I only wish they'd have shown Skylar telling Junior.

It hadn't occurred to me that phone call was purposeful, but I hope that's right. Makes sense, since he had to know the cops would be there.

Riveting hour. Fantastic job by Gilligan and his staff.

Hank went out like a man. Good swan song for Dean Norris. That was so brilliant with Walt's reaction. I think it finally hit him of all the evil shit he's done and the consequences.

Loved Walt's confession to Jesse about Jane. Everything came into full circle in this episode. We saw how really evil and diabolical Walt and that he is still human and cares about his family. I agree the threat was his goodbye to Skyler and his kids.

The emotions of Cranston's acting on that phone call was really moving. I'm happy he gave Holly back.

Man, my heart is still racing.

Sorry, but i in no way think Walt deserved his family going against him the way that they did. The worst thing he did was poisoning Brock, which wasnt a big deal to begin with.

I don't see how anyone can be siding against Walt. He was desperate, thought he was dying and everything he did, he did for his family. Even after Skylar pulled a knife on him and Flynn goes against him (which to me was a little hard to believe how fast he turned), he still calls the house well knowing the police are there & listening & makes it a point to say Skylar knew nothing about his actions that way she wont be held accountable. Also, he tried making amends with Jessie, but Jessie thought Walt was setting him up in last weeks episode when he went to meet him. It wasnt until Jessie called him threatening to go after him making Walt feel his family was in danger & turned on Jessie. After all Hank has done to try to bring Walt down, Walt STILL begged and pleaded for his life and offered $80 MILLION to not kill him. I believe Walt acted in haste taking Holly and realized he had made a mistake when she kept calling out for her mother which is why he left her at the fire station. Anyway, Walt got screwed every which way by EVERYONE, but his intentions were always on taking care of his family when he was gone.

I still want to believe that there is good left in Walt, but man when he decided to gut punch Jesse with the truth about Jane, that was just pure evil. It served no purpose but just pure revenge.

Given he probably blamed Jesse for everything that just happened in the desert, I can see why he wanted to really punish Jesse.

His intention was very clear. He was cying his eyes out the whole time.

"Pure evil"? Like I said, Walt TRIED making amends with Jessie. It wasnt until Jessie called Walt threatening to go after him where "he really lives" that Walt felt his family was in danger and went against Jessie. I dont think Walt is "the devil" like some of you put it or evil.

Walt gave up Jesse and told him about Jane because he blames Jesse for the whole catastrophe that ended up with Hank dead. And now add to that Walt is permanently isolated from all of his family.

Yeah, I see it now after re-watching. "What did you know about any of it? Nothing...I built this, me alone..." Between that and his willingness to give up his entire fortune in a vain effort to save Hank, Walt had some redemption (but yeah, not so much with Jesse).

Hey guys did you all watch the new Dexter? Hannah was making dinner and Deb was all like "you're an excellent cook you should go on a cooking show, you'd win!" They're friends now.

Television at its finest.

Anyone see the teaser during Talking Bad?

Spoiler:
It was brief, but you heard Saul's voice (phone call?), where Saul says, "If they can't get to you, they'll go after them (showing Walt's family). How much time do you think you have left?" I don't see the angle where the neo-Nazis would need to go after Walt or his family, unless Walt threatens them for the return of his money. In any event, the house still has to be seized or condemned, and someone needs to spray paint 'Heisenberg' on the wall. Really curious to see how all of this plays out.

There was a shot of Walt angling the rearview mirror in the car to a spot in the desert that wasn't dug up. Maybe $80M wasn't his total stash?

He was looking back at two freshly dug, unmarked graves.

speculation about teaser:
Spoiler:
That teaser had things that had to have happened prior to Walt being picked up by the van in this episode, or upon his return. My guess is that it was before

plus he crushes that phone afterwards for good measure.

Brilliant hour of TV. The acting, camera work...loved that frame of "phone or knife" right before Skyler goes for the latter. That phone call between Walt and Skyler was a heartbreaker...beautiful.

Watching these promos for Hell on Wheels and Low Winter Sun, AMC has a big hole to fill.

Re: Breaking Bad -- "Ozymandias" -- 9/15/13

Fuck. I really didn't want it to happen but after the end of last week's episode it was almost inevitable that people were dying tonight. I feel bad for Gomez as he really got roped in to this by trying to help out Hank. As far as Hank even though he was only wounded at the start of this it was bound to happen. There really wasn't much else he could have done to get away that would have been believable. At least he went out like a man instead of cowering.

In that moment I thought for a split second Walt was kind of redeeming himself a bit in feeling bad for getting Hank killed, but then he still gave up Jesse and to add insult to injury him confessing to watching Jane die just to rub it in. What a fucking bastard. It's not like there has been a question before tonight whether he was good or not but he's done so much wrong but at least a lot of stuff is coming full circle.

Jesse being taken away and beaten and forced to cook is equally shitty. Plus he has to worry about the safety of Andrea and Brock. I really wonder what will happen now with him. Obviously it seems like Todd is going to convince his uncle and the group to keep Jesse alive for a while yet while he perfects his cook but after that who knows. Have to wonder about the safety of Marie now too. I don't think Jesse is so heartless that he'll sacrifice her life to save his own skin to let them get the tape but again he also has Andrea and Brock to protect too so I'll be curious to see how that plays out.

The Skyler and Marie moment with Walt Jr. and his reaction to what his father really is was just sad on so many levels. Walt Jr. is really one of the only truly innocent people on this show and his whole life has just went to hell. Then of course when Skyler, Walt Jr., and Holly got home to find Walt in a craze packing and telling them they had to go and Skyler figuring out that Hank's dead was just heartbreaking. Walt did this all for his family but all he's really done is destroyed everything in his path and whatever was important to him has been sacrificed. The moment with Skyler and the knife I almost didn't know what to think she'd do. For a second I almost thought she was going to just kill herself but then the proceeding battle between her and Walt was just, wow. So frightening and just sad to see what Walt has done to his family.

I really was surprised to see Walt grab Holly before he left but was glad when he came to his senses and left her in the firetruck. Also it didn't even occur to me at first that Walt's conversation with Skyler was possibly done to protect her until I read it here. Maybe he's done one thing right to at least try and protect her so that she doesn't go to jail and their kids will still have their mother.

I have to say I think that without a doubt in my mind this has easily skyrocketed to the top two or three shows ever made in my mind. Not that it wasn't close to being there already but these last six episodes so far have just cemented it even more. There's two episodes to go obviously before it's all over but I think that this series is about as close to perfection as anything ever has been. There truly will never be anything like it again or if there is I can't see it coming for a long, long time.

It's not the same coat. From these images...

Todd

I believe it's a different coat. Someone verified here an episode or two ago.

The cold open was definitely newly shot footage.

Since scenes are always shot out of order, my guess is that Cranston was wearing a wig and shaved the goatee after filming of the present day scenes wrapped. Aaron Paul was also clean shaven.

Ahh good thing then! Thanks!

Interesting that the episode both begins and ends with Walt calling Skylar, and lying each time.

Re: Breaking Bad -- "Ozymandias" -- 9/15/13

Wait. What would have happened had Walt offered to cook in exchange for Hank's life? Sure they made their decision to kill at the outset, but would that have changed anything? Assuming they don't find Jesse that is.

As for Marie's safety, I'm assuming that she, like Skyler, Walt Jr. and Holly (once recovered), will be under protection. Due to the threats and of course because Hank is missing.

That makes sense. They showed him sighing after looking in the mirror. My first reaction was that it was a sigh of relief. Now I see it was something else.
