I can see the movie people not wanting to worry about already established continuity on the shows (Arrow has introduced a lot of characters) and the TV people not wanting to worry about scheduling the shows around the movie schedule.

Even though there's no shared "continuity" :yack: between the TV shows and the movies, you could still have Stephen Amell show up as Green Arrow in a Justice League movie. There'd be a least SOME audience recognition, and you wouldn't have to go into any backstory really. Give him a Van Dyke and an updated, more cinematic costume and if anyone wonders how it fits, just tell them to relax and just enjoy the movie on its own terms without worrying about how it "fits" into anything.

But then he returns to the tv show and has the old costume/tech.
In theory sharing continuity would be awesome but it just opens up a host of problems. we're talking about a $200m movie sharing continuity with a CW show. The only way it works in my mind is if they're dumping a bunch of money into the show like it was HBO. |

So Thor and Captain A, Hulk and the gang are regulars? We're talking about a core superhero & title character of his own show, not a bunch of people in suits.

And neither character require tons of FX work or fancy costumes to maintain on a weekly basis. I'm just saying I don't think you can take a superhero that requires a bunch of cool fx and high production values on a big budget film and then drop him into a CW show with a limited budget and have the character 'feel' the same. There's something that's going to get lost in there.
Take the suit for Flash. Leather outfit might be good enough for tv but I want Flash in a real body suit on film. So what happens after the film comes out and he goes back to tv? Does he go back to the leather look? Bodysuit was stolen from his car? |

Years ago, there was talk of shooting a 24 feature film in between seasons. Back in 2005 or 2006, Joel Surnow, Howard Gordon and Bob Cochran wrote a script for a 24 feature film, which would supposedly shoot after 24 season 6 wrapped filming. They had a really tight window though. They could only shoot between March through July and then have to start work on season 7. They scrapped the whole idea because they were afraid the TV version would suffer because of it and they would half ass the film production schedule.
Here are the bullet points from what their plans were back then. Too bad they couldn't pull it off http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/24...ide.120245832/ Film and TV operate on different schedules. TV is so much tighter and shoots from July all the way until March because they have to crank out 22-24 episodes. Plus, it takes 8-9 days to film an episode. Speaking of Flash and Arrow, it would IMO be too difficult to loan out Amell or Gustin to shoot scenes in a feature film, runned by different people from a different side of WB in other locations while trying to keep them working on the TV show and stay on schedule. Arrow and Flash shoot in Vancouver. Hypothetically, What happens if say the JL movie needs to film scenes with Green Arrow in say China? Do you really want to risk the TV version falling behind schedule because you have to fly out Amell to China to shoot for say 1 week and then fly him back? You also risk fatiguing him from the travel. |
Didn't the idea of a 24 film mutate into Redemption/Exile and eventually into Live Another Day?

Marvel is throwing out several linked shows on Netflix. Those surely won't suffer. Sure those characters may not show up in the films, but I bet they wouldn't rule out cameos or mentions of them/their plots. Plus and extra layer of BS, because WB/DC claim the opposite when it's convenient. "Oh, we can't have two Batman's at once - that would confuse people!" :down: |

Marvel's shows could quickly become an unwieldy mess in a shared television continuity, much like the comics themselves. I'm sure it will be exciting at first, until the TV writers start retconning stuff and casual viewers give up.

Kelly Frye has signed on to play DC Comics character Plastique in the upcoming "The Flash" TV series on The CW. In the series she'll play a more heroic incarnation of the character, at least initially. Plastique (aka Sgt. Bette Sans Souci) was a bomb disposal expert in Iraq. Following the accident that gave Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) his super speed powers, Bette finds herself with the ability to turn everything she touches into a bomb. She seeks Barry's help as nefarious U.S. government forces chase her down. |

I don't know why they wouldn't want the same actor in both the TV show and the movies. Assuming the casting is good, the crossover would be excellent for the ratings of both. (Moreso the TV show than the movie.)

The DC villain character of Girder, aka Tony Woodward, is joining the cast of The CW's "The Flash". In the comics Woodward was a bratty steelworker who was dunked in a vat of molten metal that had been tainted by S.T.A.R. Labs waste. He emerged as a mass of iron, impervious to most anything (except rust). In the show, Woodward used to bully young Barry in the schoolyard, and is now can transmute any part of his body into solid steel. The role is said to be a recurring one and will be introduced in the sixth episode of the new season, but it hasn't been cast as yet. |

"Prison Break" scene stealer Robert Knepper is set to reprise his role as William Tockman, aka. The Clock King, in the upcoming seventh episode of The CW's "The Flash". Knepper played the character in an episode of the second season of "Arrow". Producer Andrew Kreisberg says: "We wanted to give Barry a real challenge... TWO bad guys! (Barry will be) fighting both a new enemy and one of our scariest and most successful Arrow villains in The Clock King." |

The legendary Clancy Brown has scored a pivotal recurring role in the upcoming fifth episode of The CW's "The Flash". The appearance marks Brown's return to the DC world, the actor memorably voiced Lex Luthor in several animated series. In "The Flash," Brown will play General Wade Eiling, also known as The General, the head of a black ops army team pursuing Plastique (Kelly Frye) in the hopes of using her as a human weapon. Eiling may have ties to a central Flash character. |
