We've finished season 6 of Doc Martin, which is as far as it goes on Tubi. Anyone know where the rest of the seasons are streaming?

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

I signed up for Acorn, looks like there's some good stuff on there. I can always cancel after we finish Doc Martin.

I don't know if you've seen The Detectorists or not, but it's on Acorn and it's fantastic.

I was going to recommend the same thing. I'm not even sure, why, as they're not similar shows.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

For any fans of Peep Show, this was great to see. The 20th anniversary of Peep Show, with writers Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, as well as actors David Mitchell, Robert Webb, Isy Suttie, Rachel Blanchard, and producer Philip Clarke.

This has prompted me for a full rewatch of the show.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

Couple of new things out on Hulu and Netflix.
Last week watched Dinosaur on Hulu - really enjoyed it.

Just started watching Baby Reindeer on Netflix- this is some dark comedy stuff.

Highly recommend both.

Would also suggest just watching ep 1 of baby reindeer - hence not posting the trailer for it.

Wow, this made me remember how much I miss this show, especially when they started talking about various favorite moments in the series.

Also, David Mitchell is a for real funny bastard and someone really needed to hand the presenter a throat lozenge.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

David and Robert have both put out excellent books.

Robert’s are better. But both are excellent.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

Has anybody checked out Supacell? It’s a Netflix show, but UK produced so figured would be worth bringing up here. It’s only 6 episodes, so a short watch. It seemed a blend of Hero’s meets Attack the Block. I thought it was a good focus on a core set of characters, some good plot twists, and interesting lens on minority issues and perspectives. Would definitely like to see a second season.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

Anyone catching The Lovers on Sundance that's airing now? It's a SKY dramedy show from last year about a semi-famous TV journalist having an affair with the equivalent of a Walmart worker.

I normally loathe non-period British shows but gave it a chance because Alice Eve is on it. Funny, quirky romance and two leads who have a great antagonistic chemistry.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

There will be a Christmas episode for a few UK shows...

Gavin & Stacey - This will be an actual finale. The show has been done since 2010, but they did a Christmas special in 2019, and will do one more on the 25th, followed by a farewell show on Jan 1st.
Outnumbered - Wow! Another one that finished in 2014, and had a Christmas special in 2016. Christmas special will be broadcast on the 26th. I expect the kids to be almost unrecognizable.
Would I Lie to You? - Ongoing series. Really good stuff. Christmas special on the 23rd.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

Not a UK show, but I couldn't find a good place to post this. I've been watching the Australian show A Place To Call Home. It would be best described as an Australian Downton Abbey, but I've watched the first 15 episodes so far and I really like it. There have been a couple of twists where I gasped. I didn't see them coming.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

Detectorists: Movie Special is on sale for $4.99 at Apple TV in case anyone hasn't seen it and wants to just buy instead of subscribing to a streaming service to watch it.

I don't think I knew this existed. Or maybe I did see it and I'm conflating it with the third season. If in doubt, dig it out!

This is the movie they made during the Pandemic. It came out in 2022 and it's set five years later. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm going to try to watch it this weekend. It's an hour and 14 minutes.

It's very funny. And a nice wrap-up to the show.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

I've watched an episode or two of Taskmaster but when Jason Mantzoukas (sp?) was on s19 I watched the entire season with my wife.

Turns out it's a lot of fun.

The two hosts send 5 Celebrities on a series of funny tasks and they get points. The most points at the end of the series wins.

The current season and all of them are on YouTube

New show called Small Prophets from Mackenzie Crook

Not yet watched, but it has the same feel as Detectorists per all the reviews, have it downloaded for the plane this weekend.
