I'll debate you on the "still works". To me it will sound dumb in 2014 for a character to be named "Professor Zoom".
Is Professor Zoom any worse than Green Goblin, Doctor Doom, The Silver Surfer (!), etc. |
Re: The Flash (CW) -- Spinoff of Arrow -- Coming this Fall
What else would he have been called? Opposite Flash. Bizzaro Flash. Yellow Flash. The Yellow Streak.

Bizarros are the opposite of their Earth counterparts. So since Flash is the fastest man alive, Bizarro Flash is the slowest. He moves at a turtle-like pace. Batman is the world's greatest detective, so Batzarro is the worst detective. |

I guess I wasn't as obviously facetious as I thought.

Exactly. Like Speedy Gonzales & Slowpoke Rodriguez.
Spoiler:
Anyway, I watched the pilot but am only a few episodes into season two of Arrow. There's no reason to wait to watch. |

Besides which, Reverse Flash isn't actually his name. His name is Professor Zoom. Reverse Flash is more of a modern connotation, but not his actual name. Reverse Flash is usually used to refer to all the people who have been a Reverse Flash. (There have been several "Reverse Flashes" similar to how there have been several Robins.) Bizzaro Flash is the one who is actually super-slow. Bizarros are the complete opposite of their Earth counterparts. http://i.imgur.com/G0ySjtW.jpg |

9:00 AM PDT 10/27/2014 by Lesley Goldberg The CW's The Flash is not waiting long to bring in a new love interest for The Fastest Man Alive. The Vampire Diaries and Star-Crossed alum Malese Jow has been tapped to recur and play pivotal DC Comics character Linda Park, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The character is described as a quick-witted reporter for the Central City Picture News. She befriends Iris (Candice Patton) while at work and helps her navigate the fast-paced world of journalism. When she meets Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) at a local bar, the two hit it off and become quick friends. The character will first appear in episode 112. For Jow, the role brings her back into The CW fold after her regular role on last season's short-lived Star-Crossed and her fan favorite portrayal of Anna on The Vampire Diaries. Her credits include Unfabulous, The Troop and Big Time Rush. She's repped by Sweeney Entertainment and McKuin Frankel. In DC's The Flash comics, Linda Park first appears in Issue No. 28 as Wally West's girlfriend and eventual wife. (Wally is the first Kid Flash and third Flash overall.) The character becomes the latest in a rapidly growing line of DC characters to appear on the freshman series. Jow joins Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell's Heat Wave, Robbie Amell's Firestorm, Kelly Frye's Plastique, Clancy Brown's The General, Patrick Sabongui's Captain Sing and Robert Knepper's The Clock King, among others. |

The CW loves Jow, they've been casting her for just about every project.
