A new look for Sexy (The TARDIS). Very, very old school.

From what I can see: very cool! But there's some dork standing in the way of the console!

The new companion is excellent. She made the Christmas special.

The bits of comedy in this one were good.

One of the better Christmas specials, IMO.

The scene with Clara getting introduced to the Tardis was fun.

Watched all of the 11th Doctor on about a week! Can't wait for the special tonight!

All of the modern era tardi have been earth tones. That may be the first blue we've ever seen on the modern tartis set. Very retro, heading back into the gunmetal-steel futuristic 50's look.

And a no-nonsense console? That's almost heresy for modern Who. Awesome.

I like the new opening credits and love the new companion. Enjoyed hearing Ian McKellan as the voice of the snow. And I love the new TARDIS interior.

One thing, though. Moffat should be forbidden from having any characters say "Doctor Who" ever again. Must have heard that phrase 10 times this episode.

Seems Who gets more convoluted as it goes along. May be interesting about Clara.

Why does the interior change? I understand when we get a new Doctor but why now?

Again, only seen Season 5 to present.

Woo, nice to have it back. New companion and designs are great. I liked first 2/3 of the Christmas episode but it kind of dragged at the end. Will re-watch another time.

April is a long wait.

The TARDIS is a living thing. It's gone through a lot of interior changes, even during a particular Doctor's run. Other times, the interior doesn't change when the Doctor does.

I quite like Matt Smith's Doctor. A good successor to David Tennant.

It looks like Doctor Who is starting to go retro with Matt Smith's new outfit, the title sequence and the TARDIS interior. And next year is the 50th anniversary! Can't wait to see what Stephen Moffatt has in store.

Was it not revealed that the Doctor changes the "desktop theme" of the TARDIS control room?

At any rate, the appearance of the control room has changed from time to time over the fifty year run of the show.

I remember during the Tom Baker run, he spent one season working from a different control room, sort of a wood-paneled steam-punky thing, before going back to the primary control room. (Can't recall right off if the primary control room was the same when he got back to it or not.)

And there was a fairly radical redesign during Davison's run as the fifth Doctor.

And for the TV movie, there was an even more elaborate control room for the seventh/eighth Doctor, and by the time of the ninth Doctor, there was the "coral" control room that we had during the Eccleston/Tennant years.

ETA: Here's a link that shows all of the changes to the control room during the show's history. It would appear that the primary control room remained mostly unchanged for the first twenty years of the program, with only a tweaks and modifications. Then they got an all-new control room for the twentieth anniversary show, "The Five Doctors," which remained until the end of the original run. What we can take away from this is, as the budget increased, new control rooms have become more frequent and more elaborate.

"The Doctor's Wife" also revealed that the TARDIS keeps copies of old control rooms.

I didn't enjoy most everything about that episode that had to do with the main plot. Lizard lady and her girlfriend were aces, the Sontaran was fine, the new companion was delicious, but the snowmen plot blew chunks. My main thoughts are that it seems like perhaps this season will revolve around the mystery of companion's "life" and that seems cool. My other thought is that that Doctor being married makes the whole companion kissing/flirting uncomfortable and weird now. There isn't any positive tension, just me thinking, "Dude is married. Come on now. This isn't cool."

I don't think that Moffat can stop himself from having his companions flirt with the Doctor. It's in his DNA.

Also noted that the Doctor said he is over 1000 years old now, so he's been without a companion for a while (that we know about).

Yes, the snowmen were hopeless foes. They weren't threatening in the least. I thought The Angels take Manhattan episode was far better. Still, I've like most of recent Doctor Who and hopefully next year will have some cracker episodes.

Re: Doctor Who: Series 7 (Fall 2012)

Did anyone else catch the somewhat "inside joke" with the background music when the Doctor pretends to be Sherlock Holmes? They were using the theme song from Moffat's other (AMAZING) show SHERLOCK. :D

I enjoyed this episode a lot. The Christmas episodes usually end up being a throw away for the most part so it was cool that this was not only NOT like that but the launch pad for the new companion. Clara Oswin Oswald... there's gonna be some big secret backstory there besides soufflés.

So when is part 2 of the season starting?!?!?

No official date yet, but several sites online are saying sometime in April.

Great episode. Easily my favorite Christmas special since The End of Time, although if we're only counting specific Christmas specials then I'd say best since Voyage of the Damned.

I liked Amy at first, but I think S6 was a big let down, and the connection to River was not only unnecessary, but detracted from both characters. Ever since then I was less than impressed with the Williams'.

Glad Clara has arrived quickly, and introduced some much needed energy. I think it would be really fascinating if the new Clara died every episode with the Doctor "finding" her at different points in time along the way.
