The producers of Revolution thanks Fox for bringing back 24. It makes decisions on which actress to cast in their show much easier.

I'm down for 12 episode seasons

When I first read the news last night, I thought 12 episodes would be an ideal number, so I'm glad to see conformation of it! With 12 episodes, each episode can cover 2 hours if the producers want to keep with the theme that each season covers one full day. Also, I'm guessing there would be less filler with only 12 episodes.

Do you think this is more likely to air in September 2013 or January/February 2014? If it airs in 2014, then Monday 9pm is probably out, since that's where The Following S2 will air, right?

Awesome! Hopefully the break will serve to reinvigorate the creative juices and we get a miniseries worth of the first couple of seasons of the show.

Hopefully a 12 hour season will allow them to focus on the main plot, instead of having Jack defeat the bad guy 2/3rds of the way through then deal with a microchip/recording/thumb drive for the final 6 episodes.

Yes exactly. 24 was really an impressive feat of television -- coming up with 24 hours of material for one season that stretched the entire timeline. But they always had filler and the stories would always peter out feebly or escalate over and over again in comical fashion. A cable-like 12 episode run is really perfect.

I still can't believe how fast this came together. Literally "24" hours ago, the continuation of this show existed only as a vague hope for a movie. Now this morning I guess it's a done deal? No fits & starts, no vague rumors and mumblings like with Arrested Development. It's amazing.

When this does get officially get going, it probably won't be ready until mid 2014.

Cool.. I agree with those that said this is much better than a movie. I've never gotten the excitement over TV show based feature films.. You're used to getting hours upon hours on the subject then blam the movie is like a two-part episode basically, even if it's a higher budget episode. Better than nothing but not that great when you've seen dozens to hundreds of episodes already.

12 episodes will be much better on poor Jack Bauer's bladder.

I am wondering if this shows popularity overseas is the reason this happened. I seem to remember reading that when it aired, it was one of the top 5 shows worldwide.
