The obvious issue with her pitch was that despite the beautifully designed lingerie from that company and four male sharks, the lingerie was being worn by...plastic dummies. Did ABC forbid them from allowing models to wear the lingerie on air? Something was going on with that pitch, I don't think everything was on the up and up.
I just think she was that arrogant that all she had to do was show up show her lingerie and say she was from Silicon Valley and they would give her money. Came across as a really dislikable person, sort of like the spoiled rich girl a couple weeks back that made the bags that helped the African women.

Yes, she made a very bad impression. Conceited to the nth.

I didn't understand the glove guy - Robert and Lori were offering him a much better deal. Seems like some people on the show go on there just to try and make a deal with Cuban, when he's probably the LAST shark you'd want to deal with. Cuban is going to make what he can and then sell off his ownership.

Same with the meat guy...I thought he got a pretty good offer from Kevin.

I guess most want Cuban's tech connections or his sports connections. Most of the pitches have little interest in taking a deal from Kevin. I almost view Kevin as a moderator or host of some kind on this show.

I think Robert and Lori knew Cuban had a huge advantage with that presenter, which is why they were willing to top Cuban's offer so much.

I'm 51, so granted not in the target market for the "gloving" scene. If that was presented as an SNL skit or a parody, I would have laughed. But, guess money (sales) talks.

Looking forward to Step Up 5 - The Glovening.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II

The Melni connector was very impressive but it seems a very important question was left out. What does the standard metal connector cost? I'd imagine around a buck or two versus the $39 Melni is asking? That's a big ass jump no matter how much time is saved. Seems like a deal that might get dropped behind the scenes, especially for the amount of coin Cuban dropped on it.

Pitt Moss is a solid idea, especially if the 'green' version is 20% cheaper than standard peat moss. Like Melni the presentation was missing a key piece though, some real world samples. I wanted to see a flower/plant grown in Pitt Moss and one grown in standard peat moss. If his truly requires less water then you should be able to tell, right? If two were watered at the same times, say 12 hours earlier, the pitt moss would feel damp, right? I'm with Barbara, just way too much conjecture. Even without sales, it seems like such an easy product to demonstrate a proof of concept. Despite that he pulled in three sharks, so kudos to that guy.

As for the flavored baby wipes... get the fuck out. Just wipe your kid's face. It takes 10 seconds. Oh my, I can't bear the tears... the humanity! Good grief.

I thought both the Melni connector and Pitt Moss were very impressive products. I could easily see the Melni taking off if they can get production costs down because nobody in commercial is going to pay that type of premium to save an hourly worker 10 minutes.

Pitt Moss looks like a total winner. I know we'd give it a try this spring if it becomes available.

A lot of products on Shark Tank have no market if they can't significantly drive unit costs down. That connector is a classic example.

Melni connector might be a tough one. Looked really expensive and the electric companies may buy those other connectors for a quarter or less, essentially a short metal extrusion. Not sure the utilities are going to be that concerned about using them unless they can show that the increase in productivity more than covers the extra cost and that is not a simple sale to executives and bean counters. No brainer though to the lineman themselves. I don't see any home use, electrical connectors for 110 like that are super cheap in hardware stores.

Pitt Moss was a good one, but seems like they need a $50 million dollar plant and significant penetration, or a law against real peat moss to be successful.

Mr. Wonderful's offers are usually so bad, I have to think they are almost done as a joke. Any patent holding startup that takes debt equity is an idiot.

Mr. Wonderful's schtick is growing real old. He's just the naysayer and the guy who offers horrible "loans".

Agreed, yet they got a deal, didn't they? I can't remember. Hard to believe believe how many inane products/companies on this show get investments, but we live in an age of gross stupidity.

Um, no, Robert, it isn't.

I think what happens is that certain Sharks have pre-existing pipelines ready made for certain products, so the investment on their end isn't very much. Damon has a huge licensing empire, so any product that benefits from licensing is an easy sell to Damon since it requires little additional work for him.

Buck Mason didn't want a deal when they turned Robert's offer down. I am guessing they were only going to take a deal from Damon if he had offered more favorable terms. The clothing looked fairly ordinary, I didn't think much of their brand.

I heard Pat Boone on some radio show several months ago, and he said that the product he was connected with got the biggest deal ever. I had almost forgotten about it, but its next week...

That price for jeans was hilarious. I pay $15-$20 for jeans.

I've only watched a few times. I hate that the sharks get offended if someone wants to hear everyone's offers before making a decision. I'm sure there are business situations where that happens but in general I'd expect successful business people to hear more than one offer before rushing into a decision, especially a decision to sell partial ownership of your company

They didn't want a deal at all. They were there for free marketing.

That was my impression.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II

The finale had some interesting ideas(also good seeing Nick back):

Shark Wheel - very interesting, but man that's a tough sell without trying it in a store, whether it's a skateboard or a stroller.

Sway - very, very cool. I'm glad he managed to eke out a deal at the last second. What's funny/sad is that no one tried the thing. This product would have greatly benefitted from Robert being there. He would have been zipping all around the studio and would have made a deal in a heartbeat. Lastly did he say $7,995? Holy shit.

Spikeball - Looks pretty fun but $60+shipping for a ball and a net? Bwahahaha. Looks like a $20 product, and that's on the high side. GTFO.

Gato Cafe - Wha? Maybe it's because I'm not a pet person but who the fuck would pay to visit this place? I understand the Japanese being into something weird like this, but America? As a non pet person, I'm never going there, and pet people? Uh, they already have pets at home. Who is this for?

Because it's all reality TV bullshit. This show is no different, it's all done for drama.

I know I'd drive the $10k air-powered car.

The cat cafe may be trend to jump and profit a little. No way that stays around past 5-10 years.
