In Memoriam... "Community" (2009-2012?)
http://www.suite101.com/news/ratings...celled-a396655
only a few more episodes and then on hiatus as reported by Joel himself on his other show The Soup.
could this be the end of our beloved show??
...The Three Way Race
Just a few days ago NBC issued a press release in which they announced their mid-season schedule. While the announcement contained a number of surprising scheduling choices, one of the most apparent was the absence of Community. Following the airing of this season’s tenth episode (Regional Holiday Music) on December 15, 2011, the series is being pulled from the schedule and, as of January 12, 2012, will be replaced by 30 Rock in the 8pm timeslot on Thursday nights. While many have lamented that this is “the end” for Community a representative of NBC vehemently denied that suggestion, saying “Not at all, Community will be returning to NBC before the end of the [2011-2012] season, but at this time a return date has yet to be determined.”

Didn't that happen to Parks and Rec because Amy Poehler was pregnant? Wonder what the reason for doing this to Community is.

I think there is Community-Cougar Town curse. Cougar Town just had its order cut from 22 to 15 episodes for this season. Could this be due to the crossovers the shows have done????? Bad mojo by association?

Wait, wait, WAIT! They picked up f-ing Whitney and cancel Community?!?!? NBC? You now fully deserve being the lowest rated of the big 4.
(But on the other hand, thanks for keeping Chuck around long enough to let it wrap gracefully.)

It's going to get slaughtered, just like Community. 30 Rock and Community have been fabulous shows at times, but the type of hip comedies they are strictly limit their mainstream appeal to all demographics.

This might be a plot by NBC to squeeze out a lower rate from Sony. Community will be cheap filler for next year if one of their 30 minute shows bombs (much like Free Agents did). NBC had no backup plan for that.

I hardly watch much television now as it is, but Community is one show that I never miss. I hope that they keep it around Chuck-like. NBC has a history of sticking with low rated shows, which, on the flipside, also instills fears of Whitney being renewed for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th seasons.

Hiatus does not mean cancelled.
Cancelled does not mean the end.
JAG was cancelled by NBC and had a long succesful run on CBS followed by two equally successful spinoffs.
Family Guy returned to Fox after succesfully blowing up the ratings on Adult Swim.
Medium had a succesful run on CBS after being dropped by NBC.
Futurama returned to Comedy Central after successfully blowing up the ratings on Comedy Central and sales on DVD/Blu-ray.
Southland is a ratings hit on TNT after being dropped by NBC.
Arrested Development returns to Netflix in 2013.
Hell, Firefly returned to the big screen as Serenity in 2005.
Just wait and see what happens. Heck, with the tone of Community, it would make a great long-form companion to Adult Swim's Childrens Hospital and NTSF: SD: SUV.

I am thrilled about this. Hated this show, and have missed having a decent 8PM show to go along with the other NBC comedies (although the Office now sucks big time, and Whitney certainly is not the answer). Meh, now that I think about it, fuck it. NBC is a lost cause. Just stream 30 Rock and Parks & Rec and I'll be happy.

Love this show. I hope we at least get a full third season, although a complete four year cycle where we get to see these misfits graduate would be ideal.
