Aside from Skye, this is a very patchy show. It is getting better, this week improved merely by giving FitzSimmons very little screen time. I never realized how annoying they were until I noticed they didn't have much to do in this episode.

They stole the Human Torch's uniform and changed it enough nobody at Fox would notice.

This episode while better than what came before still had everything I hate about this show. "Why would Skye do this to us after all we've been through together. I mean we've lived on this plane for three weeks now." Really and the holier than thou attitude that Skye had with her boyfriend was just too much I mean if this episode happened later in this series it maybe wouldn't have been as bad. And I felt the acting from the guest stars was cringe worthy. That's it, I'm done with this show. Off to watch Arrow.

Don't forget the obligatory "In english please" comment! (after fitz and simmons were discussing how Skye was tracking the hacker - Coulson says to Ward "you get any of that?")

i'm liking the improvement over the last 2 episodes, though.

I'm finally out too. Skye is adorable but that's about the only positive this turd has going for it.

It's not a bad show, but there are two things I don't like about it.

1) Skye. I'm sorry, but her storyline is a mess. She's obviously supposed to be the lead character, so stop trying to make the audience think she's a traitor. Not gonna happen. And wouldn't Coulson already know her past?

2) SHIELD itself. In the Avengers, SHIELD seems to have conflicting agendas and loyalties. Fury was playing his own game, and SHIED was not exactly the upright agency it seemed to be. In the new Captain America trailer, this becomes even more apparent. But I don't get that impression at all from this show. SHIELD needs to be more ambiguous, shadowy and dangerous. Sure, the bad guys don't trust 'em, but it would be more interesting if Fitz and Simmons started having doubts too.

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D -- "Girl in the Flower Dress" -- 10/22/13

Yeah, making this "The Skye Show" (guest starring SHIELD) is a HUGE mistake. She's an uninteresting character, broadly sketched and badly acted by an admittedly SMOKIN' actress. Agent Prettyboy Ward is just as bad. This 90210-level bland pouty-ness.

There's no one here with a real personality, someone relatable, someone with humor or heart or grit or anything. Two soulless pin-up leads, two interchangeable and chronically annoying cliche nerd/geek types, the stoic, inscrutable (but hot) seasoned Asian chick... and Coulson.

This can be a great show (and it HAS had one standout episode of really good quality) but retool that cast!

I was hoping for that as well.

Enjoyed this one. It's getting better.

FWIW, a friend who is native Chinese told me that the dialogue spoken was fake Cantonese. The guy who plays Scorch is attempting to speak it but is butchering the words when speaking it.

This show started strong but I'm losing interest with each new episode.

Why do all the super-powered people on this suddenly go insane?

A side effect of the drug being used is causing mental problems.

I thought it was easily the best of the series, and definitely showed some of Shield's dark side.

It's amazing what people miss when they're so busy trying to find trivial things to dislike about it.

I missed it too. I don't remember that being conveyed during the episode at all.

It was in the first episode. And the people working on this guy were the same ones working on the guy in the first episode.

I do like how these at least some degree of moral ambiguity in this show so far. The superhero paradigm to which SHIELD is connected is arguably inherently fascist, I like how it's showing that may SHIELD have unlimited access to everyone's information might have blowback, and maybe the bad guys aren't so bad. How far it'll take this is questionable, since the show will inevitable have to fall into the good guys vs. bad guys mold, but I like how it's at least being given a bit of lip service.

The first episode was different tech though.

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D -- "Girl in the Flower Dress" -- 10/22/13

I'm wondering what effect the Captain America movie will have on this series. The trailer for "Winter Soldier" implies that SHIELD is even more morally questionable than we've been lead to believe. Which is okay for that movie because Cap is our hero. But how will be feel about Coulson and his crew if the organization they're a part of are not all that heroic?

Oh, and reports say that Agent Stillwell (minor character from Thor, Avengers, The Consultant and Item 47) will appear in an upcoming episode.

Same serum in first episode and this one, they were just modifying it. The doctor that was immolated is the same from the first episode.

The tech in the first episode was just the means of delivering the serum to the wearer, if i'm not mistaken.

You mean Jasper Sitwell?

Jasper Sitwell is also a genuine comic book character created by Stan the Man.

Yeah, they were using the platelets in Scorch's blood to stablilze the serum. So of course when they removed the platelets, he went nuts and blew up like everyone else.

Yup... I botched that up. And I did not know he's a legitimate character from the comics. Learn something new everyday.

They should also make the tech a bit more consistent. At one point Agent Prettyboy is leaping through the jungle air -- in SLOW MOTION, mind you -- to jam a staff in the ground that makes all the bad guys go flying away with a wave of cool badass blue plasma energy.

Then Coulson loses someone in a car chase because of a traffic gridlock. No satellite tracking or anything...
