I'm not even sure why there was any cancellation fear from the public in the first place.
NBC isn't quite the Thursday night king they were eons ago.

I love that GQ pic.
Here's a recent one from Alison's twitter account.

I wonder if he'd be appearing as himself or if they'd cast him as a character. The only reason I bring that up is because Troy and Abed have mentioned Firefly before ("We're gonna get that show back on the air, buddy"').

Don Harmon talks about Fillion's visit, an upcoming guest star, when the show will most likely return and other season 3 tidbits.

One of the very few TV shows I actually like. Thursdays aren't the same without it.

Dammit, why was Fillion on the set if he's not going to be on the show?
Sounds fun. I hope Whitney and Chelsea both tank and this gets brought back sooner, a la Cougar Town.
I also hope that 50 million more people suddenly realize it's a fantastic show.

Whitney got a 1.6 on Wednesday, Chelsea got a 1.7.
Last new episode of Community got a 1.5.

Curious to see what last nights ratings were for 30 Rock now that it's going against both American Idol and BBT.

Eh, in my opinion, NBC is making a conscious effort to "dumb down" their sitcoms. They can see the success CBS is having with the Chuck Lorre stuff, and that's going to be their template. At least until the trend reverses, and smutty and stupid isn't as popular in the ratings.

30 Rock lost to Winter Wipeout, a show that's way down from last season.

No clue why Alison Brie isn't on Maxim's poll for hottest 100 for 2012, but I have made my own write in vote for her.

Fixed.
The Chuck Lorre sitcoms are viewed by everyone in the industry as bottom of the barrel (mostly because Lorre himself is a hack and a piece of shit). What makes them work are the casts. He knows how to put an ensemble together regardless of the quality of the show. The casts make the show, not the weak writing.
However, on the flip side, CBS airs How I Met Your Mother. While it may be a traditional multi-camera sitcom (without the studio audience for obvious reasons), it's a show that rewards repeat viewings and longtime watchers due to its established sense of continuity. The only sitcoms that have rewarded viewers based on continuity in recent years have been Arrested Development and any of the single-camera sitcoms on NBC (30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Recreation, etc). In another surprise, How I Met Your Mother is seeing the best ratings in its seventh season despite it being on the bubble for the first three years it was on the air. However, I think some of that might have to do with Netflix adding the first six seasons to their streaming service earlier this fall.
NBC used to be a network that took gambles and had them pay off successfully. However, NBC's output has been at the weakest it's ever been and the gambles are no longer taking place. While they have some great shows on the network, the audiences aren't there. In this case, Community will stay alive if NBC continues its downward slope in fourth place. Any other network would've cancelled the show by now. If NBC doesn't renew the show for whatever reason, Sony could always broker a fourth season with another network just to get the show to 100 episodes to sell it off into syndication. Nobody watched Til Death, but that show has 81 episodes below its belt!
