Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
I think that UV cellphone case company wanted to partner with Cuban but had to take the much better offer from Lori. I thought Cuban's strategy was more sound for their product in the long run. QVC's demographic skews very old and almost exclusively female.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
I'm on the fence on who's strategy makes more sense on PhoneSoap (horrible name). I get Mark's idea, but it definitely felt like it would be a slow burn vs. potential overnight success tossing it on QVC or in Bed Bath & Beyond.
Also I think his contingency was BS. As soon as he brought that up I assumed this would be one of those deals made on screen but falls through after the show airs. I think Lori was the safer bet.

I thought the Sharks missed an opportunity with the Almond Water owners. That guy was so eager to please, a shark could have walked away with ownership in the company for a small investment...but they never even pitched an offer.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
I thought Lori came off looking really bad in that BedJet segment. The poor guy had 3 people screeching at him. "But I was yelling the loudest". What a petty, whiny bitch. And I kinda liked her before, even though she has a bit of an inferiority-complex around the other sharks.
Segments like that one are a perfect example of why I prefer the Canadian show. The American sharks are a bunch of obnoxious, self-important brats that want business owners to lick their feet. The Canadian dragons each present their offers and give the business owner time to make a decision. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
I've never really liked Lori because she pulls that "you need to make a decision now, or I'm out" crap all the time. She really did look petty and childish. The guy very clearly was in salesman mode, but he's up there and 3 different people are yelling out questions at him at a time. It really is unrealistic to expect him to just sit there and figure out who to answer first.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Honestly, I really didn't like that guy, and I did think it was very odd that she was getting agitated, and he deliberately ignores her to turn towards Barb. Yes, she acted petulant, but it's unfair to say her tactics are unfair when Cuban usually does the same strategy.
|
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Lori and Cuban are definitely the most targeted sharks beforehand by presenters. All the Internet plays want to work with Cuban and Lori has her QVC connection.
I agreed that the bed warming device was priced too expensively. The sharks did not invest with him because the economics of building up inventory would have made that business extremely risky. |

I didn't like him either but Lori was a total bitch during that pitch. She should have been snapping at Barbara for interrupting her.

I need one of those floating drink holders.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
oh man, i totally would've loved to have seen that woman throw lori under the bus and see what cuban's offer was.
the problem with that floating drink thing, is that guy needs to market that in the southern half of the US. people with pools. he's like "we have massachusetts" and I'm thinking, nobody has a pool there! |

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Daymond is easily going to make that $50K back between March and October just licensing them to all the Vegas resorts. Bros will easily plunk down $15 to protect their $10 beers at the Vegas pools.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
The floating cup holder is a very regional item, limited to the warmer parts of the country. It's not a product that will make you billions but there probably is a niche for it.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
The only way Gold Rush bucket guy should have got a deal is if it came with a DeLorean.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Naw, they'll make a profit off that crap. That said Lumi chick is annoying as fuck.

<- Not a woman, but the fanny pack bra looked ingenious to me. My wife was snoozing so I couldn't get her feedback.
The Gold Rush bucket would be perfect for Brookstone. $100 is absurd for any big box retailer. Agreed on Lumi chick. One thing I've learned marathoning this show, anyone coming in offering up 5% is simply there for the free publicity. She didn't come in looking for a deal. Lastly, the custom sandals was just a rehash of the much better OneSole idea. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
Lumi definitely didn't want a deal, that was a commercial for her product. Turning down multiple sharks meant she either had one shark in mind (Cuban) or didn't want a deal in the first place.

rotfl at the contrived crabbiness.
All great concepts in this episode. |
Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
That was a let-down last night, all the hoopla about the pissed off sharks.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II
I did feel Robert was legitimately pissed.
Not exactly sure why, tho. |
