As much as Colson was turning the steering wheel, they must've been joking with the audience.

This show has been passable entertainment, so far. The lack of regular superhero appearances will kill it in the end. Why Marvel didn't stick some third-rate, established superhero on the show is still mystifying. This would have been a perfect show for a character like Mockingbird.

Finally caught up and finished this episode after being behind most of the Fall. Thanks to Hulu Plus for saving me DVR space during my backlog. I hope to get caught up on everything during the winter break.
You know what, I thought it was pretty good episode. Sure there were a lot of clichés, but it was entertaining. It was good to see Mike Peterson again. I'm sure the explosion was just a red herring and he'll be alive when the show resumes.
For such a relatively small plot point on The Avengers, they sure are making a pretty big deal about Coulson's death and "rebirth"
And really guys? Nitpicking the green screen driving scene? I've seen dozens of driving scenes that looked so much worse.
The one plot point that I found a little odd was Ward and May's secret relationship. I just didn't feel any connection or chemistry between them.

I think it's a temporary relationship meant as a placeholder to delay the inevitable Ward/Skye relationship. They didn't want to start the series with the brain-dead obvious May/Coulson and Ward/Skye pairings.

Also, it is a fairly big thing isn't? A character had died. And come back. It seems a pretty good thing to know about if you are a "baddie",

I think making such a big deal about bringing him back to life is for the benefit of the non-comic book audience. Comic book people will accept any crazy explanation and run with it. And I mean that in the most positive way possible.

Fury used Coulson's death to motivate the Avengers. And if he did know he lived, then he was saying what he was to manipulate the Avengers, lying to achieve his means.
