Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition

So I saw Sebastian interviewed on Access Hollywood Live. He mentioned he was crying because he was thinking about his brother. They asked what was wrong with his brother. He said that his brother has problems with his hearing...he hears like he's under water due to a problem with the fluid in his ears and that he would have to get tubes in his ears. Really, this is pretty common in kids and not that big of a deal. My two kids had to have tubes done in their ears at least 2-3 times each. On AGT, he made it seem like his brother was dying from cancer or something. I wonder if his parents got him to play that up.

I'll put money on Horse showing up in the next Jackass movie.

I wonder if Howard will be willing to pick Horse as his wild card.

So what happens on the next round of shows? They're down to 12 + the wildcards, right? How does the elimination go from here (yes, I'm new to the show this year due to Howard).

I wish, but I think he'll end up picking Unity in Motion. He's raved about them quite a bit.

I'm not sure how the show works. First time viewer here as well.

edit: It's 16 + the wildcards

There are two more weeks of quarterfinals - Youtube episode and then the wildcards.

24 people in the semifinals. 2 weeks of semifinals, with 5 advancing from each to the top 10. Top 4 from the top 10 show advance to the finals.

They've changed the format over the run of the show, but this is what they've done for the past 2 seasons. In earlier years, the top 10 was the final show and they picked the winner from the top voter getter there.

He might. In previous years, each judge got 4 picks in the wildcard. "Viewer input" was received as well, but not really used.

I'm sure that is draining.. and some more $$$ may make that trip a bit easier. I think that Mariah getting a deal to be on Idol is going to drive up the price for all of these "judges" and there are going to be a lot of holdouts next year - every one of them is going to think they deserve more cash.

If Ulysses does not win this is rigged.

He looks like the trainer from Mike Tysons Punch Out.

Is there a reason NBC stopped the voting via text message?

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition

Sharon Osborne has quit the show. Her mysterious tweet a few weeks ago was directed at NBC not Stern or money as most assumed. Her stance, apparently Jack Osborne was set to appear on Stars Earns Stripes but was booted when they found out he had MS.

Not sure what that means for the third judge going into the finals.

No loss there.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition

Do they really need a third judge at this point in the show? It's all up to the public's vote now anyways. Sharon already made her wild card pick and if each judge gets more than one wild card, they could just let America vote for the remaining spots. I bet that clogging group is happy as shit that she gave them a spot before bailing.

Stern said that each judge gets FOUR wildcard picks, insane.

I predict Sharon will be back before next weeks show, lol.

i think they do, since people tend to gravitate towards their picks.

I wish she would have walked off the show before she let those fucking cloggers back in as one of her wild card picks.

I assumed that Sharon would be finishing out this season. Doesn't "quitting" refer to not come back next season?

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition

^ The way the articles to her exit are worded, it sounds like she's quitting effective immediately. In the article Michael Corvin linked to, there's a reference to her accepting the penalty for breaking her contract.

If it's true she's quitting effective immediate, then fuck her for not doing it on the show live. She should have come out last week, waited pretty while Nick Cannon does his intro, then stand up, announce she's leaving the show, take off her mike and walk out of the theater while everyone stares lockjaw. That would have been the kind of shit people pray will happen whenever I watch a live show, and damn her for not thinking of the audience.

 Agreed. It would have been far more impactful to her 'cause.'

I think I read that she has 3 more years left on her contract. So maybe the penalty refers to her not coming back for those remaining years. It would be very unprofessional of her to leave mid-season.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition

Yeah, I don't think she cares. She doesn't need the money and would rather stick up for her son. Also do the AGT producers really want someone judging that doesn't want to be there?

I think she's gone immediately.

Re: I do have to agree with Sharon on one point, NBC really missed the boat with having someone with MS on a show like Stars Earn Stripes. I have no idea how severe his condition is, but that's reality show gold right there. They could have easily turned him into a role model.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition

I heard that Jack Osborne recently ran in a 30 mile endurance race, I don't think he can handle a reality show.

Deftones 08-07-12 12:00 PM

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition

I don't think it has anything to do with him actually competing, it has to do with them insuring him in case something happens. He claims to have said he would pay for his own insurance, but who knows if that's true.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition

Looks like Sharon is in until the end.

Now onto the YouTube Snapple <s>spectacular. </s>, uh, show. I know most won't heed this warning but, holy shit, you can skip the first hour and a half.

What a horrendous episode. There's a magician around the 1:30 mark that's mildly entertaining followed by a 16 year old country singer that was pretty solid(albeit nearly drowned out by her backing band). The "villain" dance troupe at the very end was a blast. Probably the only three decent acts in the entire 2 hours.

I think the villain group is the only one worthy of joining the core competition.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition

Most of the acts sucked but the judges and Nick Cannon were on fire, some really funny moments. But god did most of those acts suck.

The bird - how the hell is that a show
The band - sucked. What is with all the Katy Perry covers? This had to be the fourth or fifth one this season.
Funky 80's magician - stupid, stupid, stupid, with a cool ending.
7 girls dancing - boring, sucked
Horrible 16 year old playing guitar and singing - Horrible 16 year old playing guitar and singing
Female comic - one of the worse comedans I've ever seen. Zero stage presence.
French Fry dude - Sucked. Really, why was he on this show?
Air Guitar Dude - gotta admit, this guy was pretty damn funny, he basically simulated masturbation for 90 seconds live in primetime on NBC. The video package was funny, defending himself to the judges was funny, what he was doing behind Nick Cannon at the end, funny.
Puck - ok
Country girl - have fun singing on karaoke night
The bell dude - did anybody notice how loud NBC played the backing track over his performance? I'm glad they did, it sucked.
Villains - good act
