This is like the Skylar stuff. At the moment, Jesse is running contrary to Walter White's best interests so therefore a lot of people watching this show don't like him. The Skylar's a bitch stuff ramps way up when she's not acting in the way Walter would like if you haven't noticed.
In reality, what Jesse is doing is tragic and represents his deep guilt over his unwitting role in the death of the child. In both terms of Walter White's criminal enterprise and perhaps in terms of what is entertaining TV, he's being a real stick in the mud.

Walt is the main character of the show so I can sort of see why people kind of root for him in ways but honestly it's a realistic approach in my opinion what they've done with Jesse. He's placed in a total shit situation where he's done a lot of bad things and if he tries to rectify what he's done he goes to jail for sure (which is his fault for agreeing to partake but still he sort of had his hand forced) or could wind up killed. Not sure how people expect him to react.
I always had the same reactions to the people who called ragged on Skyler for the way she acted out against Walt when she found out what was really up. People don't just get into a situation like this and brush it off like it's no big deal. Walt has done stuff to place many people including his family and Jesse in danger, has killed numerous people by now, and on top of everything is committing a major crime. If it were real I'm pretty sure people would react similarly (provided that you aren't a cold blooded person who's okay with murder and crime).

From what we saw of him prior to hooking up with Walt (which wasn't much at all) I gather that he was a small time dealer and mostly a junkie. Was he a model citizen? No, but I think more than anything he was a misguided person who was on the wrong track and needed someone to set him straight. I don't think he necessarily was deserving of rotting in prison (maybe serve a sentence for a while to straighten him up).

As an RN that deals with the effects of meth on practically a daily basis, Jesse can kiss my ass. Don't give two shits that he feels bad now. How many lives did he ruin prior to Walt? How many children were fucked over due to Jesse selling to their parents, etc. Fuck Jesse.

Whatever agree to disagree then. I still don't think there's a lot of basis to go off of for judging his character prior to being involved with Walt. A dumb nickname doesn't prove a lot (especially considering from the knowledge we do have of him prior to Walt it didn't seem like he knew exactly what he was doing). I'm also prone to the whole thing I said before in that people make mistakes, especially ones who are on drugs. Doesn't make what he was doing right but I still find him more misguided than anything.

His parents knew his character. Didn't know what he was doing? He was coloring his own product so it would stand out from others. He can cry his sorrow away in prison. Don't want him to die or nothing.

He wasn't coloring his product. The blue meth didn't start until Walt came along and they began using the methylamine. He added chili pepper as his "special ingredient" which I doubt distinguished it much from other product on the streets. As for his parents they knew he was a junkie I don't recall them saying that they knew he was some big time dealer or whatever.

Didn't matter if they knew he was a dealer or not. They knew he was a junkie. WE know he was a manufacturer and dealer. So, I may be wrong that the chili powder didn't alter the color of it, (don't remember if we actually saw his product) but he knew enough about producing it that the chili powder would signal it as his product.

Whatever we disagree it's cool. I'm not trying to argue that he wasn't involved in meth at all I just don't think it was nearly to the scale it became after he began cooking with Walt. Any is enough to be wrong and I understand your position dealing with it's outcomes on people's lives in your real job, but I also think that a lot of people who are junkies (like Jesse) choose the wrong path and need to be set straight and clearly while they're doing what they're doing aren't in the clearest state of mind most of the time. By everything we've seen it seems like his parents basically just gave up on him and he probably didn't really have anyone in his life to knock sense into him..
I see your point, but how long were his parents trying to knock some sense into him? He may have been small scale prior to Walt, but how much did he produce on his own? I don't hate him, I do have some empathy for him, but if he rots in prison, he needs to do the time because he earned it.

Right and I can agree that a prison sentence isn't out of the question. I guess I thought by you saying rot you meant that he deserves to spend his entire life there and die or something which I don't agree with. I think he deserves his time for what he's done (however long that may be who actually knows).

I would think Jesse is looking at a lot of time as is stands, unless he turns state's evidence on Walt. I don't know how you explain away a duffel bag with $5 Million in cash.

Money gets confiscated, sure..... But you need proof of a crime.
Taxes, maybe?

How about this:
When Walter Whyte finally takes the ricin and slowly starts to die, he's visited by the ghosts of the people he's wronged over the years: Jane, Gale, the little boy, etc....
