Re: Why aren't you watching (Insert show and reason)?
[B]c)The reason Game of Thrones is so good is because it is unlike any other fantasy in anything other than setting. If you think this is another lone hero off to save the world like all other fantasy including Lord of the Rings, you didn't watch or didn't pay attention. There is no evil lord, light vs dark, good guys/bad guys dichotomy.
I don't understand this. Bryan Cranston was nominated for best lead Actor and Anna Gunn for lead actress, and Giancarlo Esposito and Aaron Paul were nominated for best supporting Actors last season. There is some amazing acting on this show. Do you mean just no well know celebrities are on the show?

And just because someone is nominated for an award doesn't mean they're any good. Adrian Brody, for one. Gwyneth Paltrow, for another. I like her, but she is hardly Oscar worthy. Roberto Benigni is yet another example of someone that isn't any good winning big awards. And Nicolas Cage. What has he done to merit any awards ? Other than a Razzie, I mean.
Bryan Cranston....good on Malcom, and as the Devil in Fallen. But everything is just flat and boring and cliched.

Way to go, trying to make me look like a jerk, Dino. Which you failed at, by the way. I didn't say that NCIS wasn't like anything on tv before. Of course it's like a lot of other cop/detective shows. I'm guessing you can't read english, because I said at least a couple of times that I don't mind show/movies using the same kinds of stories over and over again...as long as they at least try a little bit to put SOME originality into it. The freezeframe cut scenes in NCIS are original. The goth-like forensics lady is original. The humour of the lead character that's into movies is a bit original.
And you....?
And you....?

Most characters in game of thrones can not be put in good or evil. However, I would put the mountain as complete evil and Brienne as complete good but these are the only two characters I would label with good or evil.

What of anything I said is exaggerated or wrong ? And yes, zombie rules. Just like vampire movies, there are certain rules that zombie movies (for the most part) follow. Shoot them in the head, is one rule. Getting bit or scratched by a zombie, is another. But Walking Dead just threw 100 years of cinema history out the window. And Game Of Thrones is just like every other fantasy series that I've seen. I don't mind storylines or story types being used again and again, but the result should be entertaining and at least a little bit original. When I look at clips of Game Of Thrones, I don't think "cool. something new and original." I just think "this is just like Lord Of The Rings." To me, it's just a mash of Beastmaster and Lord Of The Rings without any of the good parts.
What do I like ? Well....
Batman The Animated Series
Superman The Animated Series
Merlin
Doctor Who
Lord Of The Rings
A Team
classic Disney animation
Animaniacs
Back To The Future
Black Books
Blazing Saddles
Blue Collar Comedy
John Hughes movies
Carrie
Child's Play
Corner Gas
and the first 2 Terminator movies, just to name a few things I like.

Actually, the "zombie rules" as bought down from the mount by Lord Romero were that every human who dies becomes a zombie. Zombie bites caused death in a few hours, death then turned them into a zombie. In that sense The Walking Dead actually follows "the rules" better than 99% of the zombie movies in recent times.
As far as Game of Thrones... I can't address anyone who thinks what Spotted Feather thought about the show. I could see someone not liking fantasy, or thinking it is too serious and convoluted (someone liking their fantasy basic and straight forward like Conan or Beastmaster) but unoriginal? I love fantasy and GOT is the best fantasy series ever, and better than 95% of the movies out there.
As far as the characters named, with the exception of maybe Joffry (who has some pretty good reasons) there was not a character listed who does not have a mix of bad and good in them.

Some of you seem to have some pre-conceived opinion that ABC Family is some cheesey channel for teens or little girls. I'm in my 30's and I like the channel and I think they have produced some pretty good family shows along with some good serial dramas.
Pretty Little Liars is a guilty pleasure for me mainly because of the attractive female leads, but it's also an on-going serialized murder mystery. I get it though. The leads are girls, so you're all assuming the target audience is girls. It's a very popular show though and I think it has a broader audience than just young girls.
Switched at Birth (also on the same channel) is a very compelling family drama.
Greek (which ended 2 years ago) was a college frat party 1-drama/comedy. I think it appealed to all audiences.
I get it though. Most of you like shows with a harder edge and you may deem ABC Family as too fluffy for your tastes. I just don't think it's fair to write off the channel as shit.

Same with The CW. I think most on this board write off that channel because they think it only produces cheesey teen young adult shows like 90210 and Gossip Girl, which is obviously targetted for young women and teen girls.
I think they are branching out more towards male viewers especially with Nikita (which hardly anyone on this board watches for whatever reason), Supernatural, and now Arrow coming out this Fall. And for the record, I think The Vampire Diaries is probably one of their best shows and IMO appeals to both men and women.

And I agree with DJariya, especially about the CW. Both Nikita and TVD are great shows.

I actually used to watch Kyle XY so I get the ABC Family thing. I don't watch ABC Family because it's too cutesy or anything but because the shows are geared towards young girls. Granted so is the CW but I still liked Smallville enough. Also, the material on ABC Family's shows (according the commercials I've seen) are far from being family appropriate.

Re: Why aren't you watching (Insert show and reason)?
I get that Pretty Little Liars is a popular show, but it still seems aimed at teen girls to me, as do shows like Bunheads (which I watch), Secret Life, Switched at Birth, Jane by Design, etc. PLL is like a teenaged Desperate Housewives. CW skews older but also targets either a younger audience, or an audience that likes watching highschool-aged kids (Nikita being an exception, I guess). There's nothing wrong with that, and I'm not belittling people's choices (hey, I watch cartoons), but I would think most people who watch consider them more in the "guilty pleasures" category.

I'm not wrong about any of the characters I mentioned. It's completely ridiculous to say that a tv show has no good guys or bad guys. How am I wrong ?

Well then it's ridiculous because it's true. This is why it is original because everyone has a shade of grey. There is no true good or evil (there are exceptions). If you watched the show you would know that

I HAVE seen the show. You can't have a show or movie without good guys and bad guys. Of course, everyone has shades of grey. It wouldn't be interesting if they didn't. But there ARE good guys and bad guys. Having bad guys with a hint of good in them or good guys who have a hint of bad isn't original. Not in the slightest. Watchmen is a good example. The Comedian was one of the main good guys. But he was a rapist and he smoked. Yet, he was a good guy. Or sticking with the Watchmen.....Nite Owl. He was one of the main good guys, but he decided to be a worthless coward by going along with the plan to lie to the world that Dr. Manhattan was the one who attacked. And he did nothing to avenge Rorshach's cowardly murder. Your argument has no merit.
