all of those shows sound truly awful especially the Michael J. Fox one. I dont wanna see him on tv playing a parody of his illness. I prefer to remember him how he was.

Vote of confidence for parenthood giving it the best lead in possible other than the voice with Michael j fox ... It won't win the slot, but if it can continue to carve out a solid number, maybe it can get a nice second life here..l maybe ray Romano gets re-signed...

A full Season of Parenthood this year gives it enough episodes for syndication. I imagine this will likely be the final Season unless all of their new dramas bomb hard. It has a very large cast.

I dunno I think Fox still has a pretty decent fanbase that'll probably tune into his show. Plus from the sounds of it it'll be a family friendly sitcom starring a well known and liked actor. The older crowds along with his fanbase will most likely eat it up. I don't see it failing unless it really isn't well written or something.

You obviously didn't see him on Curb Your Enthusiasm. He was hilarious.

He's an 80's TV/Movie star that, beyond a few cameos, hasn't played first fiddle to a TV show since Spin City.
It'll start good...before getting down to mid 1's.
I'll watch, I like Fox, but I'm not gong to pretend this is going to be a hit. NBC must have not either if they scheduled it at 9:30.

4. Syndication money.
Once again, a shame since I actually like Fox (someone mentioned his Curb appearance), and whatsherface from Breaking Bad. But everyone else...bleh. The clip posted was pretty bad.
I guess there is not much of a show he could reasonably do, but it just seems like a fit for ABC paired with The Middle (I think I'm the only one here who likes that show).
BTW, I like how as I posted that, a review for Family Ties was at the top of the page. Good job, DVDTalk!

Re: NBC announces Fall 2013 schedule
So NBC has gone full "family show" mode on Thursday nights with the only exception being Parks and Rec. That's fine and dandy but it also looks like the blandest 2.5 hours of TV a week. Sean Saves The World is obviously their attempt at Two and a Half Men. Welcome to the Family looks like a terrible 30 minute version of Parenthood and the Michael J Fox show just makes me depressed.
I give NBC props for going with the quirky and over the top with workplace comedies the past decade (The Office, Parks and Rec, Community, 30 Rock, etc; ) but you would figure, at some point, they would realize what really works and doesn't work out there. I can't say they're making the same mistake ABC is (ABC had one monster hit about a family (Modern Family), not realizing it's a show about families aimed at people in their 20s and 30s they paired it up with 3 other actual family shows and the ratings are suffering. Dumbasses.)

Only 3, but the shows about "family" on broadcast right now:
Modern Family
The Neighbors
The Middle
Suburgatory
Raising Hope
Parenthood
Fox's entire animation block (Bob's Burgers, The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, The Cleveland Show)
The New Normal
Family Tools
How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Lives
Last Man Standing
Malibu Country
Probably missed a few.
The highest rated sitcoms on TV right now: The Big Bang Theory, 2.5 Men, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother
