Re: The Walking Dead -- "Triggerfinger" -- 2/19/12

What I have come to find about this show and the ones who watch it is this.

Ask yourself this question, who are the Walking Dead?

There are two possible answers:

1. The zombies
2. The living

If you answered #1, this show will disappoint you. And frankly, if this show was strictly about zombies (IE all the killing and gore), this show would get boring very quickly.

If you answered #2, this is the show you are watching week to week. Are there some problems, yes, but not to the extent the interwebs makes it out to be.

That being said, I identify myself with #2. And I really enjoy this show on a lot of levels.

...good stuff.
Couldn't agree more! I actually LOL'ed in a positive way when Lori was setting that shit up.

Didn't mean to come off as being touchy. I really don't care. I guess things like the night/ morning stuff doesn't wear on me as much. If I had so many problems with a show (No Ordinary Family is a fine example) then I just stop watching.

I agree, it seems the "haters" are mostly gone. I'll try not to lump you guys in with them in the future

I enjoy the human drama a lot more than the zombie action.

So did Rick shoot the fat guy at the bar in the head? if not,

Spoiler:
shouldn't he have turned into a zombie, if the rumors are true that no matter how you die, everyone turns into a zombie?

He definitely went over and shot him again, I would assume in the head. If he just shot him in the chest again he could be wasting a bullet on an uncertain kill.

They showed him with a bullet in the forehead.

The forehead as others have said.

So, does this confirm or at least elude to what the doctor whispered in Rick's ear at the CDC last season?

I don't read them, but evidently that is the mythos developed for the comics.

Seems like that would be something easily observable by any survivor and not some big CDC secret.

Well, if you haven't seen someone die of natural causes, then it would not be easily observable as you suggest.

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Triggerfinger" -- 2/19/12

I might in the minority, but I like Shane, and sympathize with his frustration. He is misunderstood and judged wrongly by Lori, because, as we saw in the flashback, he did his best for Rick at the hospital. He is weary of Rick's heroism because, in this new world, it can get you killed. The old rules don't apply, as far as Shane is concerned.

But I like and side with Rick, too, because maybe people shouldn't give up the "old rules," in order for humanity to survive. The old rules include "love," "empathy," and "solidarity."

Guess this is why I like the show, regardless of the poor dialog-writing. The "Duality of Man" is represented by Rick and Shane.

Rick was thinking and trying to be way too diplomatic with Dave and Tony's friends. IMO, I just don't think anyone would talk like that in that situation, especially with the world in chaos. To me it seemed a little weird he would try to be diplomatic with them when he was badass, shoot first last week.

The baby talk and Shane acting all pissy to Lori was the stuff that really annoyed me.

I'm a big fan of this show and rarely nitpick unlike a certain medical professional who nitpicked the shit out of the show and I guess doesn't post in these threads anymore.

And I watch this on a 37 inch HDTV 1080p and while some scenes were a little grainy on Directv, I could see everything just fine.
Oh FFS!!1!

Could you stop the endless criticizing and bitching over every minutia of the show and just enjoy it for the masterpiece it is!?!?

Although we don't really see it in the later films, in Night of the Living Dead the same rule applies. I'll also point out that The Walking Dead was initially pitched as a Night of the Living Dead comic, since that's in the public domain.

I'm not going to break this episode down by "first half" and "second half"; as a whole it was fucking great. Lots of nighttime action, awesome zombie makeups, people getting torn apart, Herschel having his own Eastwood moment, Shane's increasing detachment from the group...

I'm not going to nitpick. So far this second half of the season has been awesome.

Does "doing his best for Rick" include nailing his wife? He's definitely not in his right mind on that front. She had a moment of weakness and he took advantage. Rick's back, so that's over. Whatever he had with Lori is over and he's unwilling to let it go.

On other matters though, I agree with Andrea, it's not that his ideas are that wrong, it's that his presentation could use some work.

In Episode 3, Shane hires a publicist (Sean Hayes).

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Triggerfinger" -- 2/19/12

this is two weeks in a row where characters do things that make no sense to me. last week it was lori going after rick, this week is shane & andrea's anger over the amputee.

(to rick)
"what if he leads his people back here?!"
"we blindfolded him. he has no idea where we are."

(a few minutes later, to andrea)
"WHAT IF HE LEADS HIS PEOPLE BACK HERE?!"
"I KNOW RIGHT!"

aside from that, though, i liked this episode.

Another solid episode. I appreciate Rick wanting no more bloodshed, but you've gotta be smart in that situation.

Let's call a spade a spade - Lori took advantage of him as well. Both were scared, both were lonely - what better way to combat those emotions than to have carnal relations. It's a bonding experience that helps in bleak circumstances, and I see nothing wrong with Shane sleeping with his best friend's wife under those circumstances.

The fact that Lori is accusing Shane of lying to her about Rick is one of the reasons why I wish the Zombie had finished her off. There are other reasons why I want her dead, but this'll do for the time being.
