Its been half a year and still none of these guests. No wonder he is losing to Robot Chicken reruns.

Re: The Arsenio Hall Show

He got Eddie Murphy and the audience was sucking his dick though he has not done anything good outside of Shrek since the 80's.

Guess who is on tonights show?

Re: The Arsenio Hall Show

Glad to hear Arsenio's show is doing well enough to be renewed. I haven't watched this incarnation, but I've always liked the man (I watched his first show back in the late-'80s). As Michael Corvin pointed out, he's a sincere interviewer.

This guy continues to drop that 'knowledge'.

Prince will be the sole guest on march 5 http://www.thewrap.com/prince-taking...ll-show-video/ Would that count as 'getting A list talent'? Especially knowing that Prince doesn't do TV appearences often

No, he doesn't, but he did do New Girl recently. He did George Lopez in 2011. He also did Arsenio back in the day. I'm sure there have been more. Certainly not a lot, but he does get out there occasionally.

Is he A list? I'm of two minds about it. Can anyone here name a Prince song from the last 10 years? I'd bet most Prince fans can't name much he's done in the last 2 decades (though he has done much).

That said, it's Prince. I'd watch him play a ukulele. I've seen him create magic too many times.

Re: The Arsenio Hall Show

I just think Eddie is way overrated.

Prince did Fallon in 2013 too and he broke one of the Roots guitars.

Check that on the 2nd season, Cancelled now.

CBS, who produces the show, changed their minds.

I was wondering why it went into rerun pretty quickly. So much for that spot where Leno comes out to give him the news he was renewed.

Re: The Arsenio Hall Show

Arsenio should get together with Jay and Dave and do a sitcom about washed-up late night comedians.

Re: The Arsenio Hall Show

I thought the repeats were on this week because of Memorial Day since Fallon and Seth Meyers are all also showing repeats this week.

Maybe Arsenio can replace Ferguson ?

He can join George Lopez with failed talked shows catering to the young urban audience.

I think the Pete Holmes show on TBS also got axed.

One wonders if Arsenio had never done a show if he might have been a prime candidate to replace Dave?

Considering though that his now-cancelled show was through CBS Television (syndicated), he has absolutely ZERO chance of getting Ferguson's job. CBS wants nothing to do with him right now.

Thanks for posting that. I was wondering what was going on and was about to do a search. I had no idea what the actual vs desired ratings were. The only thing I'd seen was in the beginning when he mentioned doing well. A 60% drop is a big drop.

It's really difficult to go back to the well. As I've said before, a lot of what Arsenio did well actually falls under Fallon these days.

Re: The Arsenio Hall Show

I know Wands Sykes was the guest host last week. Are they just avoiding reruns or are they looking for a host for a later slot? I don't pay much attention to late night and have a passing interest in Kimmel. I generally record his show (DVR is set to a miserly 3 before it records over) and see if there is anyone I like on the show and then I'll watch - which is rare. He's the only daily late night I can stand.
I loved Arsenio and Letterman back in the late 80s but since then... meh.

KImmel is just reviving the long-standing Carson tradition of using guest hosts when he is on in primetime or on vacation, instead of showing reruns. Plus there is more curiosity factor to get tune-ins.

It points to an interesting question: do people want (more) to see the host they know, even if it is a rerun, or are they drawn more by the interviews and daily topical humor, no matter who's hosting?

In terms of ABC auditioning new hosts, notice that the guests hosts are celebrities who would never take such a job (Brie Larson, Jennifer Lawrence) or solid comedy veterans (Sykes and Hall). If ABC was auditioning, it would be bringing in fresh faces.

Re: The Arsenio Hall Show

I wish Arsenio was the permanent host of Kimmel.

Kimmel is not that funny and Arsenio does not have that constant annoying laugh or laughs to kiss the ass of his guests like Kimmel does when he interviews people.
