But seriously? One zombie? This reminds me of the problem with Hung. Three seasons and nary a peak at the guy's dong. What up?

I think it would have been fine to have no zombies in the episode, given that the focus should be around the characters and not have hordes of zombie attacks every episode.

I thought about that, too, but there's no telling who was squatting at the house. It may have been almost cruel to give Carol that kind of hope at that point. Although he obviously wanted to lift her spirits with the flower.

First of all, as a straight man, please understand that my curiosity lies with 1. does Thomas Jane indeed have a massive dong, and 2. what constitutes a massive dong? Second, this would not be OK with me as the show is on AMC and thus, we would still not see the dong.

As a DVDtalk member, you should be well aware of what a massive dong looks like. The average poster in these parts is packing 13"+.

Why do you go into town only to pick up a few supplies? Why not grab everything you possibly can? Fuck the shopping list.

I continue to enjoy these episodes. Not perfect, but what is? Strange to hear all the 'boring' and 'pacing problems' talk because I think they are doing good stuff so far.
While I don't want the 'lost Sophia' arc to continue the entire season, I also don't think it's really been the main focus of this season.
Can't wait for a certain person's return next week!

I am really enjoying the character Herschel and I think the actor Scott Wilson is doing a fantastic job with him so far.
Regarding the well scene (and disregarding the stupidity of it), the very first thing that came to my mind was the rope would cut into the waterlogged zombie's stomach and basically cut him in half if it had truly been down there long enough "to grow gills". Not that I've had personal experiences with such things. I suppose I was happily surprised when it actually happened, although I think that it would have happened "well" before they got it to the top. I am honestly kind of ambivalent about the show right now, but it's not like I'm wondering why I am still watching it either. I've read the comics up through the 4th hardcover so it's also fun to spot the similarities and differences.
I am thinking that I would enjoy this show a lot more if I were to watch a few episodes back-to-back so I may just keep it on the DVR and finish out this half of the season with a weekend mini-marathon.

I disagree. The Walking Dead should be about the walking dead, not the days of our lives from the perspective of survivors. It's the name of the show. Last night felt like an extended webisode or a spin-off of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

I pretty sure its common knowledge that "The Walking Dead" is actually referring to the survivors.
While a zombie plague can make for some gory goings-on, AMC’s adaptation of The Walking Dead won’t exactly be a splatter fest. “The title of the series actually refers to the survivors, which should tell you who this show is really all about,” said Charlie Collier, AMC president. “One of the reasons we fell in love with the project is that it we could see it would make for great episodic television ... and it will be advertiser friendly.”

Why do you believe that the title "Walking Dead" is referring to the zombies?

I've never complained about this show, just enjoyed it for what it is.
However my wife, who likes everything, and loves zombie movies (I'm a lucky guy) was complaining about the writing and believability tonight. The well scene was beyond dumb.
In all honestly, we'll never give up on this show but geez.

They make these characters pretty stupid.
The whole well thing didn't make sense at all. If they pull the zombie out of the water fully intact, who the hell is going to "test" the water anyways? So it's pointless to pull the zombie out. Blow his brains out and cap it.
I had a feeling the rope going around the water pump thingy would give out, because I figured the characters were too stupid to test the strength of it by, you know, pushing/pulling on it first.
As mentioned, what's with the shopping list? Grab whatever you can. I make less of an effort when shopping, and there's no zombie apocolypse and I have to pay for the shit. And why was this pharmacy that's "just a mile down the road" not mentioned last episode?
Last season I was hoping they didn't do the pregnant with another man's child bullshit, and as soon as she asked for discretion on what she needed from the pharmacy - I cringed.
Find the kid... dead or alive. Just do it already.

I agree, just find the girl and get it over with.
