If the show were say, 15 minutes, I would watch.
But 60 minutes devoted to talking about the last 60 minutes you watched? Get real.

I like THE TALKING DEAD. I actually wish more shows would do this sort of thing - although I think it only works for an hour drama. I would probably dislike it if Chris Hardwick wasn't knowledgeable about the show, but he knows his stuff and is a pretty likeable guy (don't understand the hate for him...but I never understood the hate for Olivia Munn, either).
TNT did this for DALLAS the first season, but it was only online...you'd have to jump on your computer after the show. They stopped doing it in Season 2.

Yes but remember for every show you may like, others may hate
So how frustrating would it be to have to navigate say 10 of these kind of chat shows per week for tv shows you don't watch
I would say if you want to do the chat show, put the fucker online and those hardcore nuthuggers can watch it online, kind of like Anarchy Afterwards.

As for Talking Dead, I enjoy it, sometimes even more than some of the Walking Dead episodes. Yes, it is self indulgent but that's what I enjoy about it. And I agree witht the poster about Buffy, that would have been killer to have had an after show for that series.

Isn't it a little self-indulgent to start a thread about a show you barely watch?
I usually just don't watch the shows I don't like, then move on with my life.
It must be fairly popular since it's in its second season. My personal feelings about the show mirror what Shannon Nutt said.

I wish every cable show would do an extensive half hour after each episode. I know that many shows like Game of Thrones and Homeland have a 2-3 minute recap with the creator after each episode on OnDemand.
I have never watched Walking Dead, so I don't know how detailed it is and whether it merits a discussion after, but there are alot of little things I miss from Game of Thrones every week that would be recapped nicely in a half hour show.

Since Mad Men's final season is getting split over 2 years, I wouldn't be surprised if AMC greenlights Talking Mad or something. For that show, I'd like to see Hamm, Weiner, Moss and such show up for a little discussion. However, the show is so much more low key than Walking Dead or Breaking Bad, that I can't see someone like Hardwick hosting it.

I want to punch Chris Hardwick in that giant adam's apple of his. Apparently his normal gig is stand up, which is a surprise, since he's not funny.

If by Doctor Who talking show you mean the Doctors Revisited that aired on BBC America, those were retrospective "I Love The '80s" style chat shows, not the immediate "let's talk about what we've just seen" style shows like Talking Dead.
Now, if you mean Doctor Who Confidential (RIP), those were actually legit behind the scenes shows, with footage of the production, and IMO were way more interesting than Talking Dead.

For a while there, Doctor Who had two separate shows accompanying every episode of the series.

Talking Dead was basically the first instance of putting this type of podcast chat show on the air, and paring it with celebrity guests. I guess it's popular, but I personally don't watch it.

I guess you guys wouldn't like Wheel Talk, my proposed half hour Wheel of Fortune wrap-up show.

You forgot about "Totally Doctor Who," which was a half-hour show that also ran during seasons 2 & 3:

I could totally get behind the idea of a "Talking Who" show if it had hosts/guests with a deep knowledge of old and new Who.
But frankly, most shows aren't in depth enough to warrant their own discussion show. Walking Dead included. The only time I watch TD is when a big character dies and the actor is the special guest.

Chris Hardwick is a funny guy, perfect for lightly riffing on a series while still respecting it. The problem is that the show is uniformly positive in its praise of everything Walking Dead, and interviews too many critical production members that can't reveal a single thing about the show's future.
Why do they keep having insiders on that can't say a single thing about future events? It's pointless and stupid. David Morrissey (The Governor) was just about the only actor ever worth a guest spot, as you could tell he had intelligently worked out his role on the show and within the Dead universe in his mind. He also pulled a fast one on the audience, by acting like The Governor was sticking around for the long run. The others talked about stupid antics on set and other inane stuff.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Talking Dead. It seems to exist solely to blow smoke up the mothership show's ass. They can never criticize the show. The guests can never reveal any spoilers. Also, Chris Hardwick comes off very douchey, as does Robert Kirkman.
And The Walking Dead is notable for probably being one of the most volatile shows on the air behind the camera. You know there's some juicy gossip to be had but you'll never hear a peep about that on Talking Dead.

Any truth that AMC is launching another companion show which will be hosted by Miley Cyrus? I heard "Twerking Dead" is set to begin with the new season ...

You're not going to get anything out of the characters about what happens and the random ass actors they get to talk about it.... well, who gives a shit about what they have to say.
It seems to follow a script in itself and has a lot of stuff that would make that concept of a show interesting be stuff that's off limits.

Never seen Talking Dead, I don't care enough to and there are very few shows I would care to watch something like this of even if I really enjoy it.

I've watched Talking Dead a few times, and I don't think it's that bad. Some of the guests are interesting to hear from, and some of the discussion can be interesting. I don't get some bits like the one guest that can call in though. I liked Talking Bad too though.

The problem with The Talking Dead for me is that having actors and producers on the show completely stifles the conversation. They can't really say anything worth listening to and the other guests have to walk on eggshells while discussing the show around them.

I don't think AMC would allow criticism of the show, even if the actors/crew weren't appearing. It's a promotional vehicle for the Walking Dead, nothing more. You can tell that Hardwicke starts steering the conversation in other directions when guests start veering towards criticism.

I think it's cool because if you're a big fan of something you're going to want to consume as much content as you can get. I'm a little more obsessed with shows than your average viewer though, like people don't understand why I go to comic con and wait in a line for 6 hours to hear a cast talk about a show. I've seen a lot of panel moderators and Chris Hardwick is the best hands down. He is very good about researching and generally enjoying whatever he is talking about.
Is the show self indulgent, over the top, pretentious? Yeh perhaps, but if people didn't watch it they would cancel it not extend it from it's original 30 min slot to a full hour. Like others have said, if it's not your cup of tea it's easy to navigate around it. There are a ton of shitty shows I have no problem avoiding.
