I wouldn't want Barry to replace Mike and Frank but I'd love to see an episode where he tags along with them.

I would hope people have figured that out, since Dave and Darrell TALK ABOUT IT IN EVERY EPISODE.

She never wins any bids unless they are under $400 or so and is only there to irritate everyone else.

Maybe that's just her strategy? I don't know what part of that makes her a fraud.

History is under the A&E umbrella so it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

Don't know that I would call her a fraud, but she obviously isn't as learned as some of these other people. Confusing Coach with Gucci and then not realizing the musket was a reproduction? I know that some of these people overinflate the value of stuff, but to flat out not know what you have when you're talking about a purse? Even I knew it was a Coach purse and I'm a straight dude!

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

When I saw the episode, the purse looked like it had the Gucci logo all over the outside and it wasn't until they looked inside that there was Coach branding. But I was watching it on their website, so maybe it wasn't clear in the low resolution

I don't see the big deal about the musket thing, a lot of the guys have brought in items that they thought were authentic.

I think you're correct. When she looked in the bag and saw the Coach label, she didn't say "oh, this is a Coach bag" (which are still pretty pricey), she immediately discounted it as counterfeit. As William Fuld posted before, it was Gucci branded outside and Coach branded inside.

Brandi got fooled by a fake Gucci bag in a previous episode, so it's something that happens to buyers from time to time (especially since you can only inspect the bag from a distance before buying it).

I don't see the big deal about the musket thing, a lot of the guys have brought in items that they thought were authentic.
I think some of the time, the appraisals are staged in that the buyers may know whether it's real of fake, or old or newer, or know the approximate value, but the show has them go to an appraiser anyway to up the mystery and tension.

Even if they truly don't know, at least they know to go get it checked out.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Yeah, I lay the musket thing on the producers. They hid the huge "Made in Hollywood" or whatever, plaque until the last second. I'm actually more surprised they didn't go the Pawn Stars route and immediately be concerned about the legality of owning/selling it more than anything else.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

That's a good point, seems like a lot of the appraisals are probably staged for show.

For what it's worth, i've been to the Fashion District in LA and we've looked at many a fake designer hand bag, and my girlfriend says for the most part its hard to tell a fake unless you actually hold it and look at the stitching, etc.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

This episode was on again today and I paused it where she looks at the purse up close and it's definitely Gucci inside and out. She lifted a flap where it said "Coach" but there's nothing else to indicate that it would have been. It was definitely a fake either way.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Was that the first time they've shown Barry's house?

Jeez, with that kind of money, I don't think I'd be hunting storage lockers.

That wasn't Barry's House but I'm sure he's living in something very nice.

He's not really, he's just being a TV star in his (ample) spare time.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I wonder what the heck is going on with Dave. It seemed very out of character for him to let go those lockers to Jarod and Brandi of all people... and for that amount.

I can't remember exactly what he said (something about re-evaluating), but it sounds like he's setting up his exit from the show.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Last night's episodes were a ton of fun. Having Dave not be much of a focus really helped.

I do wonder what he was talking about, having a bad year and needing to make some changes. He usually acts so confident and set in his business that it seemed to have come out of nowhere.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I think Darrell made reference to Dave being in financial trouble due to the cost of opening his auction house. Also, Dave has been re-tweeting people saying that they won't watch the show if he's not on it for about three months now.
