Most overrrated show currently on TV?

Someone asked about making this thread in the Underrated shows thread, so I thought I would oblige.

Please, let's not make this thread about shows I hate, shows I have only seen 1 or 2 episodes and think they suck.

Just realized that I probably should have put The Big Bang Theory in the poll. It's currently the most watched 30 minute comedy on TV right now.

What's so great about DUCK DYNASTY?

I watch both Girls and Modern Family, but I will have to go with them.

Regarding Girls:

:thmbsdwn: No Allison Williams nudity

 Seeing Lena Dunham's fat ass walking around in a thong and her nasty ass boobs & tattoos.

The Walking Dead. Didn't even read through the full list since I knew I'd be checking that one.

Edited to add that I am an avid viewer. Just wish it took more than gore and flesh-eating zombies to garner high ratings these days.

That would be hard to do.

I watch the TBBT and don't think it's overrated. :)

From the list, I think all of those show are rate accordingly. I mean, some are popular, some are loved by the critics, some by only some people, etc.

Although much of the luster is lost from Modern Family, I have to go with 2 1/2 Men or 2 Broke Girls. Both pull in decent numbers and are touted as "hits" but I can't stand 5 minutes of either one of them.

If you ask about underrated shows I'll go with The Middle and Back In The Game. Find them both entertaining week to week and while BITG has been cancelled, The Middle gets no love.

In what universe could Agents of SHIELD be overrated?

Most TV pundits -- even the ones who like it -- agree that it needs a major overhaul.

Some of those are pure shit but as far as being overrated Mad Men gets my vote.

:johnwoo: Die! Mad Men is fucking brilliant. Some folks don't appreciate what a slow burn it is, but man I love that show.

Homeland went in the shitter this year, but I don't think it's overrated because this year it's probably been the most critically savaged and dismissed formerly critically acclaimed show of all time

I voted for The Newsroom, even though it's not exactly overrated, because it's the closest thing I could think of to The West Wing that inexplicably won a bunch of Best Drama Emmys

Re: Most overrrated show currently on TV?

My first inclination was The Following, as I slogged through half a dozen or so episodes then got so annoyed with the convoluted narrative that I just quit. But that doesn't mean it's overrated, just means it sucks. Not the same thing.

Then I thought Masters of Sex, which I'm watching and enjoying, and yet I don't seem to be as wowed by it as a lot of you are (I regularly see you calling it the best show on television, which I strongly disagree with)

So I'm going with one of my favorite shows, actually. The Walking Dead. I love it, watch every minute of it. But it's hardly groundbreaking stuff. I just like good zombie movies, and this is like a regular one every week. There's far better stuff on the tube in terms of acting, storylines, etc. In terms of quality, TWD is nowhere near the amount of ratings it's getting.

Re: Most overrrated show currently on TV?

I stopped watching the Walking Dead about 4 episodes ago because I just didn't know why I kept watching. I hear friends talk about how great it is, but man, I gave that show every chance in the world, and I don't see it. It just slogs through plot points. It's also a show that pretends to takes itself seriously and be realistic, but then ignores logic whenever it is plot convenient. That's infuriating to me.

And please don't say "how does a show about zombies claim to be realistic?" You know what I mean.

Two and a Half Men barely registers anymore in terms of ratings. The most recent episode pulled a 1.9 rating in the demo, it would be canceled if they... I actually don't know why it hasn't been yet at this point. Last season it averaged about a 3.6 rating in the demo. But I do agree, I've seen it in the past and it has always been bad.

It's a family show, not too far removed from what used to be on TGIF back in the 90s, just "reality" based. Underserved demo.

IMO, The Big Bang Theory.

That's your opinion. I like Lena Dunham and I accept her body just fine.

It's my opinion as well. Hell even the characters on the show comment on her nasty boobs.
I respect the show and her work on it, but the nudity is a big "fuck you" to those critical of her body and willingness to show it. I get where she's coming from, but I hope it stops. Seriously.

I'd have to go with Modern Family. The show can still occasionally(very occasionally) be funny, but the show is a shell of it's former self with most of the cast bordering on annoying now. Still have no idea how it won the Emmy for best comedy again last year.

The Walking Dead easily. The first season was decent but I haven't really cared much for it since then. The Newsroom is a show that kind of disappoints me too. It feels like it should be a lot better than it is but it's just sort of okay.

Probably more under over-hyped I guess. I threw it in for the hell of it.

Not surprised at the responses for The Walking Dead.

I agree. It's more of her saying that she's the creator, head writer, executive producer and can do whatever she wants including flaunting her naked body whether the fans who watch it like it or not.

I too respect her work on it and it can be funny at times, but stuff like that irks me and makes me think she's a little full of herself. Especially after winning the awards.

Also at this point I'd almost say that The Simpsons is underrated personally. The show has a lot of haters now days but in my opinion the show has actually gotten pretty good again since around season twenty or so to present.

If anything American Idol is dying a slow death. It hasn't been relevant since Simon Cowell left.

Bummer, it did? I loved S1 and a lot of S2, planned on getting SHO over Xmas to marathon it. Not totally unexpected it wouldn't be a great season I guess, but is it worth my time?

Agreed with everything you said right up to "but I hope it stops..." I like what she and the show have to say, but I don't have a problem with the nudity.
