He was the cop friend on The Player. He was OK in that, but nothing spectacular. Adam Rodriguez is a far better hire, as he's much more charismatic.

Saw the premiere last night.
Liked Rodriguez as Alvez. I've liked him since CSI Miami and the guy has charm. I
at how Garcia was giving him a hard time being the new guy.
I have a feeling the way they're going to write out Gibson is going to be really awkward. I really don't see a smooth way of writing him out. Story-wise they're still trying to find all the fugitives who escaped last season.
Looks like Paget makes her season debut next week.

I am wondering if they added all the stuff with JJ and her husband in place of Hotchner scenes. What the fuck? They showed Paget in the previews last week but she was a no show. What horse shit

Going to be weird next week how they explain him leaving so abruptly.

So tonight's episode is the 1st one with Paget Brewster back in the mix. Gibson's officially out for good.
I'm guessing that Gibson will be wiped out from the opening credits as well.

Well, there you go. Hotch out, Emily in, and she said she's there because the Director tapped Hotch for "special assignment".

re: Criminal Minds (Moving to Paramount +)
Well, tonight's episode we finally learned the fate of Hotch.
The whole being on assignment was a cover story.
Son was being stalked, decides to go into witness protection, resigns from the FBI.
Last request was to make Prentiss the leader of the BAU.
Not surprised they made Prentiss the boss. She was by far the most qualified and you know Rossi wasn't going to take the job.
Considering the circumstances of Gibson's departure, this was probably the best they could do.

The last episode that aired before the Holiday break they introduced the new agent (Stephen Walker -- Gupton's character), who is apparently an old buddy of Rossi's. He was introduced in the last scene.
Not sure they really need him. There's 6 agents not counting Garcia. That already feels like more than enough. Unless they are thinking that since Prentiss is the boss now, she will be taking a less active role in the field. The previous episode Prentiss mentioned she freed up some money in the budget to hire the new agent.

I've watched the 1st new episode with new addition Damon Gupton (Stephen Walker) as part of the cast.
Honestly, I don't think he's needed. Cast feels kind of bloated now with him.
According to Criminal Minds showrunner, it wasn't her decision. CBS made the decision to add him.
http://tvline.com/2017/01/12/crimina...-gibson-fired/
and she can't comment about the Gibson thing due to legal reasons, but said she didn't like writing him out.

Been letting these pile up on the TiVo, just watched the ep where they introduced Stephen Walker, coinciding with Spencer going on leave. Thought to myself, is another character leaving? And it's rumored that, indeed, Matthew Grey Gubler will be leaving the show. The good news is, it'll include a storyline
This show should have ended a season or so ago. I really hope they don't renew it again. It'll be an all new cast by then! I remember there was a time where I couldn't get enough of this show. That time has long passed.

It's not doing horrible, but ratings are down and I think it's getting way too expensive to continue making now. The show has barely gotten renewed the last few seasons because of cast contracts and cost.
Also, I think they got a lot of shit from Gibson being fired. Might be time to wrap it up.

yeah, super expensive now that it's been on the air forever and ratings are down slightly. it got a last minute renewal last year, so i doubt it's coming back. it had a good run.

I will be sad to see this go, but it has been on forever. For me, it was one of those shows that wasn't appointment television, and I didn't really look forward to it each week, but when I got around to it I got sucked in. As has been stated before, it must cost a fortune to produce and doesn't have a ton of viewers. I know a lot of people, including an actor or two, got turned off by the dark, grisly stories they told each week.

Wow, renewed for a 13th season: http://ew.com/tv/2017/04/07/criminal-minds-renewed/
Really surprised. Still watching, but really thought this was the end of the road.

Wow. That is incredible since it was basically last show renewed last season. This overall arc of having the serial killers escape from prison has been good.

Did a binge watch last night and finished the season.
The finale actually aired last week. They resolved the Reid frame-up arc. Aubrey Plaza came back to the show to play the psycho that she played a few seasons ago. Plus, they brought back another female character from 10 years ago that aided in framing Reid.
Shemar Moore appeared in the finale, but only for like 5 minutes.
They must have been pretty confident they were coming back since the season ended on a cliffhanger with the BAU cars being hit by a truck.

They also brought back Beth Reisgraf for a second as drug hallucination. That was weird with Jane Lynch. They didn't show her face until the end. Like in the car or cabin. Odd. Crazy they are carrying over the Mr. Scratch story line.

My biggest complaint was the Reed stuff. I liked that it happened, but it dragged on for far too many episodes.

Daniel Henney (Simmons from the cancelled Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders) is joining the show as a series regular. He will play the same character.

Damon Gupton, who played Walker, was let go earlier this month.
