I don't agree that she does nothing on the show, to me she is like the human element, and reminds the group that they are dealing with people and not just the bad guys, and I will miss paget Brewster also, they did not even have Garcia in the photo.

Criminal Minds -- The 6th season thread -- Wednesday's on CBS
Synopsis for "JJ"
Spoiler:
Similar to what I did with the NCIS threads, there will be just 1 thread for Criminal Minds this season
Tonight's episode is AJ Cook's final episode with the series. Her contract was not renewed during the summer and they are writing her out tonight.

AJ Cook BTW, not exactly a replacement, but Rachel Nichols from Alias and Star Trek was hired for 3 episodes as a rookie to the team.

I am pissed they're getting rid of AJ Cook and Paget Brewster. Yet they're stilling going through with the lame spin-off? I can see why CBS went with a spin-off for NCIS as that show I think is the highest rated scripted show on now (and I understand the CSI spin-offs at the time) but Criminal Minds doesn't get mind-blowing ratings, they're solid no doubt but not enough to get a spin-off not to mention a show like CM doesn't need one.
If they want another team, how about 2 or 3 episodes a season Team A joins with Team B (led by Forest Whitaker) for a major case? Instead they'll spend the money on a needless spin-off and get rid of two great members of the original's cast. Makes sense.

If I recall correctly, the ratings for the backdoor pilot weren't especially outstanding either. It was pretty much on par with any normal Criminal Minds episode. I have a feeling we are going to see alot of redundancy with the 2 BAU teams working cases simultaneously.

Though I'm going to miss JJ, I thought this was a fantastic episode. Good story with a happy ending and I thought they gave JJ a really nice sendoff.
A couple questions: When did Hotch become unit chief again, I thought Morgan had been put in charge. Second, Was it just me or did everyone in this episode have a yellowish tint? I was watching in SD if that makes a difference.

Oh and there's no way in hell I'll be watching the spinoff. I HATED the backdoor pilot. Hated every single character.

I'll give the spin-off one shot but like aintnosin said, if it's not great, there will not a second episode for me. Problem is, adding Janine Garafalo really will try my patience.

I'm really annoyed that this show completely treats the local detectives like they're a bunch of idiots who have no idea how to interrogate a suspect.
Last night's episode really emphasized this.
I know it's supposed to be a way of explaining how it's done to the audience (are we idiots as well?) but the constant "why did you say that" "why did she go at him that way" comments followed by the explantations is extremely annoying. There has to be a better way of explaining their methods to us without making the lead detective look like he just graduated from the academy.

I thought that JJ's send-off segment was pretty interesting. The final scenes were equally poignant from the perspective of a close-knit BAU team losing one of its members, or a close-knit acting team losing one of its actors.
I guess it's all about money but losing JJ sucks and the show will lose a little heart without her. Still, I think the actress playing JJ (I'm lousy with names) is stunningly beautiful as well as very talented and I have little doubt she has a bright future.

Here is the rest of the cast:
Hotch: Thomas Gibson
Derek: Shermar Moore
Reid: Matthew Gray Gubler
Prentiss: Paget Brewster
Garcia: Kirsten Vangsness
Rossi: Joe Mantegna
BTW, Did anyone know that Kirsten Vangsness is gay? I just read recently that she got married to her partner about a year ago.

I liked her lines in the opening scenes. Seemed like a direct attack on the shows producers.
Must have been very hard to film that scene.
I agree with Septemberbaby. I have always thought the local cops were portrayed poorly. It's always kinda handled like a "here come the city slickers" slack jawed yokel!
