Interview with Vince Gilligan on Episode 502

Thought his comments about the movie Mike was watching,"The Caine Mutiny" were interesting and also that Mike's last name doesn't mean anything.

Even though I understand why AMC is doing it the way they are, the wait between season five part one and season five part two is going to suck
. Just reading through this thread and the speculation from other posters has me so curious what direction the show is going to take in these final episodes.
I could for sure see the fact that Hank's medical bills were being paid by Walt with drug money being used by Walt as leverage at some point when Hank finally pinpoints that it's been him behind the blue meth all along. I almost wonder if the reveal that he finds out is part of the mid-season finale/cliffhanger.
Damn...the best show on the air right now only has 14 episodes left.

2 million dollars in an offshore account tied to an alleged druglord, with Mikes background, and the most likely suspect for the muscle behind the show, isnt just cause?

Based on how things are playing out, I'm not sure anyone is going to make it out alive, aside from probably Walt's family. I do hope Saul makes it though. Of the main 2, Walt and Jesse, I'm still leaning towards Jesse dying. He's still a former junkie who's been kicked around the entire series, and I think he's destined to get wasted in the end. I'm not sure you can outsmart Walter White.
I also found it interesting that in the next episode preview, Hank's wife asks Walt what's really going on. Would this show be sick enough to have her eventually murdered by, perhaps Mike? Maybe she'll find out the truth, and then Walt panics and has her done in. That would set Hank over the edge, and then in the finale, he figures out Walt was behind the whole thing, and takes him out. Uncovering his true identity is one thing, but finding out he was responsible for your wife's death, would probably end in a "Se7en" style shooting.
But I'm just spit balling here.

When Hank asked "Who gave Hector the bomb?" It had me thinking. When a bomb goes off, can bomb experts figure out what kind of ingredients were used to make the homemade bomb? And if so, i wonder if whatever stuff Walt used was purchased at a specialty store that can be traced back to him via surveillance footage of whoever bought the items?
Being able to trace that back to Walter seems unlikely, especially if we assume that he cleaned up thoroughly.

Actually, I'd like to see her die like Hitler in Inglourious Basterds. Or when Ed Norton curbstomped that black dude in American History X.

Walt's also extremely cocky. He's exactly the type of person that would overestimate the control he has on Jesse, and that could really come back to bite him in the ass. I mean, there's not much outsmarting involved in walking up to someone that trusts you and shooting them. Walt might not even see it coming if Jesse is the one that ultimately does him in.

Oh, so you mean the DEA and the FBI don't have the technology to read encrypted computer files?

Re: Breaking Bad--Madrigal--7/22/12
Ok, so I'm finally on this season after blowing through S1-4 on Netflix over the past couple weeks.
I watched S5/E1 on Amazon, but this was airing on AMC this past Sun so I DVR'd it. I'd forgotten how much it sucks having to wade through commercials, and, you know, not being able to just click on the next episode once it's done. But my gf and I think it's a good thing. Not being able to watch every episode in a row definitely increases the tension.
I will say that this is definitely a much darker season so far. I can't see where things will end up, but that has always been a hallmark of the show.
to Mike being back, and getting so much face time. I kept getting worried someone was going to pop out of the closet behind him at the end and take him out. As unlikely as that seemed, the medium shot of him holding the gun left a lot of black, open space in the closet area.
Hank has to put 2-and-2 together soon. He's no dummy. Many of you probably know what's happened already since ep 8 has aired, though.
It's great to go back and read some of these threads now. I'm picking up a lot of great info from other poster's observations, as well as all the articles people have been linking to. I won't say this is one of the best shows of all-time, however, I do really like it and I'm endlessly fascinated by what such strange, fucked up characters will do next.
