It could be he thought the material was terrible, that he didn't have time, that they didn't have the right money, or even that they thought this variation was actually a good idea. Hard to say.

What happened to Chevy leaving? I figured that he would be replaced by now or something. I never read up on exactly what happened.

Since this is a short season originally scheduled to start in the fall, I think they had actually filmed everything before he quit. So we won't have Chevy-free episodes until next season, assuming there is one.

My understanding is that Chevy's in at least 10 of the episodes, including the finale. He will be missing in a couple, but they'll probably just explain it with a throwaway line saying he's on vacation or something.

Right, he's in the finale because they shot that before they shot some other episodes, and he left after the finale was shot. Pierce may also be in the "one or two" episodes that were shot afterwards, in some form or another.

I didn't realize they had shot out of sequence. I had heard something like 10 episodes but assumed (stupidly -- I know sometimes things are shot and/or shown out of sequence) that it would be a clean he'd be there and then they would use some excuse the next episode about why he was gone.

To be fair, I think it's fairly rare for the season finale to not be the last episode shot. They seemed to have anticipated that Chevy would want to leave before the season ended, and may have even planned with Chevy for an early exit.

I'd thougt it was a pretty good episode, and better than most. Germans didn't bother me (enjoyed Hogans Villakns line too), and didn't miss this Nick Kroll guy because I have no idea who he is.

I wonder what chances of another season is if other shows are tanking. Plus I'd imagine it's a lot cheaper if no CC salary.

As crazy as it sounds, with NBC's lineup in shambles, I think the odds of Community returning are actually 50/50 at this point.

Even if this season isn't great, I'd actually be pretty excited by that. With the ability to set up their own stuff for next season and with different chemistry on set without CC, they might be able to go somewhere interesting.
