I look forward to seeing him in work that isn't beneath him like, say, Cops & Robbersons 2.

Always felt like Chevy was forced into the ensemble because of his name. Character was so misplaced (to me).

I loved that movie when I was a kid. Fay Masterson was cute...I liked when she kissed the bullet into 21 Jump Street's mouth.

Is it to late to bring in John Cleese (or any of the others they originally want to play Pierce)?

They should get Bill Murray. It worked for NBC before...

Pierce was a necessary adversary, kind of sad Chase didn't just make it through the season so the series could end intact.

I'm surprised he came back at all, after all the controversy from last season.

One of the writers posted a photo from the finale shoot recently and Chase was in it. So things were probably filmed out of order. So if he's in that, but not 2-3 of the others, it doesn't seem so bad.

So, lemme get this straight -

1. Chevy Chase is an asshole.
2. While not primarily responsible for Harmon getting fired, his attitude definitely contributed.
3. The show gets bumped from an October start to February after that goldmine of comedy, Whitney, is brought back on the air after a major retool.
4. The money is on Community being doomed.
5. Chase "quits" the show before it ends filming the season, which means that, with the straightest of faces, he can claim "it was a crap show and I quit, and then it got cancelled without me."

Conclusion: Chevy Chase is an asshole.

That would be many fans dreams. Would be pretty funny if Bill just made a quick cameo or they just started calling him Pierce.

I hope they have the power to completely destroy Chevy Chase's character - within the context of the show. Turn him into a child molester or something.

Me too. Brie is great but there is something about the way Gillian's parts are put together that makes it work so much better for me.

That would be extremely petty. He's off the show, both parties seemingly got what they wanted, why not leave it at that.

Though the most telling thing about all of this was from two years ago. The entire cast was being filmed and were told the news that the show was renewed for a second season. Upon hearing this, every single person let out some kind of excited cheer. Except Chase, who remained seated with no reaction.

Well, the fact that it was framed as "you all have to work with Chevy for another season" might have something to do with his reaction.

Community isn't a traditional show. It's pretty out there. They could do whatever they want with the character, and it would make sense. They could replace Pierce (as the same character) with a black actor and it'd work fine. Or completely ignore the character, and then have someone question it during the last sentence of the season.

I just hope they take a chance to do something great.

Cant they just get Kathy Bates?
