Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
I'd really like to know did they purposely pick these acts to all go on the same night or was it the result of a terrible draw? So many of acts voted through in the previous weeks are embarrassingly inferior to acts that won't make it past tonight.
For me, the biggest disappointment of the night was Ulysse. I was so pulling for him and was excited when he made it through Vegas. His stage presense is wonderful, I loved him, and enjoyed the idea of somone singing TV themes. I liked his voice. His love for these songs really shone through. I have no doubt I would go to see Ulysse perform. He blew it big time. The American Bandstand song wasn't good, he didn't deliever, all the girls dancing around... it was just terrible. Again, I wasn't pulling for him as a goof like Big Barry, I genuinely found Ulysse talented. Felt bad for him when the judges had their say. It looked like he was about to cry. |
Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
The mind reader guy is awful. I can't believe that none of the judges noticed how obvious it was how he rigged it.

Even if this one was less impressive than the last "Robin" you still have to be impressed with that one. |

He palms the appropriate number(s) and as he removes the card from the envelope he sticks the appropriate number(s) on the card before flipping it over. This move was fairly obvious to see. S |

Part 1 - Trick suitcases. Each suitcase has a mechanism that allows the magician to switch the visible sign inside from "you didn't pick this one" to "you picked this one". Either a hidden switch or a specific progression of rotations.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
I went down to see the live performance of the Earth Harp and the Cannon Ball guy:
1) the earth harp band is AMAZING!! we were in the 3rd row - so we had great seats. However, when it is live the sound of the harp does not come across as much as on TV. On the other hand, the drumming at the show was fantastic and was the standout, but at home it was background noise. 2) The cannonball is something to see in person - at first I thought it was just "a guy getting shot across the field." Again we had great seats - right behind the judges. There was a huge flash from the canon, a puff of smoke, then you see this body hanging in the air about 7 stories high, it looks like he is just going to fall out of the sky and plummet to the ground, then he hits the net and the fireworks explode (it was really fun to see) I think it sucks that all 3 acts the judges skipped to NY are on the same night with other great acts. I have a feeling the judges will bring a few of them back. |

If the kicked in the nuts as his talent guy had actually won this season, I could have sold my television because it would have been the single greatest moment in entertainment history, completely unable to be surpassed by anything I can possibly imagine. It would have been the equivalent of reaching the end of the internet.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
Alright, I can see Lindsey not making the cut being a solo gymnast/dancer, put picking dogs over Sebastian? What.the.fuck?
I know they weren't in the same group, but to think they moved on over him is ridiculous. Fuckin dog lovers. |
Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
I was really pulling for the kick in the nuts guy, but was super disappointed that the sand artist made it over him.
Maybe this isn't fair, but I've been judging the sand artist against the girl from the Ukraine's Got Talent show. Berret dude's work seems trite and lacks the genuine emotional response I get from her work. I find the judge's lavish praise of him for this "originality" and his "message" galling. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HOMgDbcA84A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Can't believe Sharon wasted her wildcard on those hillbilly cloggers, there's no way they stand a chance in the next round (do they skip semifinals?). |

Fuckin dog lovers. Oh, and I guess that "sand art" isn't for me, tried watching that Ukraine one, and it bores me to death just as much as the guy on AGT. Also find it incredibly annoying how they keep praising his "message" and originality. |
Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
The sand guy did the equivalent of going "Full Retard", he did a art piece of animals and capped it off by saying that it was god's world. People eat that shit up.

I don't see the point in animal acts other than it pandering to the audience. Them moving on is akin to pushing Big Barry through. It just undermines the point of the whole show. Same goes for the Britain's got Talent winner. Pandering to dog lovers. On the flip side, you expect this cute dog act to headline a show in Vegas? Come on. Maybe something in Gatlinberg, TN or Branson, MO but this is basically a state fair act at best. And yeah, kid mariachi or not, the kid had some serious pipes and sang with tons of emotion and passion. It was something unique and the kid is clearly talented. He absolutely deserved to compete against Hockenberry and Edon. |
Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
As a new watcher this season, someone explain the point of the judges wildcards. I get they get to bring an act back, but what's the point if America already sent them packing? Do wildcard acts ever move to the next round?
|
Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
i think all the right acts moved on. of course there should've been ones that got through on another night (horse in particular), everyone got it right. never underestimate the power of dogs. i don't get the appeal with sebastian. he's a good singer and probably appeals to a great demographic, but i don't personally find him appealing at all.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
I never watched AGT before - and I don't know if Stern even knows that there was a woman who did the sand art thing on Ukraine's got talent (I'm sure we were all watching that one)... but yes.. it does look like it had been done before.
I tried to watch that clip and got about 2 minutes in and was bored.. There was no way I was sitting through 8 minutes of that..it was like watching someone paint. The guy this year does his sand art in 2 minutes in total - which is enough time to get a "wow" out of me and then move on. I too agree that the cloggers were good, but not that great. I laugh at the judges thinking they are an act for the women.. I have a hunch they may play for the other team  |

You've got to love Howard comparing Ulysses to terrorism.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
I was dossapontwd that Eric and Olivia didn't get through. They are my favorite so far and I Ike them better than anyone I ever saw on Idol.

They were still much better than the mariachi kid. I don't understand his appeal. He's a cute kid, but his voice is nothing special. I thought his last performance was his worst, although I still thought he might have had a chance at getting the 4th spot after bringing the tears and the sob story about his brother. |
Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
Wow, not an ounce of love for Sebastien? Crazy.

Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
Just a reminder that the cloggers, All That, were first runners up on AGT in 2006. So much for finding new talent. Was Sharon on the show back then?
Also, Sharon seemingly announced on twitter that this will be her last season, but according to NBC she is signed for 3 more years or something. What's up with that? |
Re: America's Got Talent - Stern Edition
probably just a ploy for more money. i assume she's not happy about the show being in NY, since she has to fly back and forth to tape her show the talk.
