 Solid episode. I like these less is more episodes the show pulls out every now and then.

I think it was good on an emotional end too as we finally get the reunion between Rick and Morgan. Considering Lennie James was cast as the lead on a new AMC show coming later this year, it's really unlikely we'll see him again anytime soon. So if this was the last appearance by Morgan, I think the episode gave his character & his relationship with Rick some closure. Morgan is a pretty damaged character.

James is such a solid actor. It was funny seeing two Brit actors interacting with each other as Southerners.

And I really liked that we finally saw some personality with Michonne.

 and yeah the whole thing with the hitchhiker was messed up. Picking up the bag at the end got a LOL from me.

Good job by Scott Gimple writing this episode. They did say that he has written some of the most talked about episodes of this series.

Are you serious? He was a very integral part of the Pilot. Were you watching it with one eye closed?

Possible spoiler
Spoiler:
On Imdb Lennie james is credited for the March 31st episode as well. So we will see him one last time

Nice little interview with James about returning last night.

He doesn't rule out coming back again if he's available.

I wouldn't hold too much credence in that spoiler ^^^. IMDB always has mistakes, especially with episode information.

Here's what James said to the Hollywood Reporter:

THR: Would you be interested in returning to The Walking Dead full time?
James: That really isn't up to me. I'm about to film a new series for AMC called Low Winter Sun and I'm very excited about that. So if things are possible and if they want me, it remains a possibility. I have nothing but good memories of my time on The Walking Dead and I love playing Morgan and hanging out in Atlanta and playing opposite Andy and the rest of the cast and seeing where they kind of take the story. All things are possible but all things are equally not always possible (laughs). I've liked being there so the rest is up to the gods of television.

This is why I'm ok with this promotion. If you look at the best show runners in the past 20 years or so, many of the best were finally great writers and creative minds at their core. I'm thinking specifically of Joss Whedon on Buffy, Angel and Firefly and Ron Moore on Galactica and even back a ways to Stephen Bochco. Kirkman especially seems fired up about the direction and I can see why considering Gimple's great creative input thus far. And finally, if he isn't a fighter behind the scenes, that's what Gale Anne Hurd is for. She helped rescue the most embattled production I've ever read about in Jim Cameron's Aliens. If she could do that, some suits from AMC will be nothing.

BTW, Lennie James was out of his damn mind in this episode. This was great, great acting.

That was my favorite episode of the season. Fantastic writing and Lennie James is a fantastic actor. I think I could really enjoy the show if it was just Rick, Michonne, and angrykid on the road.

OK, I'm a dumbass as usual, did Micchone actually have the picture and was just trying to get Carl to trust her, or did she go back in and they just did a time cut? And what'd they grab at the end? I'm assuming the guy they didn't pick up got eaten by zombies and they grabbed his backpack for resources?

Anyway, good ep. Terrific production design on the whole city and everything. Must've taken forever. I'm still wondering if this is the same Grace Walker who designed Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. They actually humanized Micchone a little bit too, which was nice. Incidentally, apparently Morgan's last name was Jones. And his son's name was Duane. Nice nod for genre fans that went way over my head. After Merle, this is Mazzarra's second callback to the Darabont episodes. I still remember how I was knocked out by the pilot, how it felt more like a feature film than a TV episode thanks to Darabont's touch. Absolutely fantastic performance from Lennie James this week, totally brilliant. What exactly does he mean by "clear?" Judging by the preview for next week, we might see him again.

My impression is that Carl dropped the picture, and Michonne went in and retrieved it while the walkers were distracted by Carl.

A couple of things didn't make much sense. One, it appears that Carl dropped the picture near the door so I am not sure how Michonne were able to get it without killing all the walkers. Two, Carl was able to hold the door nonchalantly against a mountain of walkers.

Yeah, I would have liked Carl to hear some sword noises, then have Michone open the door holding the photo with a mountain of zombies behind her. I also thought he had dropped it by the door, so was confused as to how she got it back.

I assume he actually must have dropped it near the bar, and Michone was able to get it while Carl at the door served as bait.

Cleaning up the zombies from the traps, I think.

Yeah, they grabbed his backpack. I thought it was pretty damn funny. My wife however was mad that they didn't save him in the beginning.

Did anyone bring up the zombie torture at the end yet? They drive by that dilapidated building, and you could see Morgan cutting open that zombie on the stretcher (which he left alive). Would make sense if he dumps the bodies there. But he left that zombie alive on the stretcher. And then he appears to be "working on" the zombie when they pass by.

Was that just Morgan being crazy, or is that going somewhere? Or did I not see it right?

That's also why the direction in this show is so damn good. A lesser director would have tried to show Morgan up close, emphasizing what's happening. Or we would have seen dead Laurie again. Rick said that she was right there at the end, before they got into their car. In The Walking Dead, we're usually just observers. I dig that.

I wonder how much Hyundai is paying in on the product placement.

I think he was just using the stretcher to move the walkers so he could burn them

I thought it was a solid episode and after finding out it was Gimple who also did the Sophia in the barn episode I am excited about next season.

In regards to Michonne getting the picture, I think when she told Carl to wait at the doors, she was using him as a distraction to the zombies so she could sneak in and grab the picture off the ground. Although it looked like it dropped right at their feet. I was thinking that the groans of the zombies would start to fade as she took them all out while Carl was leaning on the door but the way it went down was satisfying as well.

That scene was cut very odd. How fast she returned and then the big jump to the shot of them walking away. That was the only thing that stood out to me. Everything else just had me glued to the tv.

this show is going off the comic book storyline ... not sure how they can bring it back... this seems to be just their story now

The statement AMC constantly repeats in interviews is "We have our own story to tell."

I'm assuming the walkers kicked it out from under them in their scuffle to attack the pair.

And the door opened on the inside, so them pressing against it caused it to be jammed, so Carl holding it didn't make much of a difference. Carl standing in front of the door allowed Michonne to sneak in and out.

Pretty much. The guy that kept trying to flag them down and was left behind was apparently mauled and torn apart by zombies, and they went back for his backpack to use the stuff left behind as he was eaten. You only really see his upper half lying on the road with his back pack a few feet away.
