If 24 is sticking with the "entire season occurs in 24 hours" premise, then 12 episodes seems more logical than 13, since 12 episodes can be split easily into 2-hour increments. But I guess as long as someone keeps track of the time, it doesn't matter how many episodes there are in a season!

Re: 24 returning to FOX as a miniseries. Kiefer Sutherland in talks to star

Is FOX making this for FOX, or is there a chance they could do this for somewhere like Netflix or a Premium Channel, so we could get a more unrated/realistic version of the show? I'd love to see them push the limits if they're going through the trouble of bringing Jack back.

I hear this is part of FOX's plan to do more limited run/mini-series type shows. I've long believed that 12 or 13 episodes was perferable for a drama series instead of 22 or -wait for it - 24.

Gordon pitched this to FOX and Imagine TV, so yes it will air on FOX.

I was hoping maybe they'd let FX run it, so they can be less worried about standards and practices (like they do with AMERICAN HORROR STORY).

Or FXX, that other network they're starting.

Not sure what they would gain from having it on cable. Unless you are hoping for nudity, gore, or lots of swearing, being on Fox never seemed to hold them back.

My thoughts exactly. As long as Sutherland is in it (and maybe the cougar from season 2? ) it'll get a lot of viewers. 13-episodes sounds great. I hope this is a trend for new shows. Breaking Bad works so well partly because they keep it to 13-episodes without a lot of filler--which is what ruins shows like Revenge.

Entertainment Weekly was wrong, they corrected their mistake today. It's going to be 12 episodes as I posted earlier.

Yep, that would be it. I remember one of the DVD seasons had a new scene where Jack told his supervisor to F-off. That was awesome.

That was one of the prequel shorts in between season 3 and 4 I believe. He tells Erin Driscoll to go fuck herself.

Jack Bauer will be back, baby: EW has confirmed that Fox will bring back its long-running hit 24 next May.

The network is expected to address the return of Kiefer Sutherland in his signature role at its upfront presentation today in New York. The network will air 12 episodes of 24: Live Another Day.

I don't know why they don't just go back to a full season. It's pretty clear that it's going to happen. What else are they going to do when this airs and it's their highest rated show in years?

Airing in May does make sense. It's going to take some time to film this season.

I'd rather give the 24 creative team alot of extra time to write an amazing 12 hours with no filler, than trying to cram in 24 episodes and struggle to fill a season.

Reports say 24 will be in real-time, but will sometimes skip hours.

Maybe they'll actually consider things like travel time in this one.

Re: 24 returning to FOX as a miniseries. Kiefer Sutherland in talks to star

I'm a bit surprised that Fox is planning to air 24 in May 2014, rather than wait until September 2014, but I guess as long as the viewers and ad revenue are there, it doesn't matter when 24 airs.

Is it too early to speculate that May 5, 2014 could be the premiere date? If The Following's 15-episode S2 starts on January 20, 2014 (S1 started on January 21), then 24 could start right after The Following ends in its "traditional" Monday 9pm slot. However, if The Following S2 starts a week or two earlier, and 24 is ready, it could start on April 21 or April 28.

Re: 24 returning to FOX as a miniseries. Kiefer Sutherland in talks to star

Thats what I was going to say... what theyll do 4pm-5pm...then skip to 7pm-8pm? That lost hour of eating and dumps we've always wondered about. Or would they do like an episode of 4pm-6pm and just do some 2 hour increments. I'm very confused until we get more details. If it is infact real time then it is just 12 hours not 24? But the sometimes skip hours is just strange.

Some more details. Kevin Reilly is also leaving the door open for future installments of 24.
