As this season has played out it seems pretty clear that Walt never reaches this "All Hail the King" level of cooking/dealing. Everything feels like it's already unraveling. In hindsight it seems like a misleading ad campaign.
On the contrary I find the 'All Hail the King' tagline appropriate because Walt is clearly a legend in his own mind, even if it is all unraveling.

Walt considers himself an empire-builder at this point.

I also enjoyed the vague/misleading Vince Gilligan comment about Todd a few weeks ago. It made me think one thing about what might be coming, and when the end of the train robbery ep came I knew I had assumed the wrong way.

Just re-watched the episode where Saul was explaining about the guy who could set up Walt & his family with a new identity, including new ID. It was very interesting in light of this season's 1st episode.

Interesting angle. I like it.

I was also talking about the photo itself. Walt still isn't sitting on a mountain of money and hardly manufacturing meth in those quantities. But again I like the way 12thmonkey sees it.

It's hardly a new thing for the posters to portray Walt as far more of the badass than he actually is. For example, the Season 4 promo poster showed Walt with a menacing scowl with the "Warning: Extremely Volatile" tagline. Compare that to what actually happened in the season, where Walt spends almost all of it completely subjugated by Gus.

Actually, to me the beauty of the Season 5 poster is how the stacks of money are absolutely dwarfed by the giant boxes of meth. I know it's a ton of cash there, but it sure doesn't look like it in comparison to everything else.

I haven't read all the pages, if someone else has said this, my apologies, but I'm going with the theory that Mike knew Walt would kill him and the proper arrangements have been made for Jesse to find out (via note, Saul, a third party.) I know Mike was going to die, but I refuse to believe he'd just give up that easily without knowing something was going to happen once he disappeared.

I think it was just that Mike was tired of fighting, which was in the background for him throughout the season. He didn't really make the connection until he found out his gun was missing, plus he really wanted Jesse to be free.

Re: Breaking Bad -- "Say My Name" -- 8/26/12

Just finished this episode last night. Don't really feel like sifting through 180+ posts right now.

But, after this episode, my opinion of Walt has totally changed. He's really become a diabolical and evil man. Especially now that he murdered Mike to protect his own skin. I thought Cranston was brilliant in this episode. The scene where Walt was chatting with Jesse in the lab where his inner Heisenberg came out was brilliant IMO. Everything right now is indeed all about Walt. Jesse is the one showing some sort of conscience and guilt over their actions, especially after the murder of that boy.

Liked the scenes too where Walt faked those emotions to plant the bugs into Hank's office.

Should be interesting to see how episode 8 wraps up.

Yep, I missed that on my first viewing. I think you are right.

Can't wait to see Walt using the MG60.

Ah, the one and only thing Quebec provides (of value) to the rest of Canada. Nice.

This is what I'm wondering. It's possible that 52nd "birthday" happens sooner than we think (or later).

Also, what's everyone's thoughts on the opening scene of the season at the diner? Do we think that will be addressed in this finale, or the series finale? It has to be the series finale right? Walt's 51st doesn't seem like it was that long ago.
I don't see any way this will be addressed tomorrow. The opening scene to the season he was on the run presumably. There's no way that everything that needs to happen to get him to that point happens in tomorrow's episode. I would guess it almost has to be the series finale or building up to one of the final episodes of the series. The only way I could see them doing anything more with it tomorrow is if they show a little more of the scene in the cold open.
