I can buy that it took longer than it did because they had to stablize the kid.

Was Herschel actually drunk? I just recall him saying that he's drank enough or something, but he wasn't falling over himself or anything in the last episode.

Me too. Though I'm glad Hershel finally saw what the real world is like out there. I think he'll be singing a different tune about the walkers from now on. Of course he still gave Shane shit about the barn incident after they were back so who knows.

So it was clearly nighttime when the hurried the hell out of town. But they don't get back to the farm until many, many hours later. This, after they've already established that town isn't that far away. They got there pretty fast on horseback previously. So a speeding car should get them back in no time.
Forgot about that. Rick shoots two guys in bar, daylight. Buddies show up shortly after. Night. That shootout is brief and they flee in the truck only to arrive at dawn. That's a good 12 hour drive between sunset and dawn.

I would like to say that I "saw" this episode, but I didn't.
The first 45 minutes was just a black screen with people talking and shooting over it. I "saw" nothing.
NOTE TO LIGHTING PEOPLE AND DIRECTORS: There are ways to shoot scenes at night where it can still look like "night" and the viewers can see what's going on!

Contrast was fine. Everything looks ok when it's daytime. This is the ONLY show I have this problem with not seeing anything during night shots.
Was watching it in HD too.

It has to be your set because it was fine for me and you are the first complaint about it. Believe me, these guys would complain about ANYTHING when it comes to this show so I'm sure it would have been mentioned. Now that you put it into their heads I'm sure it will start to come up though.

Yep, I also thought the Day, Night, Day thing was ridiculous. This show has never been very good with regards to timeline.
I too was rooting for the walker to make dinner of Lori.
Poor T-dog (or whatever is name is). He's been given very little screen time this season.

Ha ha. Lest we forget who Rick is.
Also, I'm pretty sure the adrenaline from almost being shot dead in the middle of a gun fight will sober you up pretty fast.
As for the timeline, I would take a long route to be sure I didn't lead all walkers straight to the farm.
It seems that some of you are now grasping at things to complain about. Maybe its time to give up on the show if you're enjoying it this little. (in b4: Don't tell me what to watch!)

In regards to the picture and contrast talk, I didn't have any major issues with the contrast either in HD on my Plasma.

Okay, yeah I know Rick is a Cop. In retrospect, I was tired and maybe saying it was one of the worst episodes of the season may have been a little excessive. There was some pretty cool elements to this episode. The scene in the bar was intense, but dialogue-wise it didn't really work for me. Rick was thinking and trying to be way too diplomatic with Dave and Tony's friends. IMO, I just don't think anyone would talk like that in that situation, especially with the world in chaos. To me it seemed a little weird he would try to be diplomatic with them when he was badass, shoot first last week.
The baby talk and Shane acting all pissy to Lori was the stuff that really annoyed me.
I'm a big fan of this show and rarely nitpick unlike a certain medical professional who nitpicked the shit out of the show and I guess doesn't post in these threads anymore.
And I watch this on a 37 inch HDTV 1080p and while some scenes were a little grainy on Directv, I could see everything just fine.

Isn't there a moat or bog or something that surrounds the farm? Isn't that how Otis was catching them all? Seems like just driving to the farm would be okay. Driving around for 12 hours seems like a pretty big waste of gas too...assuming a pickup with terrible gas mileage would even make it that long.

I've been pretty happy since the show has returned. I think the second half is proving to be much more tense than the first half. As others have said, there were some great moments in this ep, especially the zombie action. I was bothered by the day to night to day thing, too, but whatever. If that's the worst thing we're complaining about now, I think that's a good thing.
That's what I was thinking. While it was dark and will probably look better on Blu-ray, I didn't have any problems being able to watch everything in 720p.

I believe the swamp only covers the backside of the farm. Otherwise we should have seen people walking through the swamp while they were searching for Sophia.

That's a helluva long route to take. So where are they driving for 8 hours just to ensure they don't lead walkers back to the farm?... which might be pointless since the walkers are, ya know, walking.I don't consider it grasping when it's a big hole in the story/timeline due to sloppy writing and/or direction. It's ok to accept problems with the show... you shouldn't take it so personally.

Herschel said they were going to go somewhere to stop the bleeding.
The night scenes were dark but you could still see what was happening; I actually liked how dark those scenes were.
Lori is annoying as fuck. Please kill her off.

I just press the 30 second skip button every time Lori or Shane open their mouths and that seems to keep things moving right along. If I happen to miss anything important they'll just hammer it home at least another dozen or so times so I should be OK.
