I knew it was a reference to something, just wasn't sure what, thanks for the info :p

Haha, nice closing scene.

RUSF18 01-29-06 08:24 PM

Is this still going on?

HE Pennypacker 01-29-06 08:59 PM

Without the Brain/Stewie scenes this episode would barely manage a couple of laughs. I did enjoy the musical number though.

JPRaup 01-29-06 09:07 PM

The beginning and football scenes were soo weak but i liked the rest

Snowmaker 01-29-06 09:12 PM

I didn't get the Fred Flintstone cameo. What was he talking about?

Apparently, it's a callback to a previous episode when they showed him with a gambling problem.

The payoff to Stewie waiting for Brian to get revenge had me laughing my head off for 5 minutes.

Brian vs. Stewie was great, especially after Stewie flambes Brian:

"All right, let's go to the bank."

I thought "Shipoopi" went on too long. Tom Brady cowering in fear at Leno was hilarious.

BlackCapTen 01-29-06 10:09 PM

For some reason my DTivo did not pick this up. I checked the guide and it looks like 8:00-9:00 on Fox was duplicated for 9:00-10:00...no listing of Family Guy or American Dad. I wonder how that happened.

MrX 01-29-06 10:11 PM

The Stewie and Brian scenes were great. I lost it when he shot him in the kneecaps and then toasted him.

Bludvls33 01-29-06 10:26 PM

One of the weakest eps in a long time. Some funny bits, Stewie busting up Brian, Online Porn night, Tom Brady in the shower, but not much overall. Funniest bit was the last second when Brian shoved Stewie as his payback. Friggin hilarious...

I think you pretty much nailed all the funny bits in this eppy. Online Porn Night was F'in funny.

Big Boy Laroux 01-29-06 11:04 PM

shipoopi went on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. and i normally like the stuff that goes on too long (the chicken fight, peter hurting his leg. hell, even tonight with the Brian vs. Stewie stuff.)

Snowmaker 01-29-06 11:14 PM

Tonight was one of the few times where American Dad was funnier. I LOVED the Dexi's Midnight Runners bit in AD.

I agree, and I loved when he was trying to park the car.

mndtrp 01-30-06 12:36 AM

The ending with Stewie's cowering and Brian getting revenge was the best part.

That was the idea. It's a parody of the entire musical number from The Music Man, made ridiculous by using the football game as a backdrop and including most of, if not all, the choreography from the movie. They basically did the same thing with the musical number from Grease, using teenage drug addiction as the context. Great stuff.

spainlinx0 01-30-06 03:00 AM

I love the long takes, but that song was too long even for me. Plus, I had no idea about the reference so I was just really bored during it. Up to that point I had thought it was hilarious though.

Count Dooku 01-30-06 03:59 AM

I felt the Shipoopi number went on too long... for me.

But I give them credit-- when they parody something they parody THE WHOLE THING,
And if you are familiar with the source material, you think it's hilarious.

I can still muster a smile thinking about the "Somewhere That's Green" parody a few weeks ago.

Fixed.

I love FG's production numbers, but this one was just deathly. I kept thinking "This can't possibly go any longer" but it did, a LOT longer.

Paltrow/Tubman had me LOL, but I have no idea why.

Was waiting for Stewie to do Sonny-beating-up-Carlo with the garbage can lid from Godfather..............

Oh that was great.

Chew 01-30-06 06:14 AM

I was so busy focusing on the family as a whole, I missed the lead-up to Stewie getting pushed in front of the bus. I had to rewind it a few times.

Anybody else notice the number of "this is better/worse than the time I...." flashbacks in this episode was way down?

Yeah I did and those were usually the best parts, too.

I resorted to fast forward. Not a good sign.

oh, i got it, but it would have been much better if they cut it down. i appreciate that they like to go all out with their parodies, but this time, it just wasn't funny as it went on. I thought it was funny at first, "hey, he's excessivley celebrating a touchdown with a musical number from the Music Man," but it just didn't work the longer it went on (unlike what I mentioned before - the chicken fight, etc.)

cornflakeguy 01-30-06 10:23 AM

With a name like "Shipoopi", I didn't know if was from anything. I though Seth made it up.

Same here. I thought they had made up a new curse word or something.
