It's difficult to be optimistic truly about this.
On the other hand it is the first time anyone's been using the word "confirmed" and by more than one person....

I still feel like this probably won't happen, and if it does, it won't be as good as the original run...

When it comes to the absurdly-high expectations and ridiculous bias you repeatedly run into online, this post says it all.

I love how you have absolutely no information or details that would maek you think it won't be as good, you just know it won't be. Classic.

I heard Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will be released around the same time.

Everything Hurwitz has done since A.D. has been God awful. I hope that they can recapture the magic, but I'm skeptical at this point.

While we're at it, why not throw this DVDtalk staple into the mix... it won't matter how bad these new episodes are, it'll still be better than 99% of what's on TV right now.

Hey, if you don't like it you can always tune into "Two and Half Men." I think that will be more your speed.

I feel like the show ended on a high note. Sometimes shows work better when they're short and sweet and not dragged out until they're not profitable anymore (The Office). Plus it seems like shows that HAVE returned aren't up to the original quality such as Family Guy and Futurama. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

First of all, I never commented on whether it would be good or bad.
Secondly, there are 53 episodes of the show that are more than enough for any reasonable person to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I watched most episodes of "Sit Down, Shut Up" and "Running Wilde" and even though they were huge steps down from "Arrested" I think there was only one episode of either that I'd actually call bad (and it was a SD,SU" episode written by Colton and Aboud who are even worse than Hal Sparks on all those VH1 pop-culture pundit shows) and I can easily attribute all of that to other factors. Hurwitz has more than earned the opportunity to prove to me that he can still do "Arrested Development".

Just arbitrarily assuming the worst isn't rational, period. If it has nothing to do with the material itself it has everything to do with this particular breed of internet nerd and unfortunately this isn't the only guy.

He said he felt that way, he didn't make some grand declaration that it was guaranteed to suck.

Re: New Arrested Development episodes in the works

As others have said, this is truly great news if true, but I won't be holding my breath. I was initially so excited about the idea of an Arrested Development movie, but over the years, I've slowly given up on the idea of it ever really happening. Prove me wrong, Hurwitz! Prove me wrong.

It's also possible that he watched Hurwitz's other shows and thought they were bad, which would certainly give him some "information or details" that would make him worry that a revisited Arrested Development wouldn't be good, plus just the general experience of watching creators go back to the well and not be able to recapture the magic of an earlier project.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone literally offer a guarantee on one of their posts. But he does flat-out say it will suck if it happens. There isn't a "maybe" or a "probably" to be found.

There's a world of difference between "this will suck" and "I feel it won't be as good as the original."

Yet flat-out saying "it won't be as good as the original" is closer to the former. You had to misquote the statement in question to defend it.

Even adding the "I feel" in there, I'd still have to call bullshit. I wouldn't even be comfortable saying I feel it will be good. As I said before: the 53 episodes of the show itself are enough for me to expect quality but I'm not saying "it will be great."

Re: New Arrested Development episodes in the works

Hopefully, Up All Night will be cancelled soon enough to free up Will Arnett.

Also, no Annyong, no sale.
