I can guarantee she has endured a lot of confusion and ridicule both unintentional and intentional because of her last name.

granted with the traffic lights going crazy it might not have helped all that much

What does it mean to be a member of shield? It means doing the greater good. It means protecting people from evil. It means having to be judge, jury and executioner. Shield is protecting you from yourself.

On a different note I have What if the Punisher was agent of Shield and What if Wolverine was a agent of Shield comic books.

"The greater good" is a very dangerous expression though, there's always going to be a degree of moral ambiguity about it and disagreement on exactly what is best, much less best for everyone. That's why I like that even if it's mostly lip service, this show has given a bit of thought to moral ambiguity.

Best episode so far. Also the one with the least comedy. Coincidence? I don't think so. Although it did have the best line of the series: "Make it a double." "Is there any other kind?"

Well, if you don't like the show, even with the clout of Disney and the giant film franchise behind it, it looks like the fate which has befallen the past several Whedon shows may be coming soon to this one as well.

What fate would that be? It has already been given a full season order.

The show is not improving and that's why it's bleeding viewers.
It should be as good as Fringe or Torchwood. It's not.

I was one of the 12 people who watched Fringe when it was on and even it took awhile to get going. I am not giving up on the show even though I don't dislike it as much as most seem too. I do hope that now that we have the Skye back story in the open we can get to the other characters.

Fringe took awhile to get going but it was clear from the beginning that even with the stand alone stories, the production quality was there. It was well written and despite the rocky start with Peter, the characters were solid. In other words, they had all the right puzzle pieces from the beginning they just had to fit them together.

Shield is missing a bunch of puzzle pieces and half of the pieces they do have feel like they are from different puzzles. None of it fits together and doesn't appear it will ever make a complete puzzle.

I didn't start liking Fringe until the Season 1 finale. That show took forever to get going. Then it became one of my favorite shows of all time. But that first season is just an X-Files rip-off.

SHIELD is already WAY ahead of Fringe in the enjoyability department for me. This was another solid episode. I like that they mocked the "Scorch" name. Good effects too...I'm surprised they ditched the doctor so early but the "girl in the flower dress" is interesting. I'm curious to see where it goes.

An article on Agents of SHIELD's ratings decline: Does 'Agents of SHIELD' need a superhero? Ratings keep slipping.

I think it's a bit early to proclaim that the sky is falling (like many other ratings reports are doing), because AoS is still doing well regardless (and has a full season order), but some creative retooling should definitely be in order.

I do find it interesting that two of the main reasons this show isn't holding on to its audience are plastered right there in that first image

A well produced, cast, acted, written rip-off. The problem with season one was that at first glance it's 100% MOTW with no big story arc. Of course, as the show goes along you realize that wasn't really the case, but based on the knowledge the viewer had, that's the way it seemed.

Wow, couldn't disagree more. Even though the first season of Fringe was an overt knock-off of the X-files, it's infinitely more enjoyable than this tripe. Hell Heroes was way more entertaining than this and that's saying something.

Alas, I'm off. I might check back later in the season to see if it improved or if it gets retooled. I like the concept, it's just very poorly executed.

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D -- "Girl in the Flower Dress" -- 10/22/13

I stopped watching Fringe after 3 episodes. Cold turkey quit. No enjoyment whatsoever, despite the obvious talent and production value. I just didn't need to sit through X-Files again. I had to force myself through the first season after my wife told me it got better. But again, ended up being a major favorite.

I've enjoyed every ep of SHIELD.

I too think Shield needs some re-tooling, but this past ep. seems to indicate they're working on it.

I'm going to get right to the point: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not good.

Five episodes in, and I'm ready to quit -- and I don't quit anything. I'm still watching Grey's Anatomy, Project Runway and yes, even the boys vs. girls season of America's Next Top Model, but S.H.I.E.L.D. is pushing my limits.

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D -- "Girl in the Flower Dress" -- 10/22/13

If you go back to the original threads on this show, I predicted there would be steep drops when viewers realized the superheroes weren't going to show up in it. Even comic book fans don't think the SHIELD agency by itself is cool, it was cool to see how a spy operation handled being in a world full of superpowered beings. We aren't getting that for the most part, instead we are getting running storylines on a stupid hacker sub-plot.

This is basically Alias 2.0, which very few want anymore. If I were running the show at this point, I would give one of the two main agents some sort of superpower. Give Skye the ability to mentally interface with computers or something.
