That and some of the clunky dialogue annoyed me. And was tough to buy Michelle Forbes in that role (she has such a recognizable face it pulled me completely out of her scenes), but otherwise really enjoyed the two hours. Love how they filmed Seattle and digging the ambiguity of Holder's character. (Although I thought it a little too obvious that he was in UC mode when talking to the soccer players.)

Looking forward to next week.

I really enjoyed this. It was incredibly compelling (I don't want to use the word intense just yet) and kept me guessing.

I am in the for haul, but I have fears of where a second (or third) season could go if the central mystery gets solved.*

Excellent addition to AMC's programming lineup.

*But I felt the same way about Terriers and if that was still on, I have no doubt it would have worked out rather well.

The first two hours were a string start and I got sucked into the plot pretty quickly. Looking forward to watching the rest of this.

Most of the dialog was weak and Rosie's parents were horrible. Then things fell into place and the strong characters emerged. The lead is Sissy Spacek with Renee Zellweger's eyes and Anna Torv's delivery. Then again I tend to like shows which have a passive lead (oxymoron?) that a bunch of crazy fucks revolve around. The school seduction scene w/the male detective and subsequent twist was brilliant.

Downloading the 1st 2 episodes from iTunes (they are free and in HD) so I can hopefully check it out during a free moment at work. I'm anxious to see it.

Re: The Killing -- 2 Hour Series Premiere -- "Pilot/The Cage" -- 04/03/11

I really liked it. Very raw and subdued compared to all the other crime dramas out there. My wife sat down when it started and was complaining "Turn the channel" "What the heck is this?" After 5 minutes she stopped talking and watched the entire 2 hours. Afterwards she was mad. "What? I have to watch the whole season now to figure this out?" She prefers having it all resolved in an hour.

That scene with the new cop and those HS girls was very creepy. I wonder if it was really pot. They obviously had no idea. The one girl was pretty funny. "This is good stuff. I'm so high right now"

Michelle Forbes may be up for an emmy after that performance.

The show is also available in Xbox Live. Free. Both episodes.

I checked PSN and couldn't find it, but I just checked the web version.

Finally got around to watching this tonight on the DVR. Enjoyed it a bunch and love the pacing, but it totally felt like Twin Peaks minus the cooky character attributes, dark humor, and music. When Jasper was asked what bar he claimed to pick some old lady up at I was waiting for him to say One Eyed Jacks.

Caught up with this last night. Thought the premiere was good, but not great. Curious to see where it goes though.

Re: The Killing -- 2 Hour Series Premiere -- "Pilot/The Cage" -- 04/03/11

I thought it was decent... at least decent enough for me to continue watching.

I'm not a fan of the Stephen character though. I don't mind that he's a bit of a creep and doesn't seem to be much of a people person, but he comes across as a highschool kid most times. It just doesn't feel right.

I don't get how they would leave a huge crime scene like that in the school basement. Seems like lazy writing to me, unless I'm missing something.

I may just hold off on this series and watch the original Danish series. It's supposed to be great, and I can't see myself watching it after watching this one.

Watched the first 2 episodes and really liked them. The cinematography and score are great and the story really drew me in. During the first episode, the story kept expanding and I was wondering how all the characters would fit in as they introduced them (like the city council members) but they started to draw the parts together by the end of the episode. I'll definitely stick around for the whole season.

We're still rockin' a 10 yr old Sony Wega, so we've got no choice but to watch it in SD. We only watched the pilot last night, and I really enjoyed it. I didn't know anything about it going in, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it unfolds. The actress who plays Linden was one of my favorites from Big Love, and I'm excited to see her in her own show here.
