I don't think Harris would be privy to long-term plans for the show - could just be his assumption.

I'd be surprised if they didn't have Moss on at least as a guest star once in a while, especially since she's going to work for a rival firm.

It was a nice little burn.

Re: Mad Men -- "Commissions and Fees" -- 6/03/12

I have a question which doesn't limit itself to Mad Men only. When a show has multiple writers or possibly teams, how do they incorporate in a linear logical fashion what the other writers are creating in their storylines and character developments? Each show builds upon and expands on what has come before it and when episodes are being written, how does one writer know what is being written and developed in order to make sense of other writer's episodic events and storylines so that it all seems seamless?

I assume they're given a general outline for what stories each season is trying to tell. Plus I'm sure it's not like the writers don't collaborate with one another and share ideas even though different episodes have different writers.

Matthew Weiner probably meets with the writers, gives them the outline for the season and story beats for each episode, then the writers go off and write the script, they turn the script into MW and he does a final rewrite.

This was another amazing episode, can't wait to see how the season ends. I loved the moment with Sally and Betty, I let waiting for Betty to hug Sally and share that moment but she didn't, eventually Sally went in for the hug and Betty realized that she's a mother. Then she turns around and calls Megan to rub it in her face.

Ken's entire scene with Roger was great, especially the line about not wanting to be partner and:

"Pete doesn't go to the meeting. Pete doesn't go to any meetings."

Great episode, but I think they could have done fine with implying that Sally had had her period. Didn't really need to see the shot of the bloody panties.

AMEN to that. We got the idea already. That felt totally unnecessary, more There's Something About Mary than Mad Men. SHEESH.

I had no problem with the blood shot, it wasn't done as a gross out gag. We didn't need to see Lanes body but this show has never shyed away from showing the details.

We all thought we'd seen the last of Joan way back when, but then - bam, rehired!

Are you sure? I don't think any one thought Joan would be gone.

I have read that Weiner subs it out, then goes over it, if he makes major major edits, he takes over and slaps his name along side it, he edits all scripts and if they are minor edits, he does not put his name on it.

Some he writes alone.

he has his hands in everything....

The woman who was pregnant by one of the bosses and is arguably the second most recognizable character on the show? No, I didn't think she was going anywhere.

The question about her status was well before any of that happened.

Thank you. Also I'm still trying to understand how the OP knows what everyone (4 million viewers) thought about the chances of her leaving.

Because I polled them all. Lots of free time.

I guess I was just wrong on this one. But I didn't remember that prospect being brought up in past threads, nor did anything ever stand out as being a hint that Joan was leaving.

Of course there was the marrying the doctor bit, but I just assumed he would die in Vietnam.
