Sucks to see her go home but man oh man Pia looked smoking tonight.

Quote: haha! sorry but if the Judges were so angry that Pia is gone, they shouldn't have used the save on douche-bag Casey. Now, the sausage fest is in full effect and Nigel better pimp the crap out of Lauren if he wants a female in the finales.
I think that the show has become inherently flawed, in that you have a small and distinct group that overwhelmingly favors dull, white males.

Look at the final two from the last three seasons... Three winners, all white males. Of the final two, there was only one female out of six. Three females in the top four.

Looking at the results on wikipedia, there's a clear voting pattern in effect, where the girls get weeded out early, with a few strong ones hanging on to the finals where they are ultimately eliminated.

I would assume that's because the voting public is mostly made up of female teenagers.

They should switch up the voting format where instead of voting for who you like you vote for who you want to go home. I'd probably vote then.

She probably wouldn't have gone home if she wore that yesterday.

They should never have allowed internet voting. That was a big mistake. The voting has been erratic and I suspect that is the cause. Also, i really wish they would share the numbers to the weekly tallies. Why keep it such a secret? Losing Pia this early will hurt the show. I really thought she was the one to take it this season.

This x 1000.

J-Lo was cheerleading the hell out of Stefano last night, but when it comes down to Pia and Stefano she's pissed to see Pia get the boot. Somebody has to go home each week. These judges won't take a stand during the performance shows and then try to play Captain Hindsight on the results show.

i don't understand the whole "hot chicks lasting way longer than they should" factor disappearing. Used to be hotties were the last to go of the pretenders, and now even talented ones are getting the boot?

I know this is cynical, but the girl has some serious sweater puppies, and she should have used them.

Got home and watched my DVR recording again of the results. I was distracted while at work when I saw the results. It still sucks that Pia is out. Beautiful girl and really talented singer. I hope she pulls a Chris Daughtry and gets a nice recording deal after this season ends and has a Multi-Platinum selling album.

I'm going to call it right now, if Pia manages to get a recording deal, she will IMO outsell any of the guys (if they win.)

Not a fan of Haley, so I hope Lauren pulls it out.

This was a travesty, no question about it. Having Pia gone, but Jacob, Stefano, Casey and Paul still here is beyond ridiculous. ESPECIALLY SNL Jacob.

Is Vote For the Worst kicking in early?

Seems that the feeling that the "Save" was wasted is nearly universal.

My 3 cents: The "judges" ought to make a list of their Top Two after each week's performances...you know, the two people they feel are the best, have the most potential, are the most consistent & versatile, are the two they'd most miss if the unthinkable happens, etc. Then they ought to use "The Save" only for those two people (although the list could change over the course of the contest). In other words, it would be like the Fire Axe...For Emergency Use Only.

It'd be better to never use the save or to look back & wish you'd used it because some early front-runners fade later in the competition than to use it too soon in a knee-jerk response to keep somebody around whom the judges like & find entertaining. They need to take the long view...which may require letting some contestants they like go in order to keep the save in their pocket just in case a stronger contestant gets the shaft.

In other words, they have no one to be angry with except themselves.

Sidebar: Anybody else think that Haley seems too overconfident and almost gleeful when fellow contestants get the boot? Seems like I can remember her crying over somebody, but she looked pretty happy about Pia's departure.

Speaking of Pia: Despite their pleas to the audience, did it ever occur to Seacrest & the judges that maybe America DID vote for their favorites? That maybe it wasn't a case of assuming that Pia was safe? That maybe Pia seemed a bit TOO perfect and maybe a bit aloof? That maybe a lot of jealous girls are exercising the power to eliminate their rivals in a way they can never do in real life?

If the latter is true, Haley may not be smiling for long.

And what was up with that atrocious hot pants-over-tights outfit that Lauren wore? I have no fashion sense, but even I could see that that was the opposite of what she should wear if she wanted to flatter her figure.

100% correct.

This is why the show was better with Simon, he knew when someone was the real deal or not. And did not mince words when someone was mediocre and deserved no praise. He would take the wind out of the sails of the fangirls/boys. That balanced judgiing is sorely missing. But hey J-Lo has a new record plenty of Commercials, and Steven is getting Aerosmith's brand out there again, so all is good right?

We all know Paul, and Stefano are easy misses, Pia should have been top 3, and would have been with Simon on board.

oh well, what waste.

I liked Casey at first, but the save seems a waste with Pai gone and Casey still there, he looks overrated now.

I think it's Scotty's to lose at this point.

During the Hollywood round, I hated Jacob. Then I grew to like his voice and looked forward to his performances for a few weeks. Got bored of him quickly. Now, after his snooty comments, I hate him again. 360 degrees in just a few weeks!

I felt kind of bad for Stefano. Obviously, he should've been gone before Pia, but poor guy must've felt even more like crap with all the booing.

Being that I follow way too many Idol blogs, I can tell you that teenage girls aren't the problem--it's middle-aged, pre-menopausal women who get hot and bothered when a semi-cute guy hits the Idol stage. That still doesn't explain why so many of them fell in love with Adam Lambert--guess that was about forbidden fruit, unrequited love, or something like that.

Based on what I saw of Pia, she's a beautiful woman with a good voice. But she didn't show much personality and came across as a younger Celine Dion with all those ballads. In Idolworld, she was the second coming of Katharine McPhee--not as snobby, but the basic blueprint is the same.

Combine the seemingly lack of emotion with the obvious lack of penis in an attractive, womanly package that many soccer moms wouldn't vote for if their lives depended on it--Pia didn't stand a chance. I'm surprised she's gone this soon, but I didn't expect her to win regardless.

Pia could sing, but was boring, no personality in sight, and I was actually pleasantly surprised to see her go. Now if they could just do away with Jacob, who's facial expressions and body language are so distracting they force me to close my eyes to get through his performances, I would be even happier! *lol*

I think I am probably in the minority, but I really like Paul. He is different and his voice in unique. He is much more in line with my tastes, same with Scotty. Although I hope neither win and are forced to sing the usually horrid song that Idol winners have to put out as their new single.

Everybody sings always "beautiful" and everybody is the best and deserves to win! Wow, we don't need judges to sit there and say the same thing over and over every week.

Unfortunately, that is exactly why some people don't like "his music." There are some pretty telling comments about Jacob on Idol youtube postings.

Replace pre-menopausal women with middle aged men...and replace lack of penis with boobs, and I have the exact same thought whenever a semi attactive women hits the stage to sing.

Works both ways, dont you think?

I'd venture to say no, not really. Maybe in a way where if they happen to see her, they'll think she is hot fuck action to the max, but I seriously doubt many of them are actually taking the time to place votes. They're too busy heading to the Jack Shack.

I never got the theory about teenagers not voting for attractive women... aren't most if not all of the female vocal artists and tv/movie stars that are targeted to teenage girls attractive? It's not teenage boys listening to that stuff, right?

I realize I just opened myself up for a Chris Hansen gif reply, but you know what I mean.

Your favorite gets booted so you have to spread crap about another contestant (Haley)? That is worse than "9th Place Pia" getting an early exit. Most people like myself who did not vote for Pia say the same thing, we are not jealous of her looks or voice, we just were not entertained. End of Story. And why didn't Casey deserve the save as much as Pia or even Big Mike last year. When Casey was kicked off he was very popular and had given a couple of great performances. You can't base what Casey is doing now and go back a few weeks and say he didn't deserve the save because of what he is doing now. Did you cry about the save last year when it should have been saved for Siobhan?

There have been several online articles that stated the contestants, including Haley, were crying after the show. One article said Haley was consoling Pia after the show, even wiping away her tears and encouraging those remaining attendees in the crowd to show their support. The last time Haley was announced as being in the Bottom 3, she had this smirky smile. Some people just act differently in stressful or negative situations. I tend to let out a stupid laugh at the announcement of negative/bad news, obviously I am not happy about it.

Besides the big stories about Casey's save and Pia's exit, Haley's comeback story has been quite amazing itself. She was universally counted out 3 weeks ago, now as J-Lo said she could be a contender based on her recent strong efforts. She seems like a sweet girl, so I am taken aback by your accusation that she is so cold hearted. I think now that she will outlast Lauren and 2-3 boys. Who would have thunk it 3 weeks ago.
