SEASON PREMIERE CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED, BUSINESS-THEMED "SHARK TANK" RETURNS TO ABC FOR SEASON 5, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 Barbara Corcoran and Lori Greiner Go Head to Head for the First Time Ever "Shark Tank" is back for a fifth season, with the Sharks continuing the search to invest in the best businesses and products that America has to offer. In 2013 "Shark Tank" received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality Program and won the Summer TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Reality Programming. The Season Premiere, "Episode 504," airs FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. In the Premiere, Barbara Corcoran and Lori Greiner will go head to head for the first time ever. Two guys from Dallas, TX hope to bring a little sweetness to the masses with their savory cake balls; two doctors who are also brothers from Tucson, AZ, claim they have a social media cure for the old-school communication between patients and medical professionals; two sisters-in-law from Firecrest, WA pitch their business for gourmet pickles made from a 100-year-old family recipe; and a tech-savvy entrepreneur from Los Angeles, CA has a mobile app that allows a modern way to send a traditional postcard. Also, an update on Tracy Noonan and Danielle Desroches from Cohasset, MA and their Wicked Good Cupcakes business, which Kevin O'Leary invested in during Season 4. The Sharks in this episode of "Shark Tank" are Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec and Kevin O'Leary. Mark Burnett, Clay Newbill and Phil Gurin are the executive producers of "Shark Tank," which is based on the Japanese "Dragons' Den" format created by Nippon Television Network Corporation. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television. "Shark Tank" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format with stereo sound. This program carries a TV-PG parental guideline. For more information on "Shark Tank," visit ABC.com. Season Premiere is Friday night on ABC. The other thread is 4 years old and almost 1,000 posts deep. I think it's time for an update. Started watching the show in the spring, got hooked. Have been DVRing repeats all summer long. Love it. Favorite new reality show. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Yeah, the show is pretty good. In fact, I just stopped by Bed Bath and Beyond to buy some Scrub Daddies this morning. As if Lori needed more money. But the product works!
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Always look forward to Shark Tank.
Hopefully they push more products this year that aren't food related. It seemed last season everything was some sort of online food delivery. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Love this show, mostly because of Kevin and Mark Cuban. I agree about the food crap. Too much if it last year.
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
I also agree about the food stuff. OOOH, a new yogurt. OOOOH, a new cookie. Fuck that. Invent something cool like the iRobot or the Fleshlight.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
So what items have you guys purchased that were on the show? I've bought:
- Mission Belt. I love it. - Buggy Beds. We stayed at a camp and thought we got bed bugs. We put these under our own bed at home, but nothing showed up (phew!). I can't say if it worked or not, obviously, but it was cheap. - Copa da Vino? Something like that. The single-serving wine thing. The wine was okay. Nothing special. I kept the plastic glasses for awhile, but threw them out a few weeks ago. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
and as a viewer you want to be able to 'play along' and decide what will and won't sell. That's hard to do when you can't try the food they're trying to sell.
I also purchased the Mission Belt. It's awesome. I'm wearing it right now actually. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
The first time I put it on, I made it way too tight and had a REALLY hard time figuring out how to unlatch it. It was worsened by the fact that I really had to piss. Now, though, I have zero problems. I had to lend it to my brother on his wedding night (he forgot his belt). He had troubles undoing it at first, too. :eyebrow:
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
 I had the same problem. Just couldn't figure out how to open the damn thing the first time around. I had to go #2 and I was at work. Went to the bathroom, couldn't figure out how to undo it. Gave up and went back to work. I figured that I would just wait till I got home and if I couldn't figure it out by then I would cut the belt off at home. That didn't work because a little while later I had to go. I HAD TO GO. Ran into the bathroom and went back to fidgeting with the thing and finally figured it out. Boy was I relieved, in more ways than one.
For those interested in the Mission Belt... it's a great belt and in order to take it off, push it in a little and pull it out. |

Yes!

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
We've only purchased the scrub daddy. I considered the mission belt, but I wear a belt so infrequently, that sort of talked me out of purchasing one.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Hopefully Robert will actually put some money down this season. Sick of him always looking for a reason to go out.

It's funny how Robert rarely makes any investments let alone a solo investment.
It seems like 8 times out of 10, he says no. I agree with pretty much everyone here, I want to see less food investments and more creative stuff. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
I think the only thing I have purchased was the scrub daddy. I still mostly use regular sponges.
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Wow. You guys really like those little sponges.

Mark was brutal on those doctors. Their product was stupid so i guess they deserved it. Yay more stupid food! |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Yeah, that doctor thing was awful.
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
 at Rolodoc. One of the stupidest inventions ever.
Loved how Mark was rolling his eyes every time they mentioned Social media. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
A facebook/twitter for medical advice sounds brilliant.
What could possibly go wrong? |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
BTW,
Anyone here ever watch Dragon's Den? The Canadian version that came before this? Pretty decent stuff. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
No, but I've wanted to see it. Can't seem to find it anywhere, though.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
I didn't watch Shark Tank last year, who is Lori? She doesn't seem to fit in with the other sharks, at all, and the whole "QVC! QVC!" cheerleading is kind of annoying.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Gotcha.
Honestly, I'm surprised this show isn't more popular, though it has grown a good bit every season - especially for a Friday show (It is routinely the highest rated show on Fridays in the demo) |

Mark Cuban looked like Frankenstein with that Botox, very distracting.
I thought Dragons Den originated in England, I remember watching episodes on BBCA like 7 years ago. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Naw, Dragons Den originated in Japan.

Interesting to see Barbara and Lori on the same panel. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
It was almost the end of the show where I finally realized they had two females on at once.
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
This is the only reality show I watch. Absolutely love it and the funny thing is my wife and kids sit with me to watch it. Usually we're all over the house watching different things.
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
great family show, watch with the whole family
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
 @ Rolodoc
How is that a good idea? Zocdoc was a great idea and invention. I still have no idea what Rolodoc even is. I've seen those cake balls at 7-11 before so I knew the Sharks would be all over it. Never had them but they look damn good. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Yeah, that is a pretty good price for cake balls. I can see them taking off.
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
I went to the local 7-11 after the episode aired to see if they had them. No luck. I would have bought a few packs for $1.99 each.
