RE The laptop--Does 'encrypted' mean anything when trying to hide things from the government? Can't they break into anything?

I'd assume that that if some sort of skeleton key for decryption existed, encryption would be worthless.

Same here. There's no hope for Walt and I really want him to get what he deserves in the end, but from the start Jesse has been open to changing his life and could have a shot at redemption if it wasn't for Walt. It would be great to see Hank arrest or kill Walt and Jesse get away clean, but I doubt this show would go for such an obvious ending.

Anyways, I paid $2 to watch it on Amazon. And I was disappointed by how many pauses were in Amazon's player. I paid for SD instead of HD, because I wanted less lag, and didn't care because I'm watching it on a computer screen.

Good episode. The stuff with Mike was excellent. Last season or two, I didn't expect him to become a main character.
Really? I buy Breaking Bad, because it deserves the money. But I just checked two popular (albeit invite only) sites and saw multiple options.

I loved this episode. I'm really looking forward to the coming storm. I really hope this show ends with some bite and doesn't cop out to some sort of happy or even just resolution. I love the direction this show is heading.

Mike wouldn't need money himself, his guys wouldn't be losing theirs. Then his girl would not have gone crazy about killing everyone, and tried to kill Mike at Chow's, and Mike would not have had to ask her about P2P and decided to go back in with Walt and Jesse.

To go from the success of the magnet heist, that was talked about and debated by everyone all over, to that being both their potential downfall and saving grace to get Mike back in and start the operation back up.

That's some fucking A good writing.
I think she would have tried to kill everyone regardless of whether the money was seized. That his men were paid off was the reason Mike gave to counter her plan, but she still went through with it anyway. Although we don't know if she ever found out that the money was seized to begin with. If she did find this out, then that suggests you're right and she was convinced by Mike but only went after everyone when she found out they weren't paid off after all. But if she didn't know about the money being seized, she would've tried to kill them anyway.

This show rules!

Re: Breaking Bad--Madrigal--7/22/12

Does anyone think there will be a major death in episode 8.....or a cliffhanger where one of the key players is in peril?

I'm talking Mike the Cleaner or possibly Skylar? I assume they'll need Hank to stick around for the end along with Jesse.

They knew beforehand that episode was going to be the midpoint, so I'm sure there's a big cliffhanger. Everybody will be like "OMG! I can't believe they did that! I can't believe I have to wait one year!"

No, I haven't read anything, nor have any guess, just saying.

Re: Breaking Bad--Madrigal--7/22/12

I've been thinking for awhile that Hank will ultimately have to work for Walt. Look at what happened to the division chief when they found out Hank was right about Fring. What do you think the DEA would do if they found out Hank's out BIL was Heisenburg?

No, Hank can't bust Walt. He has to protect him. Has to.

Re: Breaking Bad--Madrigal--7/22/12

Possibly. Walt could convince Hank that the agency will view it that Hank pushed the agency on Fring to help get rid of him and remove the competition. The attempted hit on Hank was because he was mixed up in dirty cartel business. Could work.

Re: Breaking Bad--Madrigal--7/22/12

No way. Hank is too noble, he'll get fired before he helps a drug pusher. There's no way he helps Walt UNLESS he convinces Walt to walk away. Maybe then he helps push the investigation onto a different criminal.

I'm thinking something's going to happen to his family and Walt just goes off the deep end and/or turns himself in. Sort of an "it was all for nothing" type scenario.

I just hope to hell we don't get a courtroom finale like X-files or Seinfeld or some lame exchange between Hank and Walt where it's "you mean that was YOU in the warehouse?" "you drove the car with the magnet?" Wow.

Re: Breaking Bad--Madrigal--7/22/12

Well another factor is that Hank took all that money for his medical bills. Sure, he didn't know it was drug money. The DEA will just buy the idea that Walt was good at counting cards? So flimsy and wouldn't even pass the smell test since there would be zero supportive evidence.

All the factors align to implicate him already. It wouldn't be a just quit or be fired scenario. It's all circumstantial and none of it is true but when you talk about the appearance of impropriety....man, it looks bad for Hank.

Yeah, if they could do it to his boss just for being acquaintances with Gus, they can definitely get Hank.

Re: Breaking Bad--Madrigal--7/22/12

I believe there was a conversation with Hank, too, about it. Wasn't there a family dinner where Walt had to "fall on the sword" and Schoolyer had a whole script for him to recite? Hank gave him holy hell about it.

Hank knew they paid the bills and plausible deniability would be weak, at best. We're talking hundreds of thousands of $'s.

Re: Breaking Bad--Madrigal--7/22/12

I am willing to bet (pun coming...) Hank was always suspicious of the gambling. Also, how he found Tuco and how Walt happened to be near by.

Hank is a lot smarter then his appearance puts on. He certainly has all the pieces of the puzzle, just doesn't see the picture just yet.

If anything, I do believe Mike will roll on Walt. Or perhaps a deliberate red herring by the writers.

True, but I think we're supposed to believe that he has no idea where the money came from, unless I'm remembering something wrong.

It's discussed over dinner with Hank in season 4 episode 4 - Bullet Points.
