Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I hate hearing that they are going back and forth like that. Real, staged, I don't care since it entertains me. I'd prefer it to be real, but what can ya do? I watch all versions of the show.

I wasn't a fan of Texas to start with, but I've totally come around to it and enjoy watching it just as much as the original. I'm, ummm, sorta a fan of Mary.

And don't forget that Storage Wars New York debuts tonight, if I remember correctly.

The spin offs of this show work for me, since they are pretty much the same sort of thing. I was hoping Cajun Pawn Stars would be like that to Pawn Stars, and I still watch it on DVR, but there is just something about it that I can't stand half the time. It comes across as more fake than just about any of the other shows like this, and sometimes it bugs me to no end.

Really? It sounds like sour grapes to me. It's been pretty common knowledge that Hester wanted a raise from what he was getting paid to be on the show (which is probably the real reason he's no longer on it.) So his lawsuit looks like if he's not making money off Storage Wars, he'll make sure nobody else will either.

Yep, pretty much looks like the legal equivalent of going to the auctions just to bid people up, with no intention of actually buying anything.

So even if the items are planted, Dan and Laura aren't involved in it.
And that also would mean that the stars have no idea what is "planted" versus "real".

I believe they've changed the date for premiering Storage Wars NY. All I saw on my schedule tonight were the 2 new episodes of the regular SW and then a new one of Texas right after.

It always annoys me that Dan allows people to bid up others with no intention of buying. yeah I know he profits but what a dishonorable way to do it.

How could an auctiooner anywhere ever make a rule against that though since they can't read a bidders mind to know whether he/she is bidding someone up.

When Hester loudly says "For that trash? No way" after he has made 4-5-6 bids, that to me is game over. Reset the bid to before he bid and don't allow him to bid again.

Ah darn, you're right. It starts on 1/1/2013 now.

I just saw a commercial for it last week still advertising it for tonight as well.

He can't stop people from bidding. Now that would be dishonest.

The whole point is to make money. Why would they reset the bids?

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Dave Hester is a douche. I agree that he should not be allowed (anyone for that matter) to bid, just to make someone pay more for a junk locker. Everyone can see when he is doing it just to up the amount. It's a business, not a game. Fact I remember hearing Hester complaining about 'playing games' when Barry and his 'psychic' friends were there.

This lawsuit is nothing more than him biting the hand that fed him. Had it not been for this show he wouldn't have what he has, or had. Now they tell him to kick rocks and he goes and 'tattles' on A&E when he knew all along what was going on. I so waited for an episode where someone punched him in the face.

All Hester wants to do is overprice his stuff and thinks everything he finds is new and wants retail. $1000 for a beat up old couch ... you own a thrift store, dick.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Well some interesting stuff tonight. And quite a boob show from Nabila. But you could tell by the gap those are implants.

Jarod and Brandy finally hit it big with this locker and the Planet of the Apes costume was a treat.

Also, someone claims to have Webcam pics of Brandy. Sure looks like her.

Spoiler:

I could care less about Dave Hester and his antics. His actions speak for themselves. I've no issues with the producers sneaking things in the units because it would become a boring show if there wasn't anything of interest found in those lockers. It's still a TV show first and foremost and it needs to be entertaining and it'll be fine without Hester. Yup.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Jarred eluded to the planting of items tonight while he was driving in the cadillac. He was complaining about driving all the way to Hollywood when they have been making more money off the storage units rather than that one special item. Or something along those lines.

I still say the episode where all those mint Mego's were found was when I realized how staged it is. I still enjoy it, but its not reality.

I think he meant the junk he finds makes more money than a 1940's firehose (i.e. that one special item they find in the locker that is unique). At least that's how I understood it.

One thing I'll never get is why Brandy is always complaining about the need to stock the shelves. Every time I've visited the place, it's overflowing.

I find it hilarious that hundreds of Pawn stars fans make the trek to Las Vegas thinking they will get to meet and hang out with Rick and the boys. The sales on the show are planned well in advance, and the stars never come out on the floor.

Even American Pickers is fake even though they claim it is 100% real. There's no way they just roll up on someone's lawn with a camera pointing at the owner. They would get shot doing that out in the sticks.

Oddly enough, I think Honey Boo Boo may be the most real of them all. I can put in their address in google street view and it's the same old house that you see on the show. I wonder what stops crazy fans from paying a visit?

You've seen the show and what those people look like, right? I think that is enough.

Pickers is my fav, but of course they set it up with the people first. Always evident by the outside pick up shots of the van driving into the driveway, yard, etc.

But he gets stuck with stuff often enough, and you never know when someone says, "OK let him have it"
