A Prison Break reunion is coming to TV — on The Flash, that is.

Dominic Purcell has boarded The CW comic-book drama as a DC Comics villain, reuniting with his Prison Break co-star Wentworth Miller in the 10th episode, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. This marks the first time Purcell and Miller, who played brothers Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield, will have appeared together since Prison Break ended in 2009.

Purcell will play Mick Rory, a pyromaniac who finds an outlet for his obsession with fire when he teams up with Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Miller) and becomes the villain known as Heatwave. Miller was cast in The Flash back in July and makes his debut in episode four. Purcell's character will also be heard from in that same episode.

In DC comic lore, Heatwave is a member of the Rogues, of which Captain Cold is the leader. Heatwave has been featured in animated form, on shows such as Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Other major Prison Break castmembers have been featured in the Arrow/The Flash universe. Robert Knepper ("T-Bag") played The Clock King on Arrow and is set to reprise his role on The Flash, and Peter Stormare (John Abruzzi) is Count Vertigo on the new season of Arrow.

The Flash centers on Central City assistant police forensic investigator Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) who visits Starling City to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. Through a freak accident, he is given the power of superspeed, which transforms him into the fastest man alive. Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Cavanagh, Rick Cosnett and John Wesley Shipp also star.

Purcell is the latest addition to a guest cast that includes Clancy Brown as General Wade Eiling and Tomorrow People's Robbie Amell as one-half of Firestorm. The first episode features a cameo appearance by Arrow star Stephen Amell, while episode four will feature Emily Bett Rickards' Felicity crossing over to Central City. The eighth episodes of Arrow and The Flash will be a two-hour crossover event.

Purcell is repped by UTA and Untitled. Since Prison Break ended, he has appeared in TV's Common Law, Castle and features Blood Creek, The Killer Elite and Straw Dogs. He'll next be seen in A Fighting Man opposite Famke Janssen and James Caan.

The Flash premieres Oct. 7 on The CW.

The Flash has recruited a star from the original series.

Amanda Pays, who co-starred in CBS' 1990s The Flash TV series opposite John Wesley Shipp's Barry Allen, will reprise her role as Dr. Tina McGee on the upcoming The CW drama, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Dr. McGee was an expert geneticist, who was Barry's main ally and love interest. When Pays' alter ego returns to Central City this go-around, she'll be an employee of a rival company to STAR Labs. Shipp, it was revealed back in June, plays Henry, Barry Allen's father.

CBS' The Flash aired 22 episodes during the 1990-91 season, getting the ax after struggling against tough competition from Fox and NBC's strong Thursday primetime lineups before being relegated to Saturdays.
The updated Flash centers on Central City assistant police forensic investigator Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), who visits Starling City to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. Through a freak accident, he is given the power of superspeed, which transforms him into the fastest man alive. Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Cavanagh, Rick Cosnett and Shipp also star.

The first episode features a cameo appearance by Arrow star Stephen Amell, while episode four will feature Emily Bett Rickards' Felicity crossing over to Central City. The eighth episodes of Arrow and The Flash will be a two-hour crossover event.

Pays is repped by Origin Talent. The Flash premieres Oct. 7 on The CW.

Along with the likes of Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Firestorm (Dominic Purcell), another villain set to appear midseason in the upcoming "The Flash" series is one of DC Comics' first openly gay characters - The Pied Piper.

According to TV Line the version here is named Hartley, a protege of Dr. Wells who lost his hearing in an accident. He now sets out to wreak havoc with an invention of his own under the guise of The Pied Piper.

Are they saying Firestorm is a villain there? The way that is phrased sure sounds like it.

Edit to add: I just noticed that they have the Firestorm actor as Dominic Purcell. That actor is playing Heat Wave, who is a Flash villain. Robbie Amell is the actor playing Firestorm, who is a hero. These people need to get their nerdy comic trivia correct... -ohbfrank-

'The Flash' Scores 'Alias' Alum Victor Garber for Major DC Role
9:00 AM PDT 10/9/2014 by Philiana Ng

Alias alum Victor Garber, known for his Emmy-nominated turn as Jennifer Garner's father on the beloved spy drama, has booked a major recurring role on The CW's The Flash, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

First appearing in the 12th episode, Garber will play DC Comics character Dr. Martin Stein, who becomes one-half of Firestorm.

Dr. Stein is a brilliant but arrogant nuclear physicist who has sacrificed everything, including a marriage, for his work in transmutation. After he discovers the particle accelerator fused him with the younger, more impulsive Ronnie Raymond (Tomorrow People's Robbie Amell), he races to find a way to separate the two before it's too late.

Firestorm has appeared in several animated properties, such as ABC's Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show, The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians and Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, but this will be the character's first appearance in live action.

Garber is the latest addition to a guest cast that includes original heroine Amanda Pays as Dr. Tina McGee, Dominic Purcell as Heatwave and Clancy Brown as General Wade Eiling. Executive producer Greg Berlanti hinted in July that there was a good chance Dr. Stein would be seen on The Flash, revealing that the character had been included in a version of the pilot.

Is it just me or does The Flash have the worst-named rogues gallery in all of comicdom? Pied Piper? Professor Zoom? WTF.

They may have cheesy names, but it's still a great rogues gallery. Flash easily has a rogues gallery that ranks right up there with Batman's, Superman's, and Spider-Man's. Remarkably few superheroes actually have a good rogues gallery.

Plus, it's not like Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man don't have cheesy villains either. Batman has Crazy Quilt, Condiment King, KGBeast. Superman has Toyman and Prankster. Spider-Man has The Spot.

Edit to add: That's probably the Marvel Cinematic Universe's greatest weakness is that they don't have access to many good villains. Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Cap have some good villains but not really very many. Most of the truly classic villains, Dr Doom, Galactus, all the Spidey villains, all the mutants, etc belong to Fox and Sony.

Also, as good as the Arrow TV series is, most of the villains on that show are actually taken from Batman.

I'll admit I've know nothing about The Flash outside of Justice League cartoons but when one of your main villains appears to be someone called "Professor Zoom"...I think that's a far cry from The Joker, Darkseid, Sinestro and Black Manta...as far as DC villain naming goes anyway.

I personally think Professor Zoom is one of the greatest of the great silly silver-age character names still in use. That said, he's often times referred to in the comics as the Reverse Flash and a second incarnation of the character was named simply Zoom, so you're obviously not alone in thinking it's a dumb name. Writers have been using alternatives for decades.

Mister Freeze

Also, Professor Pyg is a relatively new Batman villain created just a few years ago.

I'll give you Mister Freeze. And Professor Pyg sounds terrible. I just can't believe "Reverse-Flash" is the best they could do (and I know that name applies to multiple characters).

The Flash has one of the most celebrated Rogues Gallery in comics. They have a Silver Age charm and goofiness that still works.

I'll debate you on the "still works". To me it will sound dumb in 2014 for a character to be named "Professor Zoom".

Professor Pyg sounds stupid, but he is creepy as hell. He turns people into "dollotrons" which are kinda like living doll people. They are lobotomized people whose faces have been cut off and replaced with doll faces.

If you are watching Gotham, Pyg appeared on that series as the guy in the pig mask.

Pyg was created by Grant Morrison. Morrison has this weird love affair with goofy comics from the 50s and 60s, so he likes to blend that goofiness with a more modern dark and gritty setting. So the result is weird characters like Professor Pyg.

Read the Flash runs written by Mark Waid and Geoff Johns. They are some of the best comics of the 1990s, and they do some truly awesome stuff with Flash's rogues. Although during that period, Wally West was Flash and not Barry Allen.
