Family Guy -- "Boys Do Cry" -- 04/29/07

"Boys Do Cry"
Spoiler:
The family heads to church when Lois gets a gig as the organist, but after Stewie gets sick, the congregation is convinced he is possessed by the devil. Therefore, the family goes on the run and ends up in Texas. Peter fits right in with the cowboys, Stewie enters the "Little Miss Texas" pageant and Chris and Meg sneak into George W. Bush's house.

Finally... it seems like it's been forever since a new episode. Is Family Guy having a shorter than usual season this year??

A few laughs, the political agenda was lame.

"Hey it's one of those querosexuals"

That was funny. The episode, as a whole, was somewhat funny. However some of the jokes, as usual, went too long (the sneakers one especially).

What the hell was the Jesus in the bath thing? I kept waiting for a punchline and then it just cut away. Weird.

Wasn't it a spoof on some movie? I want to say The Piano for some reason, even though I've never seen it.

I laughed out loud when Brian shot the gun in the air an then the Super Devil fell from the sky. In fact I'm laughing at that again now that I post about it.

I've grown less and less interested in this show over the season and I think this episode killed it for me.

I figured they'd somehow make fun of those Chuck Norris lists on the internet, but nope. Were there just a bunch of references I was missing or something? The fart/burp gag? Dunno... I usually love FG, even the poorer episodes. But I hardly laughed at this one.

Keep the show in Quahog, let the supporting characters do their thing. Quagmire, Adam West, Herbert, etc.

That joke (Behind his beard is another fist) is on the Chuck Norris lists on the internet.

I was excited for this one when I read the description. Horrible letdown.

Is it just because I'm from Texas or were the Texas stereotypes REALLY lame?

Brian going on the paper in the living room was funny. Mr Herbert playing the organ was funny. Stewie and Jesus was a WTF moment. And Chris's "That means you play the organ!" was funny.

The WNBA, Boy's Don't Cry, Chuck Norris jokes, "The Piano"... at least it's all fresh material.

The Bush stuff just felt so obvious and out of place. I don't have a problem with Bush jokes, but pretty much everything (coke, stupidity, etc.) has been covered to death so if you don't have a new angle, why bother.

The Bush stuff didn't bother me at all. They were ruthless to Clinton a few episodes ago, so this seemed like decent "equal time."

It wasn't one of the strongest episodes, but it wan't terrible at all. I still enjoyed the majority of it.

...and yes, that is how I picture all of Texas and Texans.
