week.

I had originally started watching back when they were first posted 1 year ago, but sort of stopped when I got busy with work and regular TV that I was already watching.

Amazing stuff, I'm ready to start season 2 tomorrow. Frank Underwood is one shady, yet awesome character. I have to believe the murder/suicide of Peter Russo will come back into play later in the show's run. Seems to me that getting the VP gig is part of Frank's master plan to become the POTUS at some point & he'll do whatever it takes to get there. I actually felt bad for Russo after his fall from grace.

I'll post in this thread again after I've started viewing season 2.

Re: House of Cards (Netflix) -- Season 2 Discussion Thread -- Available 2/14/14

I don't think anything I've seen in season 2 comes into play when I say I think Frank's mission may be to become President, but I think he wants to do that to disgrace the person who screwed him over by not naming him Secretary of State. This show seems to me to be about revenge foremost.

He definitely wants to become President. He's hinted this throughout the first 2 seasons.

Re: House of Cards (Netflix) -- Season 2 Discussion Thread -- Available 2/14/14

I think what I'm getting at is that if he were Secretary of State, he would have been more than happy to wait his turn to become President. Now that he got screwed over, my sense of things (and nothing I have seen in season 2 spells this out it's just my sense) is that he's trying to unseat the sitting President by killing him, forcing him to resign, getting him impeached, or running against him when he runs for re-election.

Re: House of Cards (Netflix) -- Season 2 Discussion Thread -- Available 2/14/14

We watched up until episode 8 last night. Hopefully we should be able to finish today. But there's a lot of TV tonight so...

My wife says that so far she doesn't like this season as much as the first one. I think it has lower lows, and higher highs, compared to the first one. Of course we are talking about a show whose quality is above the standard, so even those lower lows may be good enough.

Some spoilers/conjectures up to episode 8:

Spoiler:

This may be revealed later, don't say anything if that's true, but I think that Frank and his wife planned sending the white powder, so he could be locked, and then the interview was with her wife only and the big reveal. That her big revenge is planned. Almost anything is an accident with them.

I don't know what to think of myself, but I kind of rooting for the Underwoods.

For those interested, Vulture is doing episode recaps of season 2. So far, they only have write-ups of episodes 1 and 2. I find these helpful since there's often so much going on I miss a beat.

Re: House of Cards (Netflix) -- Season 2 Discussion Thread -- Available 2/14/14

Finished Season 2 in a day. Brilliant like Season 1. I know they were commissioned these 26 episodes at once, so it'll be interesting to see where they go in Season 3.
Spoiler:
Where will Frank go from here? How much more can he climb?

I'm impressed some of you were able to finish this in a weekend. I actually want to draw it out at least a little bit. Watching in batches of 2-3 episodes seems to be my sweet spot. Should finish over the course of a month or so.

I had no intention to...or even plans to... it just... happened.

Also... I thought Molly Parker was sexy as hell in this.

Yeah, I knew what I was getting into, which is why I cleared my schedule around this. Last minute too, because I didn't even know it had started until my FB feed exploded.

Re: House of Cards (Netflix) -- Season 2 Discussion Thread -- Available 2/14/14

I was only able to do 3 episodes, so this is spoiler for up to ep #3

Spoiler:
If they have the security footage of Zoe getting hit by the train why don't they rewind it back, say, 10 freaking seconds, which would make it obvious that she's talking to someone? I hope this is addressed later, if not, fucking stupid!

In response:

Spoiler:
So she's talking to somebody, maybe. That doesn't mean anything about tripping and falling. I think Frank got a bit lucky there that it looked like she tripped

Now I think I'm through 8 so spoilers through that point:

Spoiler:
I feel really badly for the rib guy, and I really wish we'd have gotten a bit more breaking of the 4th wall for Frank to offer some exposition about how he didn't know he was breaking off such a big piece of trouble a few times through these past 3 episodes or so.

I can't wait to see the remaining 5!

Spoiler:
Frank was never in camera view. She would seem to be just leaning against the wall. Then moving around a corner and tripping.

Spoiler:
Before he stared walking away, he should've been just barely in camera view. But that doesn't even matter since it would've been apparent in the seconds earlier that Zoe is talking to someone there, someone in camera view or not, but someone. Would've been more believable if they just didn't have any camera footage at all.

I must have missed something, I'm also through #8 now and...
Spoiler:
all I recall about the rib guy is that he was offered a franchise/chain deal, and not even any follow up on that - what happened?

^ your response is to someone who said they are through episode 8
unless I have missed something like the poster above it seems like your response is for something that happens latter than episode 8 .... if so please delete

Re: House of Cards (Netflix) -- Season 2 Discussion Thread -- Available 2/14/14

Finished season 2.

Yeah, higher highs and lower lows than season 1, as I mentioned before. Robin Wright was excellent. She was probably the best actor in the entire show. I think her character is the one that can make a difference in future seasons.

Even with the lower lows, right now I put season 2 above season 1.

I wonder about the future of the show.
