Not much of a twist ending... but I don't want to wait until January 7th for a new ep.

It was a twist for SHIELD, not the viewer :)

Surprise! Colson kidnapped! Well, they said in the previews we're going to find out what happened after he died, so they're not leaving much to the imagination.

hanshotfirst1138 12-10-13 11:06 PM

There we go, as Whedon shows tend to, it took a while to get going, but I'm glad they finally got the plot into motion. May is really being a bitch. I'd assume she and Colson are Skye's parents, but it seems too obvious. Shame about Mike, I quite liked him. Wonder if they'll finish everything up this season because of the ratings or hedge their bets?

Ok in regards to the 2nd half of the season preview:

Spoiler:
What was that gauntlet thing? One of the infinity gems?

Not much of a twist. I hope Mike isn't gone, I hate when they kill off characters that quickly.

Oh Mike's not dead. No way they did it like that. No body = alive on most television shows.

Another enjoyable episode. And the preview for the next in January looks nice too.

The ratings are not bad at all. See the link here for a breakdown.

For nine weeks in a row it's been the number 1 show in the timeslot for men 18-34, which is really all advertisers care about.

Entertaining as always.

One silly issue, the "they are behind me" needs a new take, it's just done too much.

The actor playing Skye did a AMA on reddit. I would provide a link but I don't really like you guys so suck it.

Ok fine here it is

I was a bit distracted watching Coulson Drive. As they were going down a straight street, you see his hands turning the steering wheel all sorts of directions. Maybe his car's alignment was messed up? :)

I was more distracted by the scenery flying by -- "Look, it's trash day!"

hanshotfirst1138 12-11-13 09:24 AM

Is that kind of thing basically green screened the same way it used to be done with rear projection?

That distracts me in any tv show or movie. Actors feel the need to 'act' with the steering wheel.

This happens on stage too when people pantomime driving. I've taken acting classes where that is specifically called out. I'm super aware of it now and I'm surprised it isn't pointed out to actors more on TV shows and movies.

I thought it was a bit dull and padded. A lot of the character moments and dialogue felt forced this episode. Not a bad episode but not a good one either.

Huge ratings drop from the most recent new episode two weeks ago to last night:

Ep. 9 (11/26): 9.69 million / 2.6
Ep. 10 (12/10): 5.92 million / 2.0

Maybe lots of people assumed last night was a repeat, and that the show was already on a break until January?

I don't look forward to the show any more. At this point I don't really care if it is canceled or not. I did like this episode though.

REDDIT:

If you could play any other character in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, even a man, anyone at all, who would you chose?
CHLOE:

thats a good question. I would want to play Captain America---because how kind of weird would it be if captain america was a half chinese 21 year old lady who kind of also looks mexican

That's so common I don't even notice it anymore.

What's really funny is that if the car has power steering, then the driver is going to be doing donuts and weaving all over the place like he's running an obstacle course or demolition derby.

I was transfixed at them driving and watching their hair blowing the wrong way.:D

What I don't understand is that if they're using Lola why don't they just 'fly' to their destination?

Thought it was decent aside from Skye's little "the woman I think is my mom doesn't like me" pouting session.

I wonder if the ultimate big bad Raina's boss was alluding to is going to be a character in the new Captain America movie?

It's my personal experience that when I notice this type of piddly stuff, I'm not enjoying what I'm watching. With that said, I didn't notice this. :)

I didn't notice the driving, but did hate the "he's right behind me" line. Even though the show has gotten better, I hate that they still have so many cliche moments like that.

I don't know why anyone does that anymore. It's just too overdone.
