Yes, put this one in the books - not a single clunker tonight (the last skit just made it). Loved the Eastwood commercials and the Nick Cage appearance.

Another not-great episode, for me. Really bummed Stefon wasn't on. It feels like it's been done to death at this point, but the Clint Eastwood/Chrysler commercial parodies were pretty funny.
I think SNL's problem these days is that the sketches probably sound funny in theory when they're pitched, but something goes wrong either in the writing and/or execution. Can't quite put my finger on it, but there are many more terrible episodes these days than even just passable ones.

This one was a lot of fun. Get in the Cage and the quirky show were great and there were very few duds.
"This film has all the trappings of a classic Nick Cage movie. One, all the dialog is either whispered or yelled. And two, everything in the movie is on fire"

Karmin is a YouTube sensation, with over 150 million views. Lana Del Rey also has a large net following. So I don't even think they're going to Starbucks, they're just surfin the net, seeing how many views someone's got on YouTube, and giving them a call.
Too bad they didn't do this a few years ago, we could have had the Chocolate Rain guy on the show one week with the What What In The Butt guy after that.

i actually remember karmin from youtube. she did a good rendition of chris brown's "look at me now". which is strange....i can't remember the last time i knew one of the snl musical guests lol. getting old has it's advantages.
great episode all in all. i would have been much happier with zooey singing.

That lip sync 'musical' act was so bad I had to change away and come back.
Overall a decent show. The 'Artist' bit was funny and well done. Loved the Eastwood stuff. Cage and Cage was hilarious. Several good skits.
What was up with that weird picture of Whitney that briefly flashed up and seemed some kind of error just before the commercial? Was that supposed to be some kind of half-assed 'tribute'? Did I miss something?

I was channel flipping, and caught the beginning of the fast-talking skit. We just watched The Front Page last week, and we thought the fast-talking skit was dead on. It was great! Nic Cage had a couple of funny lines. Arianna Huffington wasn't very funny. The skit with two women doing a talk show at a kitchen table was completely unfunny. I changed channels during the crab legs sketch, and didn't come back.
If this was one of the better episodes because it had a good skit or two, I guess I haven't been missing anything.

The squat move that girl singer in Karmin kept making was really disturbing.
The Technology Hump skit was unwatchable.
Other then that a fairly solid and amusing enough show.
Zooey should be GH every week.

"In the Cage with Nick Cage" and special guest Nick Cage?!??
AWESOME!!!!
AWESOME!!!!
Maybe it is just me but I like when technology humps
The Eastwood sketches were classic and this shows was a big improvement over last weeks show with Tatum.
The only really bad sketch was the crab party.

Clint Eastwood has good. Liked the rising waistline of his pants.
Also liked the Verizon commercial.

I don't normally watch SNL, but, you know, Zooey and all. I very much liked her Mary Kate Olsen.

Zooey Deschanel looks a bit like Katie Perry...but you can tell the difference because Deschanel can sing.

Chalk me up as someone who loved this episode from start to finish. Clint Eastwood and Nic Cage sketeches were fantastic!
I think the difference between a good and bad SNL is the guest and how much SNL is willing to poke fun at their characters or traits. If you just ask Cage or Channing Tatum or whoever to try and be funny with the source material -- it won't work... but if you make a bit of fun of the guest and they take it in stride, that seems to equal success. Both Deschanel and Cage took their ribbing exceptionally well.
PS - never heard of Karmin before this but I dug her.

However, unless you listen to much college radio (or in my Case Sirius XMU) you might not have heard of them. I will likely watch SNL next week just for them, and I've despised SNL for years.

Edit: Rereading, those last two sentences came off way harsher than I intended. I didn't mean "you" as in "RoadToPerdition," I just meant the generic person watching SNL might hear a new artist he winds up liking.

I really like Sleigh Bells -- they remind me of a more distorted, rawer Ting Tings -- but I know a lot of people are going to absolutely hate them.
