The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
Since they are outgunned against the Governor's forces, Rick undertakes a mission to get more weapons |
Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
The cast and creators of The Walking Dead always keep things very close to the vest, but if you aren’t caught up, or are particularly sensitive to anything “spoilery” be warned – some hints about the remainder of the season follow.

Crossing my fingers, I've seen some non-spoilery tweets from some critics saying this week's episode is the best of the season.

Andrea being stupid is just part of the show. Doesn't make the show bad.
|
Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
Did they ever establish in the show just where exactly Rick is from? If we're going from the comics then it would be one hell of a drive from somewhere outside of Atlanta to outside of Lexington... given the whole zombie apocalypse thing.

Lennie James is a hell of an actor.

Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
Never mind, the Grimes family is from a fictional Georgia town in the tv show, not Kentucky. :)

Great episode. I was worried about them stretching out the confrontation over all these remaining episodes. This was a really nice side episode with a great story so it didn't feel like filler at all. More of Andrea and the governor blah, blah would have felt like filler.

Great stuff with Morgan and Rick. Hated just about every thing with Carl though, except for the last bit at the end only because it helped humanize Michonne finally.

Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
Also, luckily Rick drown with the windows up and Michonne had another crossbow with more arrows

Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
It did take me some time to understand that they drove to Rick's hometown. I thought they were hundreds of miles away by now. And wouldn't Rick know exactly where the prison is, if they were that close? He was a sheriff.
Nitpicks. Whatever. Good episode. Carl was pretty badass - stepping out and shooting the guy point blank. I like to see everyone getting along. Michone said it nicely - "no more shit". That's pretty much what I want Merle and everyone to say. It's the zombie apocalypse and they're about to go to war with an entire town. Get over yourselves. I also noticed how calm everyone is around the zombies now. There's a few close calls. But everyone knows how to handle them now. |
Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
Michonne magically has a personality?
|
Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
The car suddenly being surrounded by zombies was a little weird. Zombies didn't gain the power to teleport until near issue 100 in the comics.

I don't remember Morgan at all. I spent the entire episode trying to picture him from season 1. Nothing.

I really like his reintroduction on the show better than in the comic as well as how they dealt with Duane.

Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
Did Lennie James lose some weight? It would certainly make sense for the character, but I'm sure it's something he wouldn't do for a one episode reappearance. I assume it was just a happy coincidence.

Seems like they need all the manpower they can get to go up against the governor. I think they should have picked up the lone hitchhiker. Anyway, that one walker in the cafe looked like Morgan's turned wife.

Holy crap, yes! Fantastic performance in a fantastic episode. I doubt we will see him again. They played up the differences in how Rick vs. Morgan survived to much. i.e. this is how it could have ended up for Rick if he wasn't a leader/survivor.
I really like his reintroduction on the show better than in the comic as well as how they dealt with Duane. Not that this will help, but they covered it pretty well in this episode. After leaving the hospital Rick stumbled into Morgan's yard. IIRC, Duane knocked him out with a shovel. Later Rick, Morgan and Duane were holed up in Morgan's place at night. Morgan let on that his wife was a walker in the street. Rick gave him a rifle to take her out and went on his way. They showed Morgan's wife through the scope but not whether or not he shot her. Yeah, they wrapped up his storyline pretty well. I think it would take away from the emotional power of this episode if he just had a change of heart and decided to come join Rick. I gotta give mad props to the design department. So much detail and thought went into building Morgan's little world of bobby traps and crazy writings. He even had escape routes mapped out in different chalk colors. This was obviously the results of a man who has been alone for a very long time. |
Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
Oh yeah, I really liked this episode, but you'd think a gaggle of walkers could pretty much push their way through two, mostly glass, doors.

Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
I liked this episode a lot. The Michonne and Carl bit was good, I thought, because we finally got to see her interact using her words. Morgan and Rick was kind of sad to see, and damn if they're weren't cold with that hitchhiker. Stopping the car and picking up his bag was an especially brutal touch, IMO.
Good episode, and I agree with others. Andrea was great this time around. |

It might be the actress or it might be the writing, but its most likely a combination of both. |

Re: The Walking Dead - "Clear" -- 03/03/2013
I too am confused by geography. I thought Rick originally lived somewhere in northern Georgia. Then he headed south towards Atlanta, and when that didn't work out, the gang headed south again... towards Fort Benning, I guess? That's in the southwest part of the state, but Columbus. Woodbury is kind of on the way there, so it makes sense that they'd stop there. It also explains why Rick had no idea where the prison was, 'cos it's a couple hundred miles from where he used to live. But I don't understand why Rick would drive through (or around) suburban Atlanta to go back to his station. There must be 100 gun stores in metro Atlanta... why not try there first? Or a police station near there?
Also, I love Lennie James... but I guess I'm the only one who had a problem with his accent. Seems like he'd start a sentence with the standard Midwest accent, then he'd pile on the Southern as the sentence went on (unless there was a word he could easily exaggerate at the beginning of the sentence). And then his English would bleed through every now and then. It was like "I've been waiting here for months... and theen ya'll decide'd ta come bayck... eh, mate?" Like I said, love the actor, but he needs to work on the accent. For some reason, it reminded me of Dexter Fletcher, who had a GREAT American accent in Band of Brothers, but an AWFUL one a couple years later in an episode of Hotel Babylon. |

I thought there was a wee bit much of emoting going on between Rick and Morgan, it seemed a little overwrought.
