Yes, The Day of the Doctor and Time of the Doctor aired in between Series 7 and 8. So watch those before starting 8.

The Night of the Doctor and The Last Day are short videos that came out leading up to Day of the Doctor.

Wow - it’s been a decade since Smith left and Capaldi came onboard?! Where does the time go?

Thanks! We watched Night on Youtube and Day on HBO Max.
(The ordering of extras and stuff on Vudu is really confusing.)
Night was like, hmm, not sure what's going on, but OK - prequel etc.
Day started out a little slow but got AWESOME. Loved the way they brought in
Spoiler:
the former doctors, by actual inclusion or reference.

My wife started watching with me around Blink, so afterwards I told her about the earlier reference to the Doctor's solution from this episode.

So far this show is pretty consistently excellent.

Night of the Doctor is really a treat for the Classic Who fans, especially those of
Spoiler:
The 8th Doctor, from the TV Movie, and also from the audio dramas from Big Finish, which were the only new Doctor Who stories coming out until the reboot. The short even namecheck's The 8th Doctor's companions in the audio dramas

An additional treat for Classic Who fans released for the 50th Anniversary was the "The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot", which is a meta short about the actors that previous played The Doctor in the Classic series trying to wheedle their way into appearing in Day of the Doctor. It's available to watch on the BBC's site:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01m3kfy

And there was also the movie An Adventure in Space and Time, which is about the making of the show from its inception through the departure of the First Doctor.
