I dunno, I think over the course of the season we've seen small, subtle changes here and there.
And in the original Office, David Brent experienced a similar, fairly drastic change at the end.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then, because I think you're totally missing the point. Glad to know you think the show is lousy now too; I guess that means you'll stop posting in the future threads too?

I watch this show out of habit, because it used to be one of my favorites. I am hoping a new boss reinvigorates it, and if it does not, them I will stop watching, and thus likely stop posting in future threads. I was really pushing for Murray from Flight of the Concords, but that isn't happening... we'll see... I hope the show goes back to its glory days, I really do.

It's not that I hated Michael's character, it's just they ran out of good storylines for him a while ago, and yet he still seemed to be a dominant force in most of the episodes. Hell, Merideth would have been more interesting than half of Michael's plotlines.
I've always thought the supporting cast made this show, and Michael served as a good foil for them and the show's style of humor, which basically boils down to awkward office relationships. This episode seemed to bring back a lot of that comedy from the old days, and I liked the focus on office politics.

Why such hatred? Really? What did I even say to suggest that I was "hating" or whatever? I didn't attack you personally or insult you; quite the opposite, actually. All I said was that we'll have to agree to disagree and that I thought you missed the point of the way Michael handled his last day.
I don't think people have to love every episode. Where did I say that or even imply that? You're just rushing to judgment, assuming things I didn't even say. I'll admit if an episode isn't that good or if a joke falls flat; in fact, I don't think I even heaped praise on "The Inner Circle," just felt that it was okay except for a few standout bits.
You said you thought the show was lousy now, so I was asking whether you were going to give it up or continue watching. I know if I think a show is really lousy, I stop watching it (Weeds being the exception to the rule). I was just clarifying whether you would stop watching this lousy show or you would continue to watch it and post your thoughts. Again, I don't see where hatred factors into the equation. Usually if someone doesn't like something, they avoid it. When it comes to shows like The Office and The Simpsons though, it seems as though people just watch so they can come into the threads to post "it isn't as good as it used to be," and I was wondering if you fell into that category.

like I said, I watch now mostly out of habit like an abused wife, hoping, just hoping that the next week everything will be better... and it doesn't. I've dropped shows before, and to be honest, if Steve Carrell didn't leave I would have dropped this one by now too, but the thought of a new boss, with some new blood, has me intrigued.
btw, whatever happened to The Office spinoff? wasn't there supposed to be another show about another office? I vaguely remember something like that... I think all of these characters have pretty much run their course (save Creed and Erin). I'd like to see a bunch of different characters with the same basic premise.......

Thank you for clarifying why you continue to watch; that's what I was getting at before, so I appreciate you answering.
I think the rumored spinoff ended up being Parks And Recreation, which is leaps and bounds better than The Office. If you don't watch that, I highly recommend it; easily my favorite show on television.
